The word you’re looking for is normal. Normal people don’t send X-rated images to people they aren’t married to.
But if that bothers you don’t vote for Obama and Pelosi next time.

Wait! What? How are those two paragraphs related?
Are Obama and Pelosi sending out pics too? Please please please link me the Obama ones!. And for the good of humanity please burn the Pelosi ones.
If you don’t like normal (IE: Obama and Pelosi) then don’t vote for them because they wanted Weinerhead to resign.
I’d LOVE to vote them out! They are colossal disappointments and not just for this (just another straw to add to the camel’s back).
But what are my choices? Michele Bachmann? John Boehner?
Bad as Pelosi and Obama are I am hard pressed to think of a republican candidate who is better.
It’s like I’m being given a choice between two turds and I have to eat one. I do not want either one but when forced I’d have to make a decision and hold my nose while doing it.
Well, see, that’s the problem there… they’re both in the same pics.
I could have gone all day without seeing Pelosi sporting that strap-on…
Send a message. Vote Green.
So incredible hypocrisy delayed is not really hypocrisy.
Better check your dates. Weiner confessed he sent the photos and wasn’t hacked on the 6th. Preibus was demanding the Dems call for his resignation on the 8th. Two days.
Other GOP leaders including Cantor also joined in, all while continuing to support Vitter. When Preibus was on Fox Greta VS had the integrity to ask about Vitter and he just avoided it , while continuing to Bash Democrats. It’s a political game, and the Dems play it stupidly all to often. They were so worried they’d look weak because they failed to get Rangle out.
I’m not suggesting they defend him at all. That would also be politically stupid. IMO, they can just tell the press, and the public the truth about how it works, and they should be more aggressive in calling out the GOP’s hypocrisy, and asking the press to please try and focus on far more relevant issues. Tell them that’s an issue between Weiner, his wife, and the people of his district. We don’t condone his actions in any way, but neither do we want this personal matter to continue to detract from far more important national issues. IOW, show some freakin backbone and actual leadership. Reacting with panic and trying to dispose of it as quickly as possible isn’t doing that.
The Vitter scandal may be old news but the GOP’s hypocrisy is very current and needed to be pointed out.
yeah, what the hell, it’s not your money. The fact of this expense, and the fact that NYC is losing two districts offered alternative solutions.
MAybe you can work on voting out the people who supported and still support Vitter while hypocritically calling for Weiner to resign.
New York City isn’t losing two congressional seats. New York State is. The general assumption is that one of the seats will be cut from the City or its suburbs, and one cut from upstate.
And Clinton got impeached because of a blowjob.
Oh no, wait! Clinton was impeached because of perjury and obstruction of justice. The call for Weiner to resign was because he lied to Congressional officials and the public about it. He also made an accusation of a crime but was smart enough not to file a report or press for an investigation which I suspect would have been illegal.
Once again, the Dems on SDMB are throwing up strawmen justifying that what Weiner did wasn’t wrong by ignoring what he did do wrong. I just wonder if after Clinton and Weiner they extend the same courtesy to Republicans that do nothing illegal but lie about it <cough Swarzenegger> <cough Bob Livingston>. Say what you want about David Vitter but at least he was honest about it when the scandel broke.
I do exetend the same courtesy to Republicans. I don’t care about ANY of their sex lives, and don’t think it’s relevant to their jobs.
Agreed but what if they lie about it? Same standard for Dems and Reps? Should they lose their office because of the lies?
Noted. The point relevant to this thread is that Weiner could have finished his term and been eliminated by eliminating his seat rather than the expense of a special election for a seat that may not exist.
The Dems could have condemned his actions, and still left it up to NY and his district to determine his future.
Don’t we safely assume 80 to 90% are lying already.
As long as they don’t get caught lying *{cough - cough - wide stance - cough} *… it’s all cool.
Lying about indiscretions is standard procedure, so no, I don’t really care if they lie. I don’t care what they do in their personal lives in the first place. A politician represents you in the political arena, you don’t get to have a say about their sex life. Nothing Weiner did was illegal, so nothing he did concerns me.
And so ends the story of the Capitoline Penis.
Anyone have any idea what the shouting was about in the press conference?
No, it’s simply years too late to score any political points with it.
My bad.
I live in New York City, so it probably is my money.
From the Democrats’ perspective, Weiner wasn’t worth the fight. It’s true that there wasn’t any consistency in Weiner vs. Vitter, but even if they’d made that point, what would it have accomplished?
