It's a matter of taste in the MMP

First wave of storm has passed. Second will show up in an hour or 2. Tomorrow may be rainy all day, so it’s a good thing that FCD mowed today. Otis has been in and out since the rain has subsided. We humans are diligently holding down our recliners.

It’s a chill evening.

You did say she’s spayed, correct? As adorable as puppies are, not sure she needs any little souvenirs of that adventure.

Yeah, she doesn’t have the bits to make puppies.

The second wave wasn’t nearly as much fun and we are back to a Flood Watch now but it is still raining off and on and is expected to continue for the rest of the night.

Hub’s fancy-pants weather station just stopped displaying the outside temp and humidity which is very not acceptable so instead of hoping for an excuse to fire up the generator, he is out there with a flashlight. If I was a good wife, I’d go out and hold an umbrella over him but it hasn’t happened yet and he’s been out there for over five minutes. You be the judge.

I’m sure she’s been chipped, have you considered putting an airtag on her? Just in case she does this again? If you are a droid guy, there are droid comparable tags as well, George wore one while we were moving and it worked OK.

We share disapproving glances with each other first!

I think that Harry might be telling tall tales about the sibling feuds. Both of his brothers were pallbearers at his wife’s funeral and he made sure to tell the young men on the corners to keep the casket low enough for both brothers to be able to reach the handles.

Plus, the across the street son came over with a post-dated check for 500 bucks and a receipt for me to sign saying that it was payment for the land deal to close and that I wouldn’t cash it until the new dastardly owner had all of the closing paperwork in hand. I looked at that, looked back at the son (who is my age) and started laughing. He laughed with me and then hubs got into the act and we all ended up with water in our eyes.

Son also told me that his dad’s plan was to have the trailer hauled off and give the land back to the forest like “Uncle Hank” was going to do, but if I was really upset about not getting it, things could change.

Did you know that lobster is the scavenger of the sea? If you get an older lobster, it might have eaten a couple of pirates for extra flavor!

I also do not like scallops, fish shouldn’t be chewy. Not a fan of oysters or tilapia because the texture is ick.

We used to eat fresh beets when I was a kid but I haven’t had them in years. I wonder how they would taste to my old taste buds.

The son told me that they would be pouring on Wednesday which is kinda disappointing. I’ll be in Charleston during most of it and won’t be able to watch. I’ll try to report on the results when I post here.

I don’t know but would like to learn, pls share the name. I like pretty plants.

Well the rains have come and gone and then returned for an encore and while it’s quiet again the weather map shows another storm moving in so more wet stuff will be falling. Have consumed sufficient calories for the day and am in sloth mode for the balance of the evening. Down to 73F due to the rain front, but probably will get warmer as the week proceeds.

As far as I know, never have. Have eaten in Greece before, but pretty bland stuff, not the items you expect to eat in Greece.

Cat Glove, plumbing is never cheap…and boy howdy, do I know it!

FCM, enjoy your history lessons.

Coppertone, hey, bonus drink! Every little but helps.

JtC, quite a neighbor (Harry) and his family you’ve seem to have been attached to, if not by the blood, at least by the friendship.

And there is rain falling again, but no P47’s or P38’s ( P47 was a WWII fighter known as the Thunderbolt and the P38 was another known as the Lightning, so no Thunderbolts and Lightning…

And onward into the night. Think I may pay tomorrow’s calories forward and have an Envy apple for a late-night snack. Have a good one all.

We had a delightful couple of hours in Canada this morning finding GF fish and chips and vegan gelato. It was pleasantly warm and the breeze was refreshing. Found a labyrinth to walk in a park, and watched serious little Canadian kids eat poutine. Eight bald eagles. No rain. No hassle at the border. Now home, where it’s rather warmer.

May I suggest Christopher Moore? The Stupidest Angel is my favorite, but I’m a fan of delusional soft porn stars.

I napped. I’m having an Old Fashioned with cheeseburger, fries, and corn on the cob.

I saw a Titan’s Plumbing van today, and I was irked, because the graphic on the van was clearly a Classical Period hoplite. But under $1k for a plumber is good.

“very, very frightening me” - Queen and The Luftwaffe

Weird foreign exchange. We get the geese, they get eagles.

