For maximum interesting-ness, let’s exclude those who don’t work M-F.
For me, mine is actually Tuesday. That’s because the other days have something that “distracts” me:
Monday: Magic: the Gathering draft after work.
Wednesday: Free lunch at work, plus knowing that after work is done, the week is almost over.
Thursday: Proximity to Friday
Friday: 'Nuff said.
Personally, I think of it as the day when the rest of the week feels more like downhill than uphill, if that makes sense. And for me, that’s Tuesday. I was more explaining why Wednesday does not feel like part of the uphill.
I’ve always thought Tuesday was the worst, yes. Thursday is actually my favorite since the anticipation of Friday is sometimes better than the actual Friday.
Thursday is my hump, at least this year. It’s my busiest day, full teaching schedule and department meeting, compressed down because I have first and last period off. I definitely take a deep breath when that afternoon calculus class ends.
I’m a stay-at-home mom to a toddler who goes to playschool on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings… so I’m alone with her all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That makes Thursday my hump day to get over.
In the last month or so (she recently turned two) she’s gotten far easier to entertain, though. It’s starting to seem too easy. Today (Thursday) I’m challenging myself by taking her to the zoo… without a stroller!
Back when I worked Sunday through Thursday, Tuesday was my hump day. I also joked that I didn’t have a “Monday” in my work week because Sunday was a pretty easy day work wise and Monday, being my second day of work for the week wasn’t really “Monday.”
For me, it isn’t a day. Every day I work is awful in some way.
Demanding customers, loud coworkers, a heavy load, the occasional kid or visitor, the system going down, the long drive, the fear of getting a big job wrong, the overly bright lights, the stink of Jimmy Johns mayonnaise…
I do, however, eagerly look forward to 3:30pm when the majority of people leave. My last hour is spent alone, in a darkened office, no noise, the bulk of the day’s work done…
Monday: Refreshed from the weekend, ready to go.
Wednesday: Lots of meetings; the day goes by fast.
Thursday: Almost Friday, trivia at 9pm.
Friday: 'Nuff said.
My hump day is Thursday. Or to be more correct, M-R are a mad rush at the office, and since about 75% of the staff takes alternate rotating Fridays off (9/80 plan) Friday is often very quiet.
