It isn't easy being green in the MMP

Time to assume the position. I’ve finished 18 of 35 squares. Onward!!!

I hope you feel better soon Swampy

I hope the weather is good tomorrow, got to drive to Hagerstown and then home and then to Annapolis. I slid little bit today but i was driving too fast for the rain.

Every time you post that, I think of Clan of the Cave Bear.
I am terribly sorry, but I felt compelled to say something.

Barely skimming again, although it seems like this week has been a little less busy.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Apes.

Feel better, swampy!

Dinner was pizza and salad and I’ve been rescuing data from floppies. Well, from some of them. Am hoping to be able to rescue the rest, but am saving them for later because I have to use a different driver, maybe.

Nephew and brother are playing a videogame in nephew’s room.

Life is just one adventure after another chez GT.

Hugs for all.

I apologize, Swampy, for not wishing you the best of health and “A speedy recovery” as they would say at the Temple for praying for an ill person.

And I apologize, Gardentraveler, for not paying attention to your computer problems. What is your difficulty, and what are you trying to save from floppies? They are more safe that the ubiquitous flash or “thumb” drives.

Should Fairychat spare my life, I may be able to help you.

I do have fish that look like this->

Perhaps I am doing something wrong.

I worked. Got called a “stupid manager” because we were out of a discontinued item.:dubious: Eating dinner.

Well, you only look 2" tall on the Internet.

Feel better, swampy.

: waves at gt :

{{sari}}} if you need bail, we’ll pass the hat for you.

I met Spidey, my first Mumper. Was teh cool.

I am exhausted.

So looking forward to tomorrow and our Big Musical Mumper Meetup.

Cheers.

Jim

Blurf. That is all. There may be more later but first I need sufficient cups of tea to get over the blurf.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 74 for the day. Nice but whatever pollen is triggerin’ the allergies is all over the place. I’m sure most of it is oak and maybe the beginnin’ of pee-kahn. Those are my two worst. Thanks for all the feel betters. I will when the annual tree orgy is over. Meanwhile I shall muddle through. Daytime allergy stuff to get through the day and night time allergy stuff to knock me out so’s I can sleep. Slept I did last night for about nine hours after takin’ the night time knock me out stuff.

doggio how dare you not plan ahead enough so you can keep a stock of a discontinued item. :stuck_out_tongue:

flytrap sometimes it’s the ugly fish that taste the best.

Hope all y’all who are meetin’ up tonight have a great time. Spidey and Jim I’m sure y’all had a great time last night.

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Bein’ as I did not want to eat last night I guess this is a good thing. Purtification for irk must also commence as well as the ingestin’ of daytime stuff to keep me functional. Functional does not necessarily mean productive. Right now I’m goin’ for maintainin’ an upright position.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

At least you didn’t have to deal with the drunk guy from last Saturday who yelled at my manager because the security officer* told him that if he didn’t quit trying to look up escorts on the public, lobby computer he’d be arrested for soliciting prostitution. That was entertaining, especially all the stuff we said about him after he left.

*off-duty sheriff’s deputy

Haha, my first ever SDMB post was in a thread about that book series.

Blurf. Rainy and very slippery out here.

Happy Thorsday!

I NEED SLEEP!

I woke up and tried going back to sleep but since it’s been 2 hours I may as well get up.

It’s 41 degrees outside with a projected high of 56. Not too terrible.
I’ll be driving to Hagerstown the am to look at the house I like the best and drive past the house I like the least - and if that realtor is available go back through that one. I tossed out the HomePath because when a person can be thrown into a tizzy about what to eat for lunch said person should not take on the task of remodeling a house. That and the remodeling will delay the moving.
Then I will come home and get ready to tonights meetup! Maybe I will be able to squeeze in a nap.

Thank you Doggio, I may need the bail.
I’m glad you are feeling somewhat better Swampy
FCM and 2Gig and Capt I will see you tonight.

Happy First Day Of Spring. It had better start acting like Spring, too.

I hope everyone has a great time at the Mumper Meet-Up, because it sounds like fun!

Swampy, I hope you’re on the mend, soon. I detest feeling all icky like that.

