It's a LONE holiday

My Asian wife bought some cute little Xmas trees , each atop a wrapped present. On each box is a single letter. She has been decorating the living room and asked me, “What does L,O, N, E mean?”

Oh. That’s so cute. How did accept the explanation?

“Oh, OK. I don’t know French.”

I believe those gifts are for Leon.

mmm

Elon’s got enough stuff, I think.

Noel.

Every xmas my gf decorates. I always switch the little blocks around so they spell LEON instead of NOEL.

Those gifts are only on loan and must be returned after New Years.

When I was a child, the library had a book which I vaguely remember the title–I think it was something like “The Mysterious Disappearance of Leon (I Mean Noel).” It’s been decades since I read this book so I don’t remember what happened to Leon/Noel, but it was probably the first mystery that I ever read.

No, there was one. Also an N, an O, and an E.

I thought of the same book. It was one of my favorites as a child. It was written by Ellen Raskin, who also wrote the better known “The Westing Game” often mentioned on the SDMB.

I guess NOEL didn’t make the cut. They now read ELON.

Are you sure the gifts aren’t for Jay Leno?
