It looks like Lieberman is taking it in the shorts in the Ct. Democratic Primary

Fuckin’ a. The only way I can tell the difference between CNN and ESPN nowadays are the ads and even those are getting a little fuzzy.

Then why do you keep supporting your team while the stadium is crumbling? I have no doubts that Republicans support their team no matter what, and given where you sit, it must look like everyone treats this as a game. That’s why I’ve referred to them as Party before Country Republicans for a long time now. As bad as things are in this country, polling still suggests that ~ 70% of Republicans think that Bush is doing a good job. (And before you suggest that you don’t support Bush mindlessly, I’ll remind you that there is a search feature here at the SDMB - you are consistently one of the first to toady up to the defense of all things Republican.)

The fact is that this is not a fucking game - thousands of people are dying and will die because we have a dipshit in charge of things. Our economy is limping along and only a few people are seeing the benefits of our current economic strategy. Our energy policies are for shit. Our foreign policies and standing in the eyes of the world is for shit. Essentially nothing is going particularly well for our country right now.

One of the reasons that Democrats are lambasted for intraparty divisions and disorganization is because they generally don’t care for their party more than they do their country.

All I would ask you to do is vote your conscience. Okay, I’d ask you to get a conscience first, and then vote it.

Not only did Lieberman lose…but he’s vowed to run asan independent.

Yes, because taking votes away from the Democrat in the mid-term election will do good for the party. Go away, Joe.

I’m having a delicious thought right now…

Wouldn’t it be GREAT if the Democratic Party told Joe that if he ran as an independent, he would no longer be welcome in the party?

Robin

What are you getting at here? They can’t do that. Anyone can join any party and no party can kick anyone out or revoke their membership.

I think that if he ran as an independent, he, Joe L, is leaving the party. So, he’s out.

“Steal” was probably the wrong word. Maybe I should have said “siphon”? If he runs as an Independant, I predict that most of the Democrats in that state would vote for him, and enough Republicans as well, for him to pull out a victory.

If somebody saved a stash of those “SORE LOSERMAN” signs, he could make some money on eBay (“6” stickers sold separately).

Maybe so, but he/she has a better chance against Lamant than he/she would have had against Lieberman. And all the seniority Lieberman had in the Senate will be lost. And now there’s a potential party split, since L. is running as an independent. I’m amazed some people think this result is a poke in the eye to President Bush; I bet he’s pleased as punch.

He will be as soon as someone explains it to him.

Wait – Are you implying that the President is . . . stupid?

That’s genius, man! It’s just one of those things that gets funnier every time you say it. It must be your changing intonation that keeps it so fresh.

Do I detect a note of sarcasm?

From you or from her?

It’s Lam**o**nt.

Whoa! He’s a Lifesaver?!

I know. This morning, I was thinking that, assuming he wins as an Independent, he might change back over to Democrat, thwarting the will of Connecticut Democrats, the majority of whom wanted Ned Lamont to represent them in the Senate. And it would be sweet if the national and/or state party told Lieberman to buzz off.

She’s a Grade-A cunt. Back in March, she was stopped by a Capital cop for being in a secured area, since she wasn’t wearing her badge, he had no idea who she was. She responded by physically attacking him and crying “racism!”

Because the “moonbats” don’t put party before country?

Hmmmm. . . that word-- moonbats. I’ve read it somewhere before. Some other messageboard where the Kool-Aid poisoning has rotted people’s minds and now everyone there is either retarded or crazy. They use that word a whole lot over there.

Oh well, welcome to the boards GA.

Only the Shadow knows.

Hey, at least Bush didn’t try to give him a shoulder rub.
