The thing is, I’m interested in the stories TYTs cover. I just HATE their commentary. Though I agree with *almost *everything they say, the way that they express themselves is just juvenile.
I only know the name of two hosts, Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur, though I’m familiar with the other hosts as well. Of all the hosts, Kasparian seems like the most rational. Uygur on the other hand is a pompous moron and the worst of the hosts. He cuts people off, he spells out the obvious as if their audience is too stupid to understand the basic things they’re “reporting” on, and resorts to name calling and childish responses to “call out” those he doesn’t agree with.
Are there any other Youtube channels that have the same kind of left-leaning content without the snark?
Every now and then, I like to surf YouTube for Daily Show clips. I inevitably get a bunch of videos of Cenk Uygur explaining Daily Show segments. Not showing them, just describing them to his audience.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why he thinks this is either useful or interesting.
I’ve still not gotten past the name. A “Turk” is someone from Turkey. There are other definitions in specific industries, but, in a news setting, “Turk” should mean Turkish person.
I agree with the OP, but to a lesser extent. When I’m in the right mood, and it doesn’t involve that guy cutting people off or mansplaining, they can be fun. But I would never use them for real news. At most, I might use them to go look up the actual clip they are talking about and watch that.
I also end up accidentally clicking on The Young Turks while clicking for Jon Stewart, etc., and I support this Pitting. Extremely tedious and boring. There are some other similar YouTube channels that are even more boring.
Rachel Maddow is thousands of times better than The Turks, and I love her, but even she is too repetitious and tedious for me. I get my news from Jon Stewart and will be lost when he’s gone.
BTW, the Turk is Turkish – he was born in Istanbul and has an obviously Turkish name. His co-hostess was born in U.S.A. of Armenian parents.
This here. Also, I see a title something like “Bush personally murdered 10,000 Muslims”, then, find out that Cenk or one of his staff don’t like what he did when he placed an order for 6 F-35s (or WTF).
I also find TYT getting pretty bad lately with a talking down to their audience kind of tone, over explaining things. Try Seculartalk which is also on the TYT Network, Kyle has a much more bearable style imo.
They used to be better, years ago, but like many other things they’ve deteriorated over time. You should watch them strictly for entertainment. They’re at their worst when it comes to stories with a socially progressive angle. They’ll distort, misinterpret, and lie by omission. Often the comment section calls them out on this, but they rarely (if ever) make corrections.
I complained about this to my boyfriend just the other day. In addition, I just don’t find them very polished or articulate. It distracts from what are sometimes very good points. It borders on unwatchable for me.
I love the Young Turks. Cenk and Ana are both fantastic commentators and are fair and solid on just about every issue (not just “mainstream” respectable liberal issues).
Sure, Cenk is a bit patronizing, but most people on the internet are kind of stupid and some issues (like why tolerance for transgender people is a good thing) are hard to convey to Joe Sixpack.
