It’s not an iPod, but it’ll do. (or another reason why my GF rules)

I start this story by saying that my girlfriend rules.

So, every time someone has asked me what I wanted for Christmas, or my birthday (which was in Jan.) my response has been “I’d like a Best Buy gift card.” My plan was to use the accumulated gift cards to purchase a 40gig iPod. Well, the time has come so I checked the Best Buy web site to see if the bugger was in stock at my local store…it was! Praise be to Best Buy! So off I go to my local best buy armed with over $300 in best buy gift cards & reward zone credit only to find that they don’t have the iPod in stock. Well, they do have a few, but they are open packages & refurbished models. Not interested. I ask the nice fellow to check the stock at the next closest store, he does…same thing. In fact, no stores anywhere near me have a new one, and the website lists them as out of stock. After a few phone calls, I’m told no one really knows when they’ll be in again.

Damn Best Buy!

Now I’m sitting on a bunch of Best Buy credit & no iPod when all I really wanted was an iPod. Well, not the end of the world, I’ll put off buying the iPod (I’ve gone this long without one) and I’ll use the Best Buy gift cards for something else…something practical.

So I call my girlfriend & tell her the above tale of moderate woe. We have plans of moving in together sometime in the near future, so I figure I’d consult her on what I can get at Best Buy that will come in handy in our new place together. She consults the web-site & sends me a link to this.

We notice that it’s on sale for about $90 less than the going price, so we figure that now’s a great time to invest in this thing, even though we don’t have our place yet. Carpe Diem!

I swear, it was her idea! Now, I’m not going to lie… I was pretty easy to convince. We were so excited at the store, she was literally skipping through the aisles with glee. I had a smile painted on my face too. So, even though we’ve stated our commitment to each other on many occasions, we now have a kegerator to cement that commitment.

There are tons of reasons why I love my girlfriend, but I just needed to share this one with the Straight Dope.

Your GF rocks! I would have to say that this trumps even the ShitBitch Bear as a valentine’s gift. I’m going to send this post to OhFace as a “hint”.

LOL. I read it before you had a chance to send it to me. You’d have had a better chance of getting it if you had also said your girlfriend RULES in your post! $500 isn’t quite falling into my V-day budget. Though if it were it’d be interesting to figure out where to put the thing! Hmmmm.

I’ll offer up my house as a holding place until you guys figure something out

's good. Not as good as home-brewed beer. still, 's good.

Those words do ring true, Sir Regallag…an old college roomate of mine used to do quite a good job with the homebrewing. When my lovely lady friend (who rules!) & I do move into our new place, it is my plan to learn the ways of the homebrew. I shall strive to be a nexus where the best beer has to offer will reside under our roof.

Among those plans is a wine-rack devoted to bottled Belgium brews. I already got her approval.
