Isn't Kevin Federline part black?

Who wishes they didn’t know who Kevin Federline is?

Agreed. As Tom Papa put it, “It was a white guy with dreadlocks, so right away you know he makes a lot of mistakes.”

Yeah, but you can only wait so long for these people to arrive.

I believe that was annulled, which means, legally, that it’s as though it never happened.

His legacy will live on in the form of a trivia question answer.

My white son does the occasional dreadlocks thing. Mostly I hate it, but the bigger issue is that I don’t know how he does it. He has straight hair! It’s not easy to cultivate dreads with straight, rather smooth hair.

You know, I always thought dreadlocks were a black, kinky-haired thing. But every human race has sported them at some time or other. And lots of ancient socities, including the Egyptians, Greeks, and Chinese, have had dreads.

From the wikipedia article on dreadlocks

If someone is sporting a Polish plait, that’s cause for concern. But if the dreads look nice and tidy, then I’m all for it. When I get older and settled into a career, I plan to wear them.

I don’t know about dreads plural, but I have what seems to be on big dread if I sleep wrong and I have very straight, smooth hair. I don’t know how it works, but sometimes it happens even if I brush it before I go to bed.

I disagree that white people should not wear dreads or cornrows for cultural reasons, any more than I am about to tell black people they should not straighten their hair. Everyone seems to want what they can’t easily have, which is true of many fashions that have nothing to do with race.

It does look stupid if someone with hair like mine has braids with little straight bits sticking out like straw from a bale all over the place. Also, most of the dreads I see on black people look clean. Most of the dreads I see on white people look filthy. I don’t know why, it is just an observation. I do know my hair is so oily I can get comb marks in the evening when I washed it in the morning. I do have to wash it daily and sometimes twice a day. I have been told repeatedly by black people (during hair care discussions not out of the blue) that if I keep washing my hair so often, it will fall out or break off. My grandmother, a beautician, tells me that most black people have scalps that tend away from oily and that one must be very careful when treating their hair, using more gentle solutions etc. or their hair will break or burn off. It might just be that people can’t get or keep dreads if they wash their hair as often oily hair really needs to be washed to keep it looking nice, but people with dry scalps will look fine.

Yes, I think K-Fed is part black. I think the part of him that is black is his imagination.

I also think that dreadlocks are a difficult hairstyle to get started and need to be maintained or they just look filthy, like matted hair on a cat. Especially on people of non-african descent. Personally, they’ve always seemed like too much trouble for me and early-onset male-pattern balding prompted me to shave my head.

I think it means that as far as her church is concerned, it didn’t happen. Doesn’t matter if they got it annulled, we still know they got married.

Ever see the members of Korn? Come to think of it, their name is Korn and half their members or so have cornrows…hmmm…different spelling, but still…

That would rule out about 70% of rap “artists.”

No one has ever confused me with Jeff Spicoli.

Be fair. That would rule out about 80% of everything “artists.”

I’ve never seen or met you. My statement only applies to those I have seen or met.

Too true.

What’s a “Polish plait”? I’m Polish and I’ve never heard of it.

Personally, I’ll trade someone their kinky hair for my stick-straight, baby fine German hair. I’m like lee, my hair soaks up more oil than OPEC. I shudder to think what it would look like if I didn’t wash it every night with a clarifying shampoo. (Thank god for perms-not only do they give body and nice curls, but they also dry my hair out, which is a GOOD thing!)
