It could be a stretch for you, but

can you come up with your favorite artists in the genrés that you hate?

I dislike country music, but I like Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw (mostly)
I don’t like rap as much as I used to, but will always love Ice Cube (not in a intimate way, more of a fan way)
I’m not into ‘swing music’ but I do like Louis Prima.

Any takers?

I dislike country music, but enjoy Garth Brooks and Johnny Cash.
I don’t really care for rap, but Grandmaster Flash and other old-school rappers are cool with me.
I can listen to jazz/swing/blues, especially Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Robert Johnson, et al.
(Oh and Brood: genres doesn’t have an accented e. Don’t meant this as an insult.)

I hate rap but one of my favorite musical groups ever is House of Pain.

I like Andy Warhol, but very little of his work or other seriographers.

I hate this message board, but I love IMHO

I don’t like much Country, but I like Willy Nelson and Johnny Cash. I don’t like much Rap, but I like Cypress Hill.

I hate rap, but I like ‘Ice T’.
I’m not too fond of country, but I like Junior Brown and Johnny Cash.

Louis Prima is pretty cool.

I don’t like “New Age,” but I love Yanni (seriously!).

Maybe this is too specific, but:

I dislike the group Toto, but their song “Africa” is one of my favorite pop songs.

Does John Denver count as “country” music?

I totally abhore Brittany Spears, but I like that song “I Did It Again”!

On the Country side, I can’t stand Pam Tillis, but my favorite song is “Mi Vida Loca”!

IMHO, John Denver is whatever one feels he has to classify him as in order to rationalize it in their own minds! :frowning:

Sassy

I grew up listening to rap and I hate the majority of the new stuff, but I’ll always love the Beastie Boys!

Lyle Lovitt changed my outlook on country music. Especially if you aren’t a country music fan, I heartily suggest that you catch one of his shows sometime. It’s magic.

I can fix that.

On the TV special where they showed Ms. Spears in concert in Hawaii singing “Oops … I Did It Again,” they showed these two old ladies (in their 60s or 70s) playing ukeleles and trying to sing “Oops … I Did It Again” by themselves.

I don’t know which was scarier … those old ladies, or Brittany herself. <shudder>
