Yes, and it was the most difficult the Black civil rights movement had to deal with.
‘I got no problem with the Negros, as long as they keep to themselves and stop being so uppity about their God given place in society. Not in my town, not in my church, not at my lunch counter, not in my children’s school, not in the wrong seat on my bus, not using my water fountain, etc, etc, etc’ I don’t hate them on want to persecute them. I just don’t agree with or condone some things.’
How’s your track record so far?
No; hate is all that they are, all they care about. Consistently they demonstrate that they care about their hate more than their friends, family, personal welfare and even life. The mistake the Democrats made was in assuming that the American public would follow their self interest above their hate.
And I did read that article and it’s nonsense; it completely ignores how hatred is core to the “Jacksonians”, how the “middle class prosperity” they supposed value is less important to them than crushing the poor and persecuting women and non-white people. How they have always been willing to give up on that prosperity if it meant "those people" would suffer. How they will turn even on their own family if that family member is one of “them”, or fails to support their crusade of hate for hate’s sake.
It probably ignores “how hatred is core” because it’s just your fantasy, not actual reality.
What I’m saying is that not everyone is totally on board with say… Trans rights. Like everything, there’s a spectrum of opinions and feelings on the subject.
The failure of the Democratic party is to draw a stark line in the sand further left than what will win elections, and then refuse to compromise. It’s morally great, but politically ineffective.
If they’re going to be the big-tent party to oppose the far-right they need room in the tent for people who don’t necessarily agree with pretty much any aspect of the party platform. Pulling as far left as the Republicans are pulling right is the wrong strategy IMO.
All that does is force the middle to choose, and when people are forced like that, they’re more likely to choose the status quot and easy and familiar over change and potential difficulty.
So much for “it’s not about hate”. Your argument demonstrates that yes, it is about hate.
Not everyone is on board with the equality of Black people. We gonna cozy up to white supremacy in the name of electoral self-defense?
What I’m saying is that if a political party draws the line and is say… pro Trans participation in women’s sports (to take a topic still up for debate around here) and calls it hate, they’re potentially alienating a bunch of prospective voters who might be on board with everything trans short of that.
Its the same as questioning affirmative action - if you accuse people who do so as being racist, you’re going to alienate a lot of potential voters who aren’t racist but who disagree on how to remed/mitigate the situation.
I’m afraid what happened yesterday in turkey… having a candidate imprisoned for bogus reasons … Might be in the cards for America in the next 1 or 2 years
If DJT/MAGA follow through with the threats to (attempt to) toss pardons so they can prosecute enemies, then this will be where we get to pretty quickly.
Prosecuting/arresting Pelosi, Hillary or Joe Biden will be the sign we have reached this point. Unlikely Orange Foolius will try this? Yes, but not impossible.
Recall “Lock her up!” I’d say they are already most of the way there, it’s just a matter if they think they can get away with it.
Yeah. I’m not sure the hate of Hillary still carries the same weight with the MAGAts. Pelosi and AOC, yes. Harris and Biden, also yes. I expect some efforts to prosecute them for made up reasons.
Most cult members are too brain dead to remember people like Cheney, Schiff, Kinzinger and Smith plus the pardon thing will complicate retribution for those people. But hey, I don’t doubt any evil actions won’t be tried.
Not true. Some? Sure.
Definitely some bias, but they’re not all cross-burning Nazis. They’re just not.
I don’t think biological males should play in women’s sports competitions. That’s not hate. I still support trans-rights otherwise.
They are either “cross-burning Nazis”, or so stupid and easily manipulated that there’s no practical difference.
I remember quite a bit of “Lock him up” after Trump was found guilty.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
If were gonna be totally over the edge about the state of affairs we gotta take our lumps too.
I still think the media did this to us. They have their constitutional rights, for sure, and I would never disavow them of that.
I hope their lack/or losing of viewership will naturally solve this.
But I’m very mad about this. They pushed Trump right down the throats of people like baby birds being fed.
Not just Fox. CNN had Trumps face onscreen so much. His name coming from their mouths. Over and over and over. Sickening.
Now we are on to every word he says and nit-picking it to death.
I will not watch. Ever again.
If the space aliens land, ya’ll send me a PM. Plz.
Kind of like the English Civil War. If we have one it will be like that, not like the 1860’s here in the US.
Except he’s actually guilty of things. And was never locked up or punished (of course). So no; it’s the opposite of “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander”.
It’s “Submit to your masters or be punished.”
Seriously?
What “lines” did the Democratic party draw in 2024 that were too far left? I can’t think of a single one.
