Items in which you are a sucker for.

Irish music.
Pretty women.
Any of the new sour Altoids flavors, apple, raspberry, all of them.
Dim sum.
Bonsai.
Any fiction book which involves the Knights Templar.

Cups. God I love cups. Especially the super colorful cheap plastic ones at Wal-Mart. Cups cups cups. My mother always makes fun of me because I buy new cups all the time.

Also, anything with palm trees on it.

I love weird shit. Examples:

  • Rosetta Stone mouse pad (it’s even shaped like the Rosetta Stone: too cool.)
  • desk-top cannon that actually fires (uses caps; great for releasing aggression)
  • gryroscope
  • fossils, geodes, funky rocks of all sorts
  • balsa wood build-your-own dinosaur
  • gorgeously painted pterodactyl mobile (w/ a 3’ wing span)
  • horned toad carved out of cedar wood
  • filagree Victoria mourning brooch
  • Edward Gorey lithos
  • antique silver drop (for a necklace) shaped like a mushroom
  • desk-top model of a Stutz Bearcat
  • a pewter aardvark

Shopping for clothes bores and frustrates me witless. But museum stores…mmm.

And hardware stores. I can’t go in one without wanting to buy all kinds of neat things I don’t need.

Hmmm, let’s see . . .

Buying books I could just as easily get at the library . . . check.
Women with glasses . . . check (Actually, if you are anywhere in the vicinity of nerd cool, glasses or not, chances are we’re talking at least schoolboy crush)
Ghost in the Shell . . . oooooh, check (What did you think of GITS 2 Innocence?)

And my own:
The old horror movies. Hammer Films and Roger Corman stuff, especially. Tacky, garish color, laughable dialog, and special effects that my kid nephew could duplicate in his chemistry class. Now, that’s good horror. I blow more money on these DVD’s and books than anything else. If Vincent Price or Christopher Lee starred, appeared, or even worked as key grip in the movie, I want it in my collection.
Anything having anything to do with Lovecraft. I even liked Necronomicon, that’s how much I love Lovecraft. I’m actually kind of ashamed of the fact I like this movie, but there you go.

Ms Veb, that desk-top cannon will now be fodder for so many lovely images of your volleys hereabouts. Love the pewter aardvark, too. Martha Stewart; “Pewter, Revered Again”…

I am a sucker for weirdities, too:

Mexican Stuffed Toad Bands; yep, real stuffed toads playing instruments, Hecho en Mexico, especially awful bonus points for being a vegetarian.

Plastic Frilled (Jesus) Lizards; someone in China is cranking them out, my friends find them.

Small hardbound clinical medical books that have harshly lit graphic photos; Mouth Sores is entrancing; find them at local thrift shops from med students moving on up.

Bird nests; say that once to friends, endless supply.

Rocks-n-Fossils, yeps.

More, but on the normal front, baskets, bowls, and blue glass. Put something in a blue bottle, I’m a sucker.

Thanks Shirley for this thread; a fine good topic!

Fire Company Mugs & Glasses
Odd beer bottles
Old electronics & photography equipment
Tools-I’m a confessed tool ho-see something neat, it’s not a question of whether or not I need it, my mind is already trying to logically justify the purchase :smack:

Worn corduroy…the kind that is oh-so-soft to the touch.

I have some kind of perpetual obsession about purses. I am always on the lookout for that Ultimate Purse.

Rose-colored.
