Kosher Dill or Bread and Butter?

What’s your favorite kind of pickle? Dou you prefer shelf-stable or refrigerated? Do you like any kind of pickled meat/veggie other than cucumber?

I’m a kosher dill girl myself, who thinks Claussen’s is the best of all. OTOH, my paternal grandmother’s family is from Mount Olive…

Sour. And the sourer, the better.

Dill cucumber pickles only for me. I prefer the refrigerator Claussens or the giant garlic dill from the deli but I like shelf-stable too.

Bread and butter pickles, swet pickles, other-than-cucumber-pickled-things=gross and an abomination.

Hmmmm - refrigerated is better, IMHO.

And - I like them both, but it depends on what you’re eating them with/on.

And I likes me some hot jardinere (sp?) on sammiches and stuff. Jardinere is sport peppers, carrots, olives, and cauliflower pickled and then packed in oil. SOunds weird and maybe gross, but is DAMN tasty.

Garlic dill pickles.

Pickled peppers, cauliflower, and tomatoes are also very good.

Mt. Olive Zesty Garlic Sandwich Stuffers.

Dill, refrigerated. We usually buy Claussen’s.

Refrigerated.

Dill with burgers and most sandwiches.

Bread and butter with a relish tray type meal.

I’m a pickle snob. Garlic dill from Gus’s pickles are the best. Sweet pickles and anything that’s been colored with yellow coloring are vile. Relish is also vile (whoever thought of puttin relish in perfectly innocent tuna salad should be shot).

I pickled myself some garlic-dill green beans that were damn tasty.

Ba-Tampte Garlic Dill, I think they’re a local brand from Brooklyn, best pickles I’ve ever had.

All the other kinds of dill have their own plusses and minuses, I can’t choose a favorite.

Jewel’s No Garlic Spears. Though I’ll settle for a garlic dill. Bread and Butter pickles make me gag.

I have never known a woman that doesn’t crave dill pickles. Personally, I like bread and butter and will let the women eat any dills that come with my sandwiches.

dill pickles. Asparagus, bamboo shoots, cabbage, cauliflower, eggs, green tomatoes, herring, peppers (all kinds), okra, olives, onions, pork hocks, squash, radishes, turnips, you name it. I like almost anything pickled as long as it isn’t sweet.

I usually buy Claussen’s halves, and I also like their pickled green tomatoes. Taste O’ Texas, brand pickled Okra is good, hot or mild version. There is a local oriental market that carries their own homemade pickled asparagus, bamboo shoots, radish, and kim chee.

I love Bread & Butter pickles. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and zesty that I enjoy in my life.

I’m also very fond of escabeche (I think? I’m not sure what it’s called…), which is the pickled carrots, onion, and jalapeno that can be found at many Hispanic markets and any taco stand worth it’s salt.

I prefer their sour pickles – especially when they’re still fresh and green. Ba-Tempte is the greatest of all pickles, though.

Otherwise, there are a lot of choices. For bread and butter, you need to get Fanning’s (“The Original and Best”). Dills, I’d probably go with Claussen’s. Generally, refrigerated is better than jarred.

I prefer Bread and Butter sometimes, but Dill are an excellent diet food. Zero calories (or close enough that who cares).

Bread and butter. For some reason, I have a very low tolerance for sour stuff. My MIL’s pickled okra (an otherwise inedible veggie) is mighty tasty.

Ba-Tempte Half Sours are my current favorite. We just started getting them in the Philly burbs a few years ago, and I love 'em.

I prefer refrigerated, dill pickles. How anyone can stomach those bread and butter abominations (I refuse to call them pickles) is beyond me.

Bread and Butter pickles…yum!
Dill pickles on the odd occasion but all bets are off if they’re sliced, batter-fried and served with ranch. Definitely food of the gods when washed down with a nice cold pint.
Pickled watermelon rinds when I can find them. They sound weird but are quite good.