I’ve adopted the Indiana Fever as the WNBA team that I follow and root for. Just beat the Phoenix Mercury 86-77. So, I’ll catch up on the MMP now then hit the hay.

Thanks shoe. I’ve made note of your measuring tip.

red you’re welcome; my pleasure, particularly after all the reminders I receive in the MMP.

this is an acronym that I don’t know.

lily sounds like a relaxing outing.

Night all; off to dreamland.

I love Christopher Moore. Lamb is one of my favorite books.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 73 degrees Ferret Height(22.778 Centipedes). Today is Prime Day, where we celebrate Optimus Prime dying for us(and rising again).

Pointy Stick Wielding Sri Lankan Spiders

Morning. There’s currently a few clouds around, but today is forecast to be be sunny and  28C

Yeah, I know, I know, but it’s the highest forecast temperature since I moved here I think.

Feeling bed for the folks in the hot bit of England- and the friend who I went out for drinkies with at the weekend, who is in a conference in Northern France, where today’s forecast is 43C and they sent out a message in advance saying there is no aircon in the venue…

We do have a climate control system at work, a fancy new ‘AI controlled one’, which is tech talk for ‘has a mind of its own’; it does what it wants and there’s apparently no way to stop it. Some offices are consistently freezing, some are roasting. Ours is slightly chilly for most of the inhabitants, but typically fine for me, as I prefer it a bit colder.

:shortcake: Happy Doperversary, Lucky! :shortcake:

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 22c/72f with a predicted high of 31c/88f and sunny. Weather app says “This is the perfect fucking day for a renaissance faire, because OMG, fucking nerd boobs!” Huh?

They’ll be fine, the bars have aircon  I’d be more concerned that Miami isn’t ready for the Tartan Army!

Yes and no - she financed study through student loans and rumour has it she wants to do a master’s at our uni too. Her qualification won’t allow for that, so we’re expecting her to make an appeal (similar to her extenuating circumstances request) that she be awarded a First, which would allow her to stay here.

Sticky Buns I’m glad you made it home again, and I really hope all those costs are covered by your insurance. As for the paint colour, I’m opting for purple or burgundy

Eeek! I hope you manage to keep your toes dry!

Most of them knew they wouldn’t graduate because they haven’t got enough credits, quite a few had extensions on their dissertations so knew it wasn’t being handed in until August. The little cherubs will graduate in December instead.

Yesterday was busy, I had lots of little jobs to do and one big needs-much-concentration job so that was the perfect thing to do on a working at home day. I logged out later than I should have done, ended up tidying out a drawer in my search for some shorts for the gym (found 'em!), then went to a spin class that was really hot despite the studio aircon being on. Came home with the intention of flopping on the sofa until dinner arrived but instead I fed the cats, emptied the litter trays, collected up the recycling, emptied the recycling box into the bin, and hauled the biiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection.

I have put enough clothes on to venture outside to fetch the empty biiiiig bin back in and put it where it lives. Came into the house and immediately closed all the curtains to keep the nasty heat out. You’ll be pleased to hear that it has not yet been declared too hot to drink tea!

Happy Tuesday! Today I’ll be going for, as MusicMan would put it, a singing Mammogram. Then later in the afternoon I’ll be doing a follow up with the Rheumatologist where she’ll likely tell me that my abnormal numbers are normal for a certain percent of the population and that I should apparently just suck it up and deal with it. I should especially just deal with being cold and shivering all the time even when it’s summer and I’m wearing a hoodie and covered with a blanket.

I have to tell you all that I’m worried about my brain again. I’ve been doing strange things again. Some are inconsequential like when asked my zip code, I gave the absolutely incorrect one without hesitation before I realized what was coming out of my mouth. Then I was asking if my work bestie could help me with a project this summer and I completely made up the wrong last name for her. The worst of it lately is that I was supposed to start my summer program yesterday and I didn’t because I thought that it started today. I’ve had this brain problem before and so far no one has figured out what the hell is going on. As a child of the Alzheimer’s stricken for several generations, I am concerned.

Thanks for the song, swampy!

Unfortunately the repairs are not covered by our insurance. The only thing that might be covered is the hotel room but even then we’ve got a $1000 deductible and the room was $1200.

