What dill pickle tastes like hamburger slices?

Our town hasn’t had hamburger slices for purchase for almost 4 weeks now. Is there a style of dill pickle that tastes the same as hamburger slices. I will gladly cut the pickles into slices. I hate the dumb asses that have large events in this town and don’t order the supplies through a store instead of stripping all the shelves in every store.

P.S.
I did find some at the Dollar store, but they were so vile I spat them out right away and had to wash out my mouth a lot. They went straight into the garbage.

Have you looked at the Claussen pickles? They tend to keep those in the refrigerated section, so they might have some hamburger slices still. Also, I like the garlicy, crunchy pickle flavor on burgers, so I would recommend Claussens.

Also, what area do you live in? It would affect what’s available.

Typically, the regular dill pickles of any given brand all taste the same no matter how they’re cut. There is something of a difference, however, between regular dill pickles and kosher dills, and I can’t remember which variety hamburger slices usually are. At any rate, your best bet is to buy the spears or whole pickles of whatever brand you usually buy your hamburger slices.

I think the hamburger slices are more a sweet variety of pickle rather than a dill.
Like the bread & butter variety.

I didn’t want to buy dills and find they are different than hamburger slices. I’ll pick up regular dills then. I noticed that the regular dills were down to just a couple jars this morning.

I live in a town that has almost 10,000 people plus all the interstate traveling tourists that want groceries. A bunch of major routes intersect here. There are 2 places that carry groceries. You can’t get what you want between Memorial Day and Labor Day. One seems to be ready to go out of business because they originally went with being a high end high price store catering to tourist type people.

No. They are nothing like bread and butter slices.

The ones I remember that were closest were Jewel-brand No Garlic Spears. I have no idea if they still make them, though, and if you’re no in the Chicago area, it’s SOL. But maybe try looking for similar wording? Not listed as kosher, FWIW.

kosher dills have garlic, which hamburger slices generally do not. claussen are delicious but they’re more of a deli pickle… i would just get vlasic whatever

I wish I could help. I love most varieties of pickles and am fairly sure I know exactly what taste you’re looking for. I’ve only ever found it in jars with “hamburger” on the label. My favorite are Heinz, but Mt. Olive and Vlassic also offer them. How strange for there to be that gap in your store’s stock.

Buy dills. Take them out, slice them up, then drop them back into the jar. Otherwise, the individual slices won’t have enough vinegar penetration to stand up to the burger.

Bread and butter pickles actually are precisely what are traditionally used on hamburgers.

Not on my burgers they aren’t. They are far too sweet for my tastes, and if you look at the “traditional” burgers from any fast food or other widely known places none that I’m aware of use Bread and Butter pickles.

Bread and Butter pickles (aka Sweet and Sour) are made for sandwiches and are used by many people on burgers, but they obviously aren’t what the OP is looking for. The OP is looking for “Hamburger Slices” (aka Hamburger Dills). The OP also is the one who said they are “nothing like” Bread and Butter pickles.

Pull a pickle off of any fast food burger and taste it compared to a B&B and they aren’t even close. Hamburger dills are much “sharper” with a more vinegary taste.

Depends on the brand, and probably won’t be exact, but if you can find a sharp dill and slice it the same you will be close.

Ok here is what the original poster wants to know the type of dill pickle you want (and I do too) is the kind that tastes like BK’s and Micky D’s and it is drum roll please Hausbeck pickles made in Saginaw Michigan they supply the fast food chains there HAMBURGER DILLS. I don’t know if they supply to the public at large you should contact them and find out.they do ship in bulk. If you are able to get them please post here and let me know the price I need some too. But in a smaller quantity than the business sizes.

I have a jar of Mt Olive “Hamburger Slices” in the refrigerator. They are just whole dill pickles (or their version of dill pickles), sliced.

Bread and Butter pickles do not belong on a hamburger, but are essential on liverwurst sandwiches-- just not on hamburgers, ever.

Mt Olive pickles aren’t that good, imo.
