does the board seem to be running very erratically lately? I’ve noticed some rather long load times (even getting on the home page reading the articles there). Its almost like the bad old days when it took minutes to load a thread, and attempting to post was a chancy thing at best.
I am just wondering if its me (or specifically my ISP) or if anyone else has noticed anything.
It’s really erratic, though. If my connection takes too long to load, I’ll sometimes just shut off the DSL for a moment, let it re-sync, then the Dope loads up like lightning. Weird.
I have a tendancy to start three or four threads loading in different tabs all at the same time. Then I start reading one of them while the others open. For the last week or so, I’ll frequently have all of the tabs time out. I try opening one at a time: time out. Nothing. I can try the same threads a few minutes later and have all of them open instantly.
Ironically, attempting to open this thread timed me out. :smack: Anyway, I’m glad its not just me. I’ve been doing some connectivity testing of my connection, and while my ISP sucks (Broadband out of tune, oversold, ect.), its not THAT bad…except coming here lately.
Anyway, thanks for the responses. Hopefully whatever is going on they will get someone on it. Anyone know who their provider is and how they are hooked up to the internet? (I’m too lazy to do a DNNSTUFF lookup atm).
Yeah, the techs are being made aware of the situation. As Jerry mentions in the announcements we’ve had two hardware failures in a very short space of time, which is two too many.
I’m routinely having timeouts of two varieties–most commonly, the “unable to find” message, but also, sometimes my command seems to just disappear and I’m still at the page I started on with nothing thinking about executing.
I have yet to use SDMB this summer without at least two timeouts per session, and I’m on a nice fast machine with a good connection.
