It was a dark and stormy morning - an MMP

That place sounds nummy FCM. If it were me, I’d have the crab soup and the Scallops Gregorio. The prime rib also sounds good. Of course, since they just have to have cheesecake, that would be dessert.

The cornbread, sausage and cheese casserole just finished baking. It smells soooooo good! Making me hungry! ACBG is on his way to the swampcave. He just saw his last patient. Soon as he showers and changes we’re going out to the steakhouse. I’m looking forward to it cause it’s been awhile since we’ve eaten there. The casserole is for a brunch after church tomorrow. Tomorrow is All Saint’s Sunday and the kidlets are doing an All Saint’s parade as part of the processional tomorrow morning. Should be a site to see. I’m also Lector tomorrow. I get to read this:

Revelation 7: 2 - 4, 9 - 17

7:2 I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to damage earth and sea, 3 saying, “Do not damage the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have marked the servants of our God with a seal on their foreheads.”
4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the people of Israel:

9 After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. 10 They cried out in a loud voice, saying,
“Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
11 And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 singing,
“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom
and thanksgiving and honor
and power and might
be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from?” 14 I said to him, “Sir, you are the one that knows.” Then he said to me, “These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 For this reason they are before the throne of God,
and worship him day and night within his temple,
and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them.
16 They will hunger no more, and thirst no more;
the sun will not strike them,
nor any scorching heat;
17 for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of the water of life,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

ACBG is going with me. He does this from time to time. I think tomorrow is because he gets to go eat real good afterwards. Hmmm… who woulda thunk the way to a man’s soul would be his stomach too.

Taters I’m glad your MIL is feeling all better. Here’s hoping she does get to come home tomorrow cause, well, being in the hospital is ick. Have fun tonight!

Doggio yikes! Feel better, ok?

Hey! That was the reading on Wednesday!

I just got back from church. This evening’s reading’s were about the “Hear, O Israel, the Lord thy God is one”, and the gospel reading was about the Two Great Commandments.

I’m about halfway through The Death of Adam- essays on… waitaminnit… Essays on Modern Thought, also by Marilynne Robinson, and it’s really, really good. Read Gilead first, though.
Mindfield, I was being kind of snarky. Every single time Mr. Lissar orders at any of the fast food places near his work, they get his order totally wrong. Minimal comprehension of English would be lovely.

Time to make dinner, and then do fun housework. I came home from Christmas shopping with two new shirts, three pairs of socks, and the first season of Battlestar Galactica. BG is for Mr. Lissar. One thing for someone else, five things for me. It seems fair.

I did decide to make SIL a necklace, give my MIL Lynn Flewelling’s Hidden Warrior trilogy, and that BIL is Mr. Lissar’s problem, so it was productive mall time.
Attacks Husband just called, and is coming over for dinner. I’d better make it.

I forgot- I just listened to Doctorin’ the Tardis, which is a combination Hockey Song and the Doctor Who music. If you can find it and listen, it’s hilarious.

I’d just like to state: Trader Joe’s Crab-stuffed Pacific Flounder is YUM. And it was only $2.99, which is better than most single-serving items. Made plain rice and a big mâche salad with mandarin oranges, grapes, red bell pepper, avocado and toasted pine nuts. It’s one of my very favorite salads (there are several variations on it. For some reason, I only have red wine in the house, so I’m having it for dessert (way too strong to go with dinner). And now that I’ve read that link, I find that I should probably have been eating mâche salads a lot lately. It’s supposed to reduce stress (it’s related to valerian).

::Adds yet another book to the to-be-read list::

I’m listening to one of my favorite albums, Girados, which is a concert from a tour that Miguel Bosé and Ana Torroja (Spanish pop stars) did together a while back. Haven’t listened to it in a while. It’s one of those albums that instantly makes me more cheerful. (Why haven’t I been listening to more music lately?)

Well, I guess I’ve taken enough of a break. Back to getting laundry and house under control.

LiLi we Whiskypalians mysteriously move stuff like All Saint’s Day to the following Sunday a lot. Thus, All Saint’s readings on the Sunday after All Saint’s. We’re sneaky like that.

Dinner was good! I had an excellent 12 ounce ribeye with a loaded baked N.O.T., a caesar salad, and we shared an order of green fried tomatoes as an appetizer. The place makes great green fried maters with a spicy dipping sauce. We had an even dozen maters this time so we didn’t have to fight over the last one. Both of us are stuffed! ACBG has crawled into bed and I will join him shortly for snuggle time. Poor thing’s tahred so I bet he drifts off to sleep before well, you know… bless his heart. He did work ten hours today. We’ll make up for lost time tomorrow, I promise.

As it happens, I had the crab soup (they must have whispered the word “crab” over the pot while it cooked. It was tasty, but not crabby.) and the Scallops Gregorio - OMG they were nummerrific, just short of orgasmic!!! <insert drooling smiley here> And **FCD ** had the prime rib with a salad and the garlic-rosemary potatoes. Plus there were rolls and bread with butter. We each brought home half of our entrees, and neither of us could handle dessert. But we decided it’s a place worthy of another visit.

