Is Trump confused?

I know we always think he can’t go any lower, but damn…

I believe I pointed that out in this thread a couple months ago as well.

I don’t think there’s much question that he is in the early stages of dementia. In addition to the family history, there is his constantly calling people by the wrong name; his frequent mispronunciation or mangling of common words; the way he often forgets a word or loses his train of thought and immediately pivots to a completely different subject, which is a common coping mechanism for people in the early stages. The way his lies are becoming more and more ridiculous and untethered from reality. How any question asked of him is answered with an unrelated word salad mix of his greatest hits: tariffs / evil immigrants / Kamala sucks.

I suspect you should.

I would call him a consumMate conman.

And didn’t limit himself to humans.

Roget that!

I thought he was going to stop World War II. Now I’m confused.

From now on, when I’m tired I’m just not going to post.

A punch-clock villain? Naw, he can’t believe he’s getting paid for what’s in his heart.

“When I say insane asylums, and then I say, Doctor Hannibal Lecter, does anybody know? They go crazy. They say, oh, he brings up these names out of— Well, that’s genius. Right. Doctor Hannibal Lecter. There’s nobody worse than him. Silence of the Lambs. Who the hell else would even remember that? I have a great memory, but they always hit me. I don’t bring it up too much because they have to take such a— he brought up Hannibal Lecter. What does that have to do with this? What is it? It has everything to do with it, right? He was… So I’ve done something for you for you that I haven’t done in 20 speeches. I brought up Doctor Hannibal Lecter and we’re allowing him, you watch, you watch these fake people will say again, he brought up Hannibal Lecter has absolutely nothing to do. You know I do the weave, right? The weave. It’s genius. You bring up Hannibal Lecter, you mention insane asylum. Hannibal Lecter. You go out, no. There’ll be a time in life where the weave won’t finish properly at the bottom and then we can talk. But right now it’s pure genius. Hey, I have an uncle, my uncle, Uncle John, my father’s brother, 41 years at MIT, longest serving professor has so many degrees, he didn’t know what the hell to do with them all in the most complicated. I understand a lot of this stuff, you know, I believe in that. Like, I mean, Jack Nicklaus is not gonna produce a bad golfer. Right. You know, that’s the way it works. It’s just one of those things and it’s in the family and it’s whatever”

“I have a lot of race car driver friends. I own a job down the road at a place called Charlotte”

“Crooked Joe Biden. They don’t call him Crooked Joe for a reason.”

“There are some women that are very beautiful in the audience. I would never say that, because if I said like that that her her her her her. If I said they were beautiful, that’s the end of my political career. You’re not allowed to say a woman is beaut.”

“I don’t feel like a senior. I actually feel better that I did 30 or 40 years ago. I actually think I am sharper. There will be a time when that won’t be. But I feel I am sharp.”

“I’m really good at this shit.”

Good morning, Ralph.

I only watched the video for the first one (Hannibal Lecter, Uncle John, and Jack Nicklaus). He sounds worse than Biden did at the campaign-ending debate.

If he is on stimulants, they’re not long-acting enough or the dosage is too low. If he isn’t on stimulants, he probably should be.

That may be the first time in nearly a decade that I felt almost as much (read: some, not none) pity for the POS as I did disgust and contempt.

He’s just outta’ gas … and so close to Charlotte Motor Speedway, too!

At no point in that “weave” does he ever explain why he keeps mentioning Hannibal Lecter.

“He was hit by some of the strongest - not human beings - women”

“The black jobs are being people with black jobs, black, they black”

Or… maybe… err…umm… never mind.

I think conman, not salesman. Similar, sure, but different.

I appreciate you posting the link (though 22 hours later it doesn’t link to the actual article, but just to the first couple of paragraphs plus instructions to purchase a NYT subscription).

I’m curious: does McWhorter ever address the topic of Trump’s obvious physical and lexical changes from his performances in 2016?

I’m guessing that he doesn’t, as that would torpedo his thesis that Trump is Just Fine Mentally—Simply Bored. (McWhorter is an interesting academic but pretty reliably comes down on the right-wing sides of all political questions.)

Trump may or may not be bored–but that doesn’t mean his mind hasn’t deteriorated.

Since SCOTUS is firmly in the Trumpiverse, I don’t think there will be any illegal actions.

Anyone have any idea who/what he’s talking about?

Which is why Trump is wrapping up his second term right now, right?

To be clear, you mean that SCOTUS will find that no matter how much what is done offends the obvious intent of current written law, somehow that will be deemed legal. Because the Emperor ordered it, and the Emperor can do no wrong. By definition. AKA the Fürherprinzip.

He’s rambling about Tivo again. Does Tivo even exist anymore? Doesn’t everyone just get their DVR from the cable company these days?

It’s pretty handy for those of us who’ve ditched cable.

So… For the people whowere actually in attendance at that rally… What exactly did they take away from that?

I know many of them are there just for the ambience, and to say they were there but…

There must be a few who were not quite FULL MAGA, who heard that and went “wait, what? What the hell was that? That’s not completely normal” And then maybe they just don’t bother going to vote after all.

I just can’t see that insane babbling doing anything other than moving a couple of people into not voting.

It’s MAGA church, and the attendees are, overwhelmingly, the uber-faithful.

You don’t find a lot of agnostics or atheists at these rallies, unless it’s for the lolz. Think “speaking in tongues” Southern Baptist Revival.
