It's 30º. Let's buy a bike!

Don’t you remember our rendezvous under the stars? When you held my hand so tenderly, and promised me…your chandelier? Oh - how cruel the mendacious heart!

runs away sobbing

Susan

Mom, you’ve already arrived…

taxi78cab and Sean F., come on down anytime and we’ll have a party for you! At least I will–I can’t make promises for anyone else. But I can promise that we’ll have plenty of chocolate.

And I can show you the “Great Wall of Chocolate”.

Mmmm, chocolate. Maybe I need to move to NC since they seem to be collecting it there. Tonight’s dessert was a piece of milk chocolate with rum, raisins and hazelnuts. One of my many favorites (although I actually prefer dark chocolate).

Re: bike owner’s manual. I’m with Kallessa there. What could it possibly contain?

Ashes, nice glasses. I’ve decided that I need new mugs. I have a motley collection of mugs that were gifts or inheritances from previous roommates (or ex-roommates of previous roommates). Finally cleared out the ones that don’t have sentimental value (most of them). I’m getting medium and large ones. First few are from (you’ll be shocked to hear this)…Target (black on black; simple, pretty, cheap). I’m still looking for larger ones that I like.

**VunderBob, ** the lunch with astronauts sounds VERY cool. Do they know that they should feel honored to be meeting an authentic MMPer?

Hmmmm… larger black mugs, gardentraveler? Plain matte black ones like yours I might have seen at CostPlus, but larger I don’t know about. Oh! You could maybe find one of those glaze your own ceramics shops and get a big mug and glaze it black. I like your sexy black dinnerware-- asian without the cheesiness.

Many mugs I know about. My family had a huge collection that covered about a ten by twenty foot space in the kitchen, I once counted 158 mugs and it was still being added to. It was what we bought for souvenirs, stocking stuffers, and just for fun, and guests loved to pick their own mug. I miss the great wall o’mugs.

Gah! That would be ten by twenty if you added up all the mug covered walls. Otherwise it sounds like we had some sort of freaky cathedral ceilinged monster kitchen. The really big room was the living room, you could play football in there, with full teams and commentators and everything (don’t ask how I know this).

The larger mugs don’t have to be black. I just have to like them. I don’t actually have the dinnerware, just the mugs. I’ve thought about buying the whole set, but I already have 2 sets of dishes, and having 3 sets takes me JUST a smidge too close to becoming my mother, who has at least 4 sets.

Of course, I could justify an additional set because the “good” set is actually from when my parents got married, so it’s not really mine. It just lives in my house. (And that, by the way, gives Mom at least 5 sets of dishes.) I’m pretty sure that’s a whole 'nother story, however.

Hadn’t thought about glazing my own… Good thought. There’s a glaze-your-own place right around the corner from me; maybe I’ll go check them out this weekend.

The great wall o’ mugs sounds impressive. Could be really fun with the right kind of mugs (mine are mostly boring).

I missed that earlier question about younger men. My boyfriend is 3 years younger than me, the one just before him was 2 years younger, the one before him is the same as the current one. I once dated a guy 12 years younger (he was legal), that didn’t last long. Both my grandmothers married younger me, one grandfather was 4 years younger than his wife and the other was 2 years younger.
I decided I would make some colcannon tomorrow so I had to go grocery shopping tonight. I also picked up some Guiness as I have never tried it. I chilled a mug and poured it in. I can’t decided if I like it or not. It was both smooth and bitter, if that makes any sense. Yet it didn’t seem as beery as other beers and the flavor wasn’t as strong as I thought it would be. I bought the draught in the cans because I remembered someone on these boards saying it was actually better than the Guiness in the bottles. They have a little plastic ball in the can to keep it foamy. I was a little worried at first when I heard something rattling around in the can.

Big mugs are important. They hold lots of tea. Lots of tea is important, especially in our household, since we’re not coffee-drinkers.

Who stole my husband? I got home, and he was missing. In fact, he’s still missing. Give him back. He has to do the dishes.

Not me. I checked, and my dishes are still dirty, so it doesn’t look like he’s here.

I like big mugs, too, and I drink lots of tea. We could be twins! But I do drink coffee sometimes. Nothing like a nice, strong mocha with a chocolate-coated coffee bean on top of a big pile of whipped cream. Yum, yum!

Another big mugger here. I found two really big plain mugs in a dollar store a while back. One got crashed but the other does daily coffee duty. On weekends I drink coffee outta my Key West fancy picture mug what The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] brought me back from her vacation there. It’s not quite as big as the plain mug but on weekends I gots time to go back for refills. There is also a lonely troop of other mugs in my kitchen cabinet…a pug mug, of course, and one with a picture of how to teach your cat to swim. I’ll refrain from the details of that one out of deference to all the cat-loving MMPers. Then there are various assorted non-matching mugs. I only have matching coffee “cups” what are not big enough for me. Mr. Anachi uses them.

Liss, did you find your missing husband yet? Is he microchipped?

