I just shovelled 10" of heavy wet snow...

…off my driveway and the Winter Storm Warning is still in effect for 29 more hours! My kid got her first snow day in years and even kid #1 is getting half a day off as the U of Colorado is closing in 45 minutes.

We’re looking at two feet ultimately by the time it is done, with some places in the foothills getting up to four feet. Most of the leaves are still on the trees!

A big low is sitting in northern New Mexico pulling up moisture from the gulf and throwing it right up against the Rockies, releasing all the moisture on the Front Range, foothills and mountains.

No fun! I love the cooler weather, but I hate hate hate snow! And I fear we are in for a lot of it this year, if the amount of rain we’ve been getting is any indication.

It’s 75 and sunny here - want to come over?

We were supposed to get at least a few inches over the last couple of days. Not even one flake. Liars.

You can send some of that snow here. This is a ski town. We can use it!

This is why living in the Seattle area isn’t likely to bother me. People complain about the overcast and drizzle all winter long, but it is better than a foot or more of snow at a time, several times a year at minimum.

We get less precipitation than many other non-desert climates, but everything always thinks it rains so much (no, just so often, but so little).

I’m just glad that we average like 7 inches of snow a year, lol. (I moved from Kansas City, which averaged over 20 inches a year, which is still small, I know) If I WANT snow, all I gotta do is drive 2 hours and go into the mountains. Some of the places around here get like 200 inches a year or more- Paradise for instance, up in Mt Rainier gets an average of 630 inches a year)

It’s getting worse.

My youngest has a second consecutive snow day - I can’t remember that ever happening. I am very near the foothills, btw. Trees are busting up all over. Colorado State University had to close their oval because the big old trees were snapping their branches on the students below.

Good luck Nebraska, Wyoming, and the Dakotas.

The average high for today in Denver is 60°. It was 60° yesterday before the cold front arrived.

I’ve never been so happy to live in balmy tropical Vermont, where it’s in the 40s and hasn’t snowed yet.

Only about 10” on top of Hoosier pass (south of Breckenridge). Breckenridge and Frisco only got a few inches.

Hoosier also gets hit when it’s an upslope storm, so we usually get it no matter what. It is cold, 0 f. And I expect more snow today.

I’ll need to plow tonight if I can. Sort of sucks because I have been fighting a cold for about 2 weeks. If I can get up the drive, I will probably put it off till the weekend.

Yep. It looks like here in Lakewood, we’ll stop just shy of 2’. It has been a heavy storm, especially for October. But on the bright side, we should be in the 50s for Halloween and back up to 60° by Monday.

I love it. I’m making some giant snow-jack-o-lanterns for Halloween. Epimetheus, I remember living in Seattle. A really bad snow is like 8 inches of heavy, wet muck. Which wouldn’t be so bad except for the hills and minimal snow-removal equipment. This round in Denver would have crippled the Emerald City, most of us still have to go to work. :frowning:
