I got a small one for Christmas a few years ago and I like it. It makes grilling a piece of fish or chicken for just one or two people very quick. It is easy to use. The food tastes good.
It is a little hard to clean. It is easiest to clean while still hot.
I also love mine. I have the smallest model, and they’re getting really cheap. It’s great for fish, steak, chicken, sausages. Not so good for hot dogs in my experience. Hamburgers are ok–but it’s definitely not the same as grilling outside.
I **Love, Love, Love ** my George Forman Grille. I got the little one first then decided that I needed a bigger one so I could make more food at the same time and have steadily gotten bigger and bigger grills so I can make more and more food. I want to use my George Forman Grille for everything.
Ribs, steak, chicken, hotdogs, burgers, I throw them all on my grill.
Did I mention that I love my George Forman Grills? I get so excited just thinking about it. My food is juicy and tender and it cooks so fast and clean up is really easy. As In Conceivable mentioned, it’s easiest to clean while it’s still hot. Just use a wet paper towel and the mess wipes right off.
I know it’s silly to get so excited about a kitchen appliance but it’s been so convenient for me, I actually cook a lot more now.
Mmmm…I don’t know CRorex. I’ve actually had really good results cooking marinated catfish on mine. It’s the only kind Bluesman and the Blueskids will eat, so it is the only sort I’ve ever fixed, maybe other varieties don’t do so well.
I have had good results with fish too. I have done Tuna and Swordfish steaks, grouper, catfish and flounder. It is easy to over cook it at first. That thing grills fast!
Fully agree. These things are wonderful. My wife cooks chicken, hot dogs and burgers on ours - I make bacon, grilled cheese samitches and other odds and ends.
It’s just very quick and easy, and it while it works you have free space to make other stuff on the stove/in the microwave.
Last yera my dad was jonesin’ to get us one of these. He kept going on and on about it and we finally had to tell him that we probably wouldn’t get much use out of it. So he didn’t get us one. This year my in-laws are hyped up about it. I suspect that eventually we’ll get one just so people will stop offering them to us.
I have the small one. It’s definitely a nice gift. My son gave me mine for Christmas last year. This year I hear him say that he wished he had one, but that it was a luxury item he couldn’t afford so I got him the small one with the bun warmer on top. Get her one, it’s wonderful.
I love my GFG. I’ve lived alone for 9 years, and for the first 8 I primarily lived off microwaved dinners. I haven’t eaten a “box” since I got my grill. I buy frozen chicken breasts. Slap 'em on frozen with a little seasoning and poof - 10 minutes later you have a moist, flavourful chicken breast. Same thing with porkchops or small steaks. I eat a can of veggies and a piece of meat and I’m done if very little more time than I would spend microwaving. I figure it has to be better for me, as well as economical.
The Foreman grill is good. Better is the GE grill with the same design but the plates come out for cleaning, and there’s a timer switch. I found that the Teflon coating comes off very easily for both though.
I read a long time ago (don’t have cite) that although this may be a good and handy device, it makes no real impact on the amount of fat that the food has over regular frying.