Tupug

Yeah, I did my own dishes (and those of the Factotrix, and her youngest daughter who came over for dinner) last night. I also gave them a rematch in Scrabble. I won for the first time against them Monday night, and did it again last night. They were demoralized from the start - my initial draw of tiles gave me C, P, I, N, G and both blanks. I played them as the word “camping” for 76 points! That’s twice in the last year that I beat my GF!

Well, Happy St. Patrick’s Day to y’all. I wish I had an Irish joke to tell, but I don’t have any that I can remember right now.

I’ll be sure to let them know. After all, they get to rub elbows with me…

Lookie above! Not only do I screw up my own coding on a regular basis, but I just screwed up someone else’s. How’s that for ineptitude?

Here’s one for ya, sean

It was Paddy and Seamus giving the motorcycle a ride on a brisk autumn day. After a wee bit, Paddy who was sitt’n behind Seamus on the bike began to holler …“Seamus … Seamus … the wind is cutt’n me chest out!”

“Well, Paddy my lad,” said Seamus, “why don’t you take your jacket off and turn it from front to back … that’ll block the wind for you.”

So Paddy took Seamus’ advice and turned his jacket from front to back and got back on the bike and the two of them were off down the road again. After a bit, Seamus turned to talk to Paddy and was horrified to see that Paddy was not there. Seamus immediately turned the bike around and retraced their route. When after a short time he came to a turn and saw a bunch of farmers standing around Paddy who was sitting on the ground.

“T’anks be to heaven, is he alright?” Seamus hailed to the farmers.
“Well,” said one of the farmers, " he was alright when we found him here … but since we turned his head back to front … he hasn’t said a word since!"

Tupug BWAHA-HA-HA-HA-HA! Thank you.

Anybody got any special plans for tonight? I’m going to see some friends play in downtown Norfolk at the local Jillian’s. I hate the place, but Lucky Town hasn’t played around here for quite awhile.

Funny, I didn’t know kids’ bikes even had owners manuals until I had to build one for my daughter. I can understand why kids don’t read them, I could barely stand reading the thing, much less building the thing after midnight on Christmas Eve.

No big plans tonight aside from planting n the recliner and watching basketball, but that’s doctor’s orders. I’ve had this cold for a couple of weeks, and this week it decided it wasn’t going to let me breathe anymore. So I finally headed to the doctor, and after a 3 minute visit, I’m sent on my way with a nice case of bronchitis, and a prescript for some Zithromax, and orders to stay home from work the rest of the week. I’m also pumping nasal spray into my head, which gets me kind of loopy. I have also taken this opportunity of having 4 straight days off work to quit smoking, which probably helped the cold become bronchitis. So now I’m getting loopy from nicotine withdrawals too.

I had to visit Wal Mart last night. Actually it was this morning. About 20 after 3. Mrs. S woke up with a sore throat and terrible cough, and of course we were out of throat drops. Luckily Wal Mart is not so terrible a place after 3 a.m., and I picked up some potting soil to start my seeds, some vaporizer stuff, and throat drops, and didn’t have to wait behind someone who smells funny to check out.

Since no MMP post feels complete without a food reference, I just ate half a can of sour cream and onion pringles, and it’s only 10:30. Back to bed.

I’ve got my crock pot on at home with corned beef, carrots, and potatoes in it. I’ll add the cabbage when I get home. Originally, it looked like I might have 10 people for a dinner party tonight. Now I’m down to 4. :frowning: But we’ll still have our corned beef anyway.

MagicEyes, I probably won’t be back to Raleigh until Memorial Day weekend. Maybe we can have a cookout that weekend, followed by lots of chocolate? (I probably should check with TaxiDriver first to make sure offering to have a cookout at his place is ok… I never learn. One of the biggest fights my ex-bf and I had was over me inviting one of his friends up for the weekend one time. It seemed like a good idea at the time!) Anyway, whatever we do has to involve lots of chocolate!

I’m working tonight, and that’s about it. St Pat’s really isn’t a big deal for me, I don’t really care.

So, I met Taters last night! We had dinner at Old Town Mexican Cafe, and TALKED ABOUT ALL OF YOU!! Okay, well maybe not. But she did ask what the topic of the week was, and if swampy had snerked yet this week or not. (I think she misses you guys)

She’s a real nice lady, and anyone that gets a chance to chat with her should take her up on it.

It is freekin’ SNOWING in Chicago. Poor swampy. And poor me, too.

I’d eat corned beef if someone put a gun to my head, but otherwise, no. I like cabbage though. But I’m not cooking tonight, nosirreebob. I am going to a pub! Some friends of mine are playing there tonight, so it’ll be Celtic folk music and Guinness pie for me this evening! The WryGuy has a late meeting, and the Kid is having a friend over to watch movies and eat pizza, and I get to go out and have fun!

Wanna hear irony? Where I am going to be tonight is about a couple miles up the road from where swampy’s niece lives. But he’s meeting her TOMORROW, and he’s not coming this way, she’s going that way. We’re like… two ships that don’t pass in the night.