I just took pics of all of my ceramics, but my rechargeable batteries are dead, so they’re charging now. I can’t upload any pics till the charging is done. So it may not be till tomorrow.

For now, I’m gonna sit here and digest them wunnerful scallops.

Checking in.

Another Domestic Bob Saturday. Spent $$$ on groceries and a trip to Lowes. Took a trailer load of trash to the dump. Hung more curtains, and picked nuts.

I have a butt<snerk> in the oven to shred when done, and I’m about to go pickle some sausage.

Oh, and the county EMS was selling Brunswick stew for a fundraiser today. I’ve had it once before, in a restaurant, and it was lackluster. The stuff today was great, and I’m a big fan now. For those who don’t know what it is, imagine Campbell’s Beef and Vegetable soup, only thick, and made with shredded chicken and pork.

StringDude, I grew up in Elkhart County Indiana, a wee bit south of you.

I really don’t have a whole lot of problems in this department, there just seem to be a few really bad spots where I have to make absolutely sure I’m clear, concise, and apparently have to enunciate every syllable with precision – slowly.

Completely Useless Trivia of the Day: The Timelords are comprised of Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, better known as The KLF. The band name was used specifically to release this song, and song was written explicitly to prove that they could write a number one hit. The song was followed up with a book: The Manual (How To Have A Number One The Easy Way). One-hit-wonders Edelweiss followed the direction of The Manual to write and release their 1989 hit Bring Me Edelweiss. It peaked at #7 in US dance charts.

Wee!

Back from work. The Dramamine finally kicked in at 7(four hours after I took it), so I survived the night. Thanks for the thoughts, everyone. Tomorrow I’m doing nothing other than Mass.

Al, I have a cousin in Grand Rapids, and a bunch more family strung out between there and Alpena.

bobbio, if you keep picking nuts, you’ll get hair on the palms of your hand, then go blind.

gt, I think they are building a Trader Joe’s in Cary. Sound like something I might have to check out.

Went to a friends to watch the internet feed of the hockey game in Huntsville - which we couldn’t get. Couldn’t get the radio broadcast either. We contented ourselves with checking pointstreak every few minutes - and the Snakes got the win 4-2. Huntsville is coming here for a 4:00 game tomorrow, with a Booster Club tailgate before. Should be a good time.

I’m a tired SCL so I’m off to bed.

What? No one’s up earlier than me? I can’t believe it. Of course, I’ve been awake since 4:30 or so. I’ve had breakfast (rice pudding, sort of and coffee) and am now getting sleepy again.

GT

I was up, just reading the NY Times online,

I’ve been up an hour and a half. Bernie’s been out and fed. Just finished uploading these - now I want breakfast.

Then I get to do laundry - woo and hoo!!

I like the margarita pitcher.

I was up at nine. That’s pretty good for a Sunday.

Thanks for the song info. It’s really catchy. Do you happen, off the top of your head, to know the title of a song that goes, "Daddy, can I go out and hunt tonight? I feel like/ I feel like taking a life."? It was another silly song they played a couple of weeks ago at the club. Driving Husband recently found a ridiculous song called Zombie Girl, or something like that, by a husband-and-wife team who went into music as a joke. I think it’s stupid, Diving Husband thinks it’s brilliant.

We had nice pulled pork sandwiches for dinner, and Attacks Husband made Mexican hot chocolate, which was yummy.

Now I should eat something and then shred the Mexican Beef with peppers. After that I get to sort socks. Envy me.

FCM - beautiful work, as usual.

I’m trying to kickstart my morning with coffee - I need to get moving. I have to chop onions for the tailgate party - I’ll pick up the other stuff on the way. Hope today’s game is as good as last nights - it feels good to beat Huntsville since they knocked us out of the playoffs last season.

Magic is an attention whore. He’s still hissing and slapping at the others, who are mostly ignoring him.

I need to finish cruising the Dope, read some Fark, and decide which jersey to wear to the game. Decisions, decisions!

Now I should eat something and then shred the Mexican Beef with peppers. After that I get to sort socks. Envy me.

Sounds like Rippin Kittin by Golden Boy and Miss Kittin. (Spelling intentional)

Mommy, can I go out and kill tonight?
I feel, I feel like taking a life.
Please, I wanna steal the kitchen knife
and feel, feel like taking a life.

It’s pretty obscure, released on their 2002 album Or (samples available). There were a number of remix 12-inches and CDs, and being that you were at a club you probably heard one of those rather than the album version.

A husband and wife team doing Rob Zombie-esque material? Sounds hillarious!

What defines “mexican” hot chocolate?

Cellodude behold the wonder and numiness that is Mexican Hot Chocolate.

Home from church and brunch. Brunch was yummy. The bloody mary’s were especially nummy! Now I need a nap.

Well, it was was the kind that comes in a box labled Handmade Mexican style hot chocolate. The ingredients on the side are cacao beans, cinnamon, sugar. It’s in sort of baking chocolate style blocks, but the texture is grainy. You melt it with milk and cream. It’s very nice. You can get it at some of the Latin American grocery stores.
