It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it MMP

I’m shredding up a storm!! It’s amazing how much of my stuff has my SSN on it (no surprise - the gummint uses the SSN to identify everyone on every sheet of paper) and how few of FCD’s things I have to shred because of SSNs. I had a folder that was full of my pay records from when I was first commissioned in the Navy. They screwed up my advancement date and overpaid me for 7 months - that was a painful period when they caught their mistake and started taking money back…

I also found my childhood shot records - I’m holding on to them a while longer. Not sure why, but it seems wrong to shred them.

Back to the files!!

Home from Luterun deheathenization. ‘Twas a nice service. A retired Luterun pastor preached the sermon. I was disappointed that nobody nailed things to doors but other than that it was a good service. Ya know, Martin Luther’s nailing of his 95 Theses to the church door (the community bulletin boad), would be akin to him postin’ his 95 Theses on his facebook page today.

Ham ‘n bean soup and cornbread for N.O.L. Matter of fact cornbread is bakin’ away as I post. In addition, I am, of course, enjoyin’ that all important post deheathenization Bloody Mary. Hey, it’s Reformation Sunday, the Bloody Mary is red, therefore it is meet and right so to do.

Laterz!

blurf

I was hoping Reformation Sunday meant there would be a bunch of hot reform school girls around. :(

And “Kirking my Tartan” sounds naughty.

Swampy, Thanks for the info and ignorance fighting, otherwise I probably would not know that my IRL first name is a verb, a noun and a place name. Guess I need to do some Kirking.

Irked last night with the hippies and we did stoner Hip-Hop. Yes Virginia, last night was weird.

Happy to see that the sickies seem to be getting better.

Need more coffee and I better shuffle off to get some braaaaaaaiiiiiiinnnzz as I am hongry.

Cheers all

Jim The Reaver

It is, trust me

JTR

Just over halfway thru with the assorted shredding/trashing of old files. I’ve found some cool stuff, like the in utero heartbeat monitor strip of my daughter and my childhood shot record and stuff my kid wrote to us eons back. I also discovered the the first house my sweetie and I bought together was mortgaged at 12.5%!!! 1984 was not a mortgage-friendly year…

Back to the shredder - one full bag and one half bag so far, plus a large box of papers that didn’t need to be shredded. Much recycling shall ensue!

Home from watching piddle pup

Time to get to irk.

kirking my tartan does sound naughty

Somehow I knew you’d get a kick out of that.

Tarting the Kirk sounds even naughtier.

So, anywho, N.O.L. has been consumed. OYKW is at his place takin’ care of laundry and nappage has ocurred. A nice, lazy Sunday afternoon at da cave.

Itchy throat and ear canals are VERY annoying.

Now DH is getting this bug. Deheathenating today is not happening, between both of us feeling too cruddy to go and thinking maybe exposing others to the plague-of-the-week might be a bit unkind.

When my sweetie got back from running his errands, we ran to Salsa’s for lunch. The portions there are so huge, I’ll be having Pollo Fiesta for lunch tomorrow. Yum!

I’m about halfway thru the last box. Whew, what a chore!

OK, so what is the point of those Twix candy bar commercials? For non-Amurrkins Twix is a candy bar/cookie ummm… candy bar that comes two to a pack. What’s the deal about the Left Twix vs. Right Twix commercial? Am I supposed to eat only one or the other? Just stoopit! Does not make me want to buy Twix.

Yeah, I’m a little bored. Why do you ask? :stuck_out_tongue:

It is marginally more tolerable than the other commercials where everyone sounds like a herd of feasting pigs when they eat their Twix.

uh oh Nettie

Swampy I don’t understand the love for Twix anyway. I’d rather have a KitKat.

It’s a little late for N.O.L., a little early for dinner but I am hungry. I don’t know what I’ll have. Probably soup of some kind.

I prefer KittyKittys (our name for KitKat) as well. They just taste better. Plus the commercials get on my nerves less. Maybe they should use that as a slogan. “Kit Kat, our commercial is less annoyin’ than the Twix commercial.”

I prefer Kit Kats(dark chocolate version), too.

Feel better, Nettie and DH.

I am pondering how to cook my chicken tonight.

I was once given a dark chocolate KitKat as a reward for some translation work.

Firstly, did your Mother not tell you as a child?

And secondly, you folks watch commercials?

I don’t get the Twix campaign either. I don’t much like their candy. Oh, I’d eat it if someone gave me some for free, but I don’t see me spending money on it.

And I’M DONE!!! Whew, what a chore that was! Three boxes of papers reduced to 2 boxes of paper, 3 bags of shreds, and half a box of empty folders, plus a few other things that I need to rehome. Among those other things, I came across my journal from boot camp! I’ve got to read it and see how much I remember from 40 years ago. I may even type it up for posterity.

I want a milkshake, dammit! Someone bring me one - NOW!!!

Flytrap Twix was not a childhood candy. It did not come into bein’ until I reached my adultery. So There! :stuck_out_tongue: Also, I do not watch commercials but the dang things do come on and I can here 'em. I don’t always hit the mute button. I reserve that for especially egregious and/or gross commercials.

Feel better Nettie and DH!

MOOOOOOM speakin’ of milkshakes, there’s a facebook page about Ye Olde Hometowne. One rememberance is of the old dairy on South Main Street that made the best homemade ice cream and milkshakes ever. I’ve never had another milkshake as good as those I remember as a wee cub. I want that kind of milkshake. Alas, I fear that shall never happen again.

ETA: The only thing I miss about UGA is The Creamery. Fantastic ice cream, milkshakes and all kinds of ice creamy treats.
