I think the question of whether Delaware exists is a bit of a red herring. Look at a map of the USA. Delaware is clearly some sort of rounding error.
I agree. I mean, we’ve all heard of metes-and-bounds, but who draws a state border in a radius from a courthouse cupola? I mean, jeez!

Some river upped its banks and plumb washed the whole patch away. They named the river in memory of the lost and gone state.
Delaware: The Atlantis of our times. I’m sorry, I was lying. And the corporations have been lying about it, too. If you went there it would simply be ocean. What untold technology must have been there for it to exist right at sea level like the legends say! And so flat - it must have been mechanically engineered with technology far surpassing our own. What caused it to disappear into the ocean before the dawn of our civilization, we will never know.

Besides if you’re good you can pee into three different states right from the courthouse in New Castle. That’s how that round border thing came about.
