It SNOWED all day today.....

Big deal you say, right? :dubious:

Big deal if you live in the desert.

In Southern California.

Less than 3000 feet in elevation and 34.5 degrees North latitude.

It’s been snowing since Saturday night around 9:00pm. All snow, and no rain. It would let up for about 15 minutes here and there, but mostly snowing throughout the day. Sometimes it would melt on ground contact, but now it’s staying put…4 to 6 inches are currently on the ground. It’s beautiful scenery when there is snow on the Joshua trees. Especially on the weekends, fortunately.

It rarely snows here…2 days per year, maybe three…usually one inch overnight is the typical snow event here. Melts the next day, usually by 9:00 am.

This is certainly not the case tonight.

Not bitching, just reporting the surrealism we are experiencing here in the high desert. I actually am enjoying this.

Crap, I thought I posted this in MPSIMS…my bad. :smack:

My folks live in Palm Desert. Anywhere close to you?

UPDATE: 10:00am, Monday, 11/22/04

STILL SNOWING (moderately)…about 8 inches on the ground, with tree limbs breaking under weight of snow (neighbor’s problem, not mine). Had to close my business today, not enough snow removal equipment to deal with the roads that we use.

DM,
Palm Desert is about 115 miles driving distance from Apple Valley. Straightline distance is probably 65-75 miles. There probably is not any snow in Palm Desert because there near or below sea level (hence “Low Desert”) whereas Apple Valley is closer to 3000 feet in elevation (“High Desert”). Usually, there is a 10-15 degree difference between Palm Springs/Palm Desert/Indio and Victorville/Apple Valley/Hesperia throughout the year.

MODS: Please move to MPSIMS, thanks.
