Inspired by Neighbours say my husband is impotent, which I googled and found on several other message boards.
Is it considered spamming to join SDMB and post the same message that you’ve posted on other message boards?
I’m not accusing, just curious.
Unofficially, I think the answer comes down to a question of trolling vs. spamming vs. deeply searching for an answer. IMHO, it shouldn’t be against the rules unless it’s #1 or #2 as listed above. The mods, with their supernatural powers of discernment, can easily make such calls in these matters.
If it’s your own message, how can it be plagiarism?
Depending on the content of the message, we do sometimes treat those kinds of posts as spamming or trolling. We closed this thread after finding it had been posted on another board because the story in the OP was really implausible, and finding that it was posted elsewhere made it seem even more likely that he was trolling. But sometimes people just like to ask the whole internet. eesha has stuck around to discuss her situation and it doesn’t seem like she’s trolling. Neither one seemed like spam because the OPs weren’t asking anyone to sign a petition or visit their websites or anything like that.
Just a reminder that some copy other’s posts from elsewhere.
Well, sure they do. But everybody understands that’s spamming. This question was about something specifically not plagiarism but a person scattering her own posts. Why bring up plagiarism at all?
By “it” I mean “plagiarism”, of course.
