Is this story true about the US Army Chaplin Corp?

I admit that I’m not the most religious person on the planet but I think the idea of disbanding the Chaplin Corp has got to be the worst idea on the face of the Earth ( next to a bunch of other things of course ). I’m just very heart broken to hear this and am really hoping that it isn’t true.

It’s a spoof site. Note that one of the other headlines reads “Army Welcomes First Openly Transgendered Military Working Dogs”.

Isn’t that site a satirical military site? I mean, they also have articles about how a female pilot “can’t remember where she parked the plane” and a platoon leader who was hospitalized for 5 days and no one is his unit even noticed.
I think it’s safe to disregard.

ETA Ninja’ed!

Yup, it’s completely true. Just like NSA Launches ‘Revenge Porn Site’, Syrian Hackers Took Over The Army’s Website In 2009 And This Soldier Just Noticed & Congress Repeals Ban On Nudists Serving Openly!

I doubt it; a Google news search for Army Chaplain Corps pulls up nothing.

From the “about” section:

OK I feel stupid but no big deal

I really can’t see any useful point to ‘Satirical News Sites’, except to provide fodder for Snopes. The humour is puerile and the satire non-existent.
Kind of like a wacky school newsletter produced by kids with the blessing of the school ( "Just don’t go too far." ) but only those who go to that school find it funny, and of those, only those who wrote it.

There are no plans to disband the Chaplain Corps.

The Chaplin Corp, on the other hand, is shutting down. Turns out the mustaches make everyone look like Hitler and nobody can remember what military goal wearing those baggy suits was supposed to accomplish.

No, Little Nemo, that’s the Chaplin Corps. The Chaplin Corp wants to manufacture robots that look and act just like Charlie Chaplin. We’ve got to keep them in business so that soon everyone can have their own Chaplin lookalike friend.

I disagree. Sites like “The Onion” (US) or “El Mundo Today” (Spain) often give very pointed commentary on the (often foolish) events that happen around us. At times, “The Onion” can also be very poignant and emotive (some of its pieces on 9/11 are classic in that respect).

And the cherry on the cake is when assholes like Jack Warner go and use obviously fake and satirical “Onion” articles to try and justify themselves >:)

Yeah, only too often*
…mi padre piensa que leo tebeos en lugar de prensa…
…las noticias más verdaderas son las Noticias del Guiñol…*

“Dad thinks I’m reading the comic strips instead of the newspaper… the news which are closest to the truth are the Puppet News (Spitting Image)”; from Celtas Cortos’ song Mano hermana.

There’s a big difference between The Onion and the numerous copycat ‘satire’ sites that have cropped up in recent years.
With The Onion you get satirical humour that only an idiot would take as real. Some of these other sites, however, seem to have missed the point and think that ‘making stuff up’ is the same thing as satire.
The article linked in the OP isn’t particularly funny and without any context, could easily be taken as a real story.

Exactly.

Dean Swift, it isn’t.
And… if I make up a story that Mrs. Palin or Mr. Biden said something excruciatingly stupid — which either will do anyway, providing one waits long enough — I have not injured the target because the truth eventually comes out and exonerates them, making them feel all warm and persecuted.

Palin — Trump 2016 !

I have found that the Duffel Blog is one of the most consistently hilarious sites on the Internet. Granted some of the humor may be lost if you weren’t in the military. The article in the OP is one of their weaker efforts. They missed the opportunity for a lot of humor and wrote it pretty much straight. That is not their usual M.O.

This was my favorite from last year:

No.
Just…no.

I love this site. My favorites are:

Soldier Disappointed Jade Helm Not A Coup. "Friends close to Peterson stated that he’s “always been ready to help install Obama as the first Fuehrer of America,” friend Abby Sawyer said. “He really bought into the Fox News rhetoric calling the President a Nazi. I don’t think he understands that Fox News is kind of like Nickelodeon for right-wing adults. It keeps them entertained but doesn’t really offer anything of substance.”
Pentagon to Supply ISIS Directly. "Abelove continued: “Before, when we gave the [Iraqi] Army 100 percent, then we had to fly strike missions to destroy a lot of it a week or two later. This way we immediately degrade ISIS by over 60 percent, without having to use our increasingly scarce missiles and JDAMs, and more importantly, without having to put any airmen into harm’s way.”

US Announces New Plan To Destabilize Middle East In Hopes Of Failure. "“After careful analysis, we have concluded that the only thing our previous Middle Eastern policies have in common is failure,” Kerry said. “Therefore, we’ve decided that we’re going to attempt to destabilize the Middle East as much as possible in the hope that this plan will fail as well.”

Kerry then announced that the United States had formally recognized Palestine as an independent state, but was also in the process of shipping tanks and helicopter gunships to Israeli settlers. When asked why the arms were not being shipped to the Israeli Army, Kerry explained that it had been labeled a terrorist organization as part of the sweeping initiative. Other elements of the plan will include trucking Shiites into traditionally Sunni areas and vice versa, supplying weapons grade plutonium to Iran, and providing fully assembled suitcase-sized nuclear weapons to any state or armed group that wants them."
