I have some rather old Macintosh games on CDs (original in jewel cases), from 2002-2004, and a couple from around 1996. Things like Battlefield 1942, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Flight Unlimited, Comanche Mac, and others. I don’t have the boxes but I do have the user manuals (yes, old paper manuals).
Is there any place or anyone who might want them? I have no illusions that they’re worth money, I’d be happy to give them away for the cost of shipping, it just feels like kind of a shame to just toss them.
What with archive.org and classicreload.com and others, there is very little reason to not just chuck 'em. Maybe go to those sites and see if they need what you have?
Lots of people collect this sort of stuff, but the big collection is for boxes. Still, sometimes people get the boxes but don’t get the manuals, and they do like to have them “complete in box.” And, yes, some people just want the games.
People do collect the jewel cases, too, but it’s less big.
As for where? I mostly see people donating to their favorite retro-game YouTubers.
When I think of old Mac games I think of stuff from the 80s made for the original Mac (Dark Castle was my favorite). Then I read that you have software as recent as 2004 and I feel old now.
Heh, I remember a Space Shuttle simulator “game” (in quotes because, to me at least, it seemed more tedious than fun) on my original Mac where the game play consisted of using simulated toggle switches to enter codes into the shuttle’s computer. Now that’s old.
