I don't like most ________, except for ________.

This is kind of an antidote for the other “I don’t like…” threads. What are some examples of things you do like, even though you don’t generally like that type of thing? For example:

I don’t like most country music, but I do like Johnny Cash.

I don’t like most rap/hip hop, but I do kind of like some old school Run DMC or Grand Master Flash stuff. Eminem isn’t bad either.

I don’t like most IPAs, but I did once taste an IPA I did kind of like. It actually managed to taste hoppy without being bitter. Unfortunately I don’t remember what it was called.

I don’t think light beer should be allowed to use the word “beer”. It should just be “Yo, bruh, gimme a Light Malted Beverage!”

But I love Spotted Cow (technically a crafthouse ale, whatever that is). Lighter, but with definite flavor.

Oh, and I respect old classic country (Johnny and Willie), but I don’t like any modern country music. Except I really like Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown.

The problem with country is that there are two completely different genres called “country”, that have nothing at all in common other than the singers wearing broad-brimmed hats. Which is really annoying to me, because I love folk country, but hate pop country.

In the spirit of the OP, I don’t like rap, except for “White and Nerdy”.

I don’t like most anything by Paul Simon, or Simon and Garfunkel… except for “The Boxer.” Great song.

I don’t like fantasy but I love Star Wars (which I guess is technically science fantasy but still, I don’t like fantasy).

I don’t like gay porn, but… Ummmm n/m.

I hate nic cage, except for Raising Arizona and Leaving Las Vegas.

I don’t like Mark Wahlburg but I like Boogie Nights.

I don’t like rap/hip-hop, but for some reason, I like, "I Against I", by Mos Def & Massive Attack. Might be because it was in Blade 2, but it’s still in my everyday random playlist, close to 20 years later.

I don’t like most metal, except for One by Metallica
I don’t like most prog rock, except for Jethro Tull

I don’t like Stallone, but I love Demolition Man.

I don’t think I ever would have considered Spotted Cow to be a light beer. To me, it’s more on par with a wheat beer.
You might want to try Totally Naked. To me, that’s New Glarus’ light beer.
Of course, Spotted Cow is their flagship, so it has to appeal to the masses and can’t be loaded up with hops. In any case, it’s a really good beer.

I don’t like any multi-volume/Fantasy/Noble Quest/Magic Swords/Empires rising and falling etc…

except Lord of the Rings.

Another vote for “I don’t like country music, but I do like Johnny Cash”.

I don’t like “westerns” ( film/TV ) but I love ‘Deadwood’.

I don’t like Will Ferrell, except for “Stranger than Fiction”.

I don’t like corned beef, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, or rye bread. Except when they’re all together in a Reuben. Then they’re delicious. The only ingredient in it I do like is swiss cheese. Highly recommended if you’ve never had one in spite of it sounding gag-worthy.

I also do like gin or tonic, unless they’re in a gin AND tonic. Then it’s my favorite alcoholic beverage. Amazing synergy there.

I don’t like cheese or tomatoes, but I love pizza.

I don’t like liver, but I love* pâté *

I don’t like gangster movies, but I love Casino.

I don’t like Adam Sandler movies, but I love Little Nicky.

I don’t like rap, but I love “Gangsta’s Paradise”.

As a general rule, I disapprove of art about artists. It seems like a form of onanism.

But I love S.O.B., Living in Oblivion, and Singin’ in the Rain.

And I love “Drift Away”, “Six-String Orchestra”, and “American Pie”.

I don’t like tomatoes, but I love tomato soup
I don’t like mushrooms, but I love mushroom soup
Actually, I discovered a few years ago that there are several foods I don’t like that, when blended into puree/soup, I find delicious.

Good one!

I’m with the OP:

I don’t like country music as now presented, but I really like country music when it was actually country music. (Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Eddy Arnold, Charlie Pride, et al)

I don’t like IPAs as a rule, but I really like Bridgetown IPA.

I don’t like rap/hip-hop much, but I liked Gangsta Paradise, Wild Thing, and Fresh Prince.