Sari, remember…No body, no crime! I’ll pitch in on the bail, too. You’re dealing with a lot of crap!

Spidey, people can be arseholes.

SpazCat, some folks just never fail to amaze.

I’m about ready to go wandering off to go get groceries, then I’ll visit my dad in the nursing home (He has Alzheimer’s, doesn’t even remember me, but I bring him junk food, because he LOVES junk food! ), after that, I’ll come home, get a loaf of bread into the oven, and do some last minute stuff around the house, to make it presentable for company, as my aunt will be coming over for a visit.

Have a good day, everyone!

Happy First Day Of Spring. QUOTE]

You stole my opening line

Although it won’t technically be spring until 12:57 EST, at least that is what they said on the Tee-Vee. Weather is warming up until Sunday and then it gets cold and they are talking snow showers again on Tuesday . Power washing the house and picking up sticks are my weekend plans. Lots of excitment here in Jyxsterville.

Dare I hope that we’ve broken Higgs from waking at 5?? Not that the increasingly earlier sunrise is going to help, but she’s been staying quiet past 6:30, which is wonderful!!

**flytrap **- “Assume the position” always reminds me of the pledge scene in Animal House and Kevin Bacon in his tighty-whities. Of course, it’s much less sordid here - I’ve got the footrest up on the recliner, and the dog is curled up between my feet while the cat settles in under my left arm and across my left leg. I keep waiting for the other cat to join us.

Speaking of the position, I’ve got 23 squares - 12 to go before assembling. This will be a mostly Royal Blue afghan with random squares of random colors. I think it will be very nice.

Today is trash day - we’ve got a load of trash and recycling for the convenience center. I’ve also got to pick up my check at the store for whatever sold in Feb, and I’m going to gather all the assorted change in the house to deposit at the credit union. There’s also some paperwork **FCD **needs notarized, so we’ll take that also. And we’ll finish up by going to the car wash and getting a coupon for when I was double-charged (credit card was denied, so I used another, and both were charged. :smack: )

Tonight’s show starts at 8, so we’ll probably leave at 6, allowing for traffic and maybe giving us time before the show to say hi to Jim, and definitely giving us time to chat with **sari **and find out about her home-buying adventures!

Add to that a clear sky and promise of sun - it’s shaping up to be a good day! Happy Thursday!

I think thissays it all…

:stuck_out_tongue:

It’s the assembling that always kills me. I hate it so much. I can’t tell you how many piles of squares I’ve put aside to assemble later and then just thrown out after six months of not giving a damn about sewing them together.

Poor Winchester had to go to doggie day care today, because a realtor called about showing the house in the middle of the day. I got another call a few minutes ago about showing it tonight, so even after work and picking up the doggie, I can’t go home. This gives me an excuse to go out to dinner, and the more people look at the place, the bigger the possibility of an offer soonish. I told the universe I would like to move sometime in mid-May, so I hope she’s listening.

And I am also with Mom on “assume the position” meaning Kevin Bacon getting paddled in a frat house. Wow. That sounded way dirtier than I meant it to, but I’m totally okay with that.

I got nuthin’

:o

**Drae **- I hate sewing the squares together, too, but since these afghans are for charity, for some reason, it doesn’t seem as onerous a task. I lay them out to find the arrangement I like, based on the colors, then make stacks of squares that will become strips. Last step is to sew the strips together and do one final round on the assembled afghan. I don’t know why it’s so satisfying, considering how much I hate doing it.

My daughter gave me a bag of squares she’d made and abandoned. I edged them all in black and stitched them together - first team afghan I’d ever made! Of course, by that time, she’d completely given up on crocheting. Her loss. Somewhere a retiree is enjoying the afghan.

I need to shower and get started. You people need to quit distracting me!!!

I don’t mind the one or two final edging rounds, even when it’s a bed-sized blanket. Or even making the strips, so much. But sewing the strips together … gah.

Roomie and I tried to make a team blanket once, and discovered it didn’t work. We have different tension, so all the squares were different sizes, plus I’m left-handed, so all my work leans in the opposite direction. But we used thick black haphazard stitches, called it the FrankenBlanket, and gave it to somebody anyway.
