One of my kids gave me a CD – Aha Shake Heartbreak by the Kings of Leon. It came directly from Amazon, where my Wish List leans toward Rodney Crowell and Robert Cray.
I listened to it. I tried to like it. I can’t understand the lyrics. The lead singer sounds like Eddie Murphy doing Buh-wheat. I like the music, but the singer won’t shut up and let me hear it.
I’m wondering if Amazon goofed, or if this is something my son thought I’d like, or if it’s something he likes and he wants to share.
Whatever the reason for the choice, there will be profuse thanks, and I’ll keep listening. Maybe it’ll grow on me.
Good point. Some folks open gifts on Christmas Eve though. And some Dopers are sitting at home, bored, and hitting refresh every 120 seconds looking for new posts.
When I was growing up, we would always open one gift on Christmas Eve. But nowadays, the wife and I keep it simple. If I opened my gift on Christmas Eve, I’d have nothing left for Christmas Day.
Similar thing happened with my daughter when she was about 9 or 10. Only it was a book. I asked her about it. It was one of those early-teen horror stories that were popular back then, and she wanted me to tell what I thought about the story.
I read it, didn’t really care for it, but we had some really good talk about it. She thought it was okay.
Damn, I wish I could remember that book series.
How old is your boy?
Peace,

6 CD, 84 songs … phenomenal. Has a facsimile of the original documentation and an additional book with even more info. I have wanted it for a while, and we just decided to get it=)
I originally heard about the Folkways albums from a series of podcasts that someone hooked me up with. If you have any interest at all in musical history, Moses Asch is definitely worth listening to.
