So where’s the NRA in this little war? In this article (click on the gun dude) some seemingly (to me) reasonable shooting range owner is getting pushed around by a few nimby’s, some of them gun owners. To summarize;
A shooting club owner, when crowdwd out by urban sprawl, agreed to move out to a less populated area. After he found an ideal spot, others decided they wanted to build there, and that he should cancel his plans.
This is not “liberal” California. Most people in this neck of the woods are pretty solid conservative. Goes to show you how strong some folks’ beliefs are when they might have to suffer the consequences of others acting on those same beliefs.
My liberal soul says “Not Fair”.

Just my .02 cents, but unfortunately, this is a phenomena happening everywhere. You’ve got California rich moving to big sky country in Montana, and bitchin’ at town council meetings why it takes the volunteer EMT’s 45 minutes to get to their 400 acre spread in an emergency. In Loudoun county VA, you’ve got the Beltway cognoscente moving into $1 million “estates”, complaining about their commute to the city on two lane roads where they spent fifteen minutes following a tractor hauling hay bales. I think it’s a big part of the nouveau riche moving into “quiet, tranquil” settings to escape the hullabaloo, only to be confronted with reality.
