So, Where is the Snow?

The entire month of November was unusually warm here. Kind of nice, too. Clear, slightly chilly evenings, perfect for stargazing. Partly cloudy days, light breezes, perfect convertible weather.

Then the weather guys with their Magic 8-Ball, told us it was going to snow today. Fine with me, I love winter.

But not this stuff!

YUCK!!! First, rain. Really cold wind, too. Then, freezing rain. Now, sleet. I hate sleet.

You promised me snow! Why no snow?!?

Told you all I’m highly exciteable…

THE SNOW IS HERE.

You can have it. Yech.

What are you complaining about? We’ve got tons of it here.

If it’s gonna be winter, I would rather see snow than sleet or freezing rain.

I actually liked it when I lived in Lakewood, Colorado.

But, I can see how endless weeks of mushy, slushy, grimy, way too much snow would get to you.

I hate sleet. And spiders. Not too keen on lemurs, either. Or whelks.

But, I really do hate sleet. It’s the nasty, runny nose with a bad cough kind of winter weather.

You can have ours…

It’s currently threatening to spill itself mercilessly sometime this evening/morning.

We’ve got our first Winter Storm Watch of the season, and the first serious prospect of more than 4 inches of snow in two years. I’ve got my fingers crossed!

You can have the less than an inch forecast for the St Louis area tomorrow. I won’t mind at all.

I love it here. We get the snow to play in and enjoy, and then the next day is sunny and warm and it all melts. If you really need some more, you can drive a half hour into the Sierras and have all you want.

But I do miss Ithaca. Whatcha doing there, Terminus?

i want snow! gimme the snow!!

<throws tantrum and rolls around on the ground>

I hear it snows on Mauna Loa

I wish I had a built in spell checker.

Try living in Tennessee some time. I can do a better job of predicting the weather by looking at the radar maps, than the dipshit weather guys here! It’s amazing, they never get it right. They say snow, and nothing happens (not even the pathetic few flakes which pass for snow in this state), other than the terrified locals descend upon the grocery stores and buy up all the bread and milk.

Even better, when we actually had a severe storm that resulted in people being without electricity in below freezing weather for several days, nearly all of the folks interviewed complained that they were forced to throw out all their food since there was no electricity to run their refridgerators. Uh, hello? There’s a giant fucking freezer just outside your door! Why the fuck didn’t you simply box the food up and stick it outside? If you were worried about someone stealing it, you could have locked it in the trunk of your car! It’ll stay cold/frozen, ya fuckwits! Sheesh!

named after the famed 19-century English prizefighter “Kill-a-Man” Jarrow.

Tuckerfan, at least you have chance of snow tonight and tomorrow. But “they” say nothing south of I-40. That leaves me out by five or six miles. The least you can do is send a snowball by taxi…

Now I’m in a snit.

Yeah, fuckin’ right. There’s about as much chance of it snowing tonight as there is of my getting laid: Zero. The weatherfools may say that there’s a chance, but any halfwit who looks at the radar map their using will know that ain’t gonna happen. Even it did snow, there wouldn’t be enough snow on the ground to make a mouse snowball, muchless one large enough to pelt someone with!

I predict the weather by looking at my wooly worm. The cops around here keep telling to put my pants back on.

The thermometer on the bank I pass on the way to work read “+3” this morning. I don’t know that the plus sign has any real meaning at that point.

Anyway. Snow. It’s here. Drop by.

I know what you mean. I hate the cold, but I thought the one redeeming aspect of winter in NY would be snow. Last year it snowed a total of once. Last week they said we were getting lots of snow late last Tuesday night, and I was excited about waking up to a winter wonderland. But it turned out to be too warm on the coast and we just got really cold rain. Now they’re saying we’ll definitely get snow Thursday, which might help compensate for the damn cold day we had today. If it doesn’t snow this time, I think I’m going to have to ask to speak to someone’s supervisor.
