Alessan:
Camilla was sprung on the public in her what, mid-forties? early fifties? She was probably more “pretty” when she was Kate’s age.

Yeah, I’m not getting where “sham” comes from. Having a mistress does not make a marriage a sham.
Maybe the OP misspelled “shame”?
If there really was some arranged marriage going on, d’ya think they would have lived ‘in sin’ for several years before they got married? Do you think they might have found William some daughter of a Duke or foreign prince instead of the middle-class daughter of a former airline stewardess? Do you think they would have dated then had a big falling out/break halfway through their relationship?
I think we can safely say the Prince William’s courtship and marriage to Kate is just about the most ordinary, honest marriage a future monarch as ever had.
Can we get a Mod and a Ban Hammer around here to spare us from these idiotic OPs?
Maybe he’s just buggering the valet.
Yes, 30+ years ago Buckingham palace was not yet into the 20th century, and Charles was “told” that he could not marry a person like Camilla who had already boinked several other guys. the future Princess of Wales had to be pure as the driven snow - so they found someone who had serious issues and therefore had never gotten far enough to have a close encounter of the third kind. From what I’ve read of her behaviour, she had serious issues, which explained her chastituous situation.
Charles tried with her, but he was a spoiled rich guy who only got told “no” by Mommy. Everyone else bowed and said “yes, sir”. (He even had people who put the toothpaste on the brush for him!) He was totally stumped when trying to deal with an illogical and irrational person who believed herself his equal and did not do what she was told.
Unfortunately, not really. I still think that Charles and Camilla are a great (if convoluted) romantic love story.
And I’m with everyone else in not finding the OP at all convincing.
She looks like John Cleese’s sister.
I suspect I am wasting my time here, but if Wills is really into somebody else, why wouldn’t he just have married her?
Yes, I think you’re right.
ISTR hearing somewhere that while Charles was emotionally attached to Camilla, he did not in fact bang her while he was married. Di, on the other hand, had quite the collection.
Pretty sure Charles admitted that he was “with” Camilla before the divorce. Or perhaps Camilla did. And in fairness, if I’d been pressed into wifely duty with old jug-ears I suspect I’d have to bang every ranking officer in the Army to get the (metaphorical and actual) taste out of my mouth.
Only Guards officers, I reckon. There was a (Private Eye, I think) rumour that William - pre-Kate - was introduced to the ways of the flesh by Tara Palmer-Tomkinson.
My brother knew Palmer-Tomkinson many years ago (he was at Sherborne when she was at Sherborne School for Girls.) Apparently she wasn’t very popular back then.