Oh, and MetalMouse, our house is brick as well, but given it’s age, it is starting to crumble in spots, so painting it will be partly as an effort to preserve/restore it. There are many painted brick houses of the same age around these parts. The color will be a dark purple with a white or black trim. I’m not sure about that yet. The painter should be coming around to start soon. He’s a very nice guy and I believe he’s looking forward to working on our house as much as we’re looking forward to having him do it.

Here’s the new color in the foyer.

I had a before and after, but, wait, just found it…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and partly cloudy although there could be rain early afternoon. Or not. TWPTB are all willy-nilly today. I need to accomplish mowage soonest as the yahd is such that JtC hubs would be twitchin’ if’n he saw it. However, it’s way too wet right now as it rained durin’ the night. Tomorrow is supposed to be dry all day, so maybe then. I’m goin’ to make chikin sallit today due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’. It will also be sup this evenin’ along with some cheesey garlic bread. I am not very inspired to cook anything else.

VanGo hopefully Ms. Peach really has learned it’s good to be around the hooman who is the source of food, water, and skritches.

JtC you’ve got more things on your mind than a fancy pants weather station. I heartily approve of disappointin’ glances. It appears that Harry and the entire family has accepted you as one of them. Pirate Flavored Lobster would be a great name for a death metal band!

Coppertone score on the free drink!

MetalMouse P47s and P38s very, very frightening!

Lily glad y’all had a good time in Canada. I walk the labyrinth at the church from time to time. I find it so peaceful.

Cat_Glove PSWSLNS = Pointy Stick Weildin’ Sri Lankan Ninja Spiders. They are part of the Mumper arsenal. I left the N out when I posted earlier. I hope I haven’t riled 'em up. :worried:

Nuts that is way warmer than folks your way are used to, so take care.

BooFae if you ever declare it too hot to drink tea, some of us will have to come over there with buckets of ice and fans to cool you down!

Sticky_Buns I share your concern re Alzheimer’s as it is rampant in my family, especially on my father’s side. So far, so good for me, but the spectre of it is there. Love the new color!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Is this an allusion to Singing Telegrams? I get my squishin’ on Thursday - I’d forgotten about it, but my auxiliary brain (Outlook) reminded me.

doggio - I don’t think you’ve ever addressed this (if so, just humor me, please.) Do the numbers and colors of your various slides designate location or what’s handled there or are they just random to make things sound all cool and technical?

Once again, the three weather sites I consult cannot agree. One generically mentions rain with t-boomers around 5. One predicts pretty much all day rain starting any time now and running till suppertime, then no more. One says rain from noon to 5-ish. Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen! Regardless, I’m running to Aldi this morning. And if the rain does hold off, I may pull up more crabgrass for a while.

I have a couple of shower curtains from the boat to hem - I should do that. And I need to make a window curtain for the head at the v-berth since the one that was in there was discolored, nasty plastic. I need to find a bit of white fabric - maybe an old sheet or pillowcase? It doesn’t need to be fancy - just white.

So, as you can see, an amazing day ahead for me. Happy Tuesday!!

Up early today. 62F and sunny, but I think a bit of rain is on the way.

Breakfast will be waffles and sausage, which we haven’t had in quite some time.

No plans for the day, although I may do laundry this afternoon. The wife is making noises about an upcoming outing to a Chinese buffet restaurant. The Midwest loves its buffets. I did too, back when I was poor and had a car full of hungry kids. But I can afford NOT to go to them now, and the idea of that many people dipping into a common food trough is pretty unappealing.

that looks lovely.

today is an icky rainy day. i’m sure it will pour when i have to zip over to the dr. appt..

koritza has taken to drinking from the fish tank. i have cling wrapped the top. i’ll have to see if i can get a lid. it might be difficult due to the filter. i did a bit of a water change last night and the fish flitted all about.

Good morning.

It’s 57F and sunny at the moment. The forecast calls for mostly to partly sunny skies, with a daytime high of 90F.

Sticky, I’m glad you’re back home, and I’m sorry the insurance didn’t cover any of the costs. I hope medical professionals finally figure out what’s going on with your brain.

I didn’t do much of anything other than laundry, the usual kitchen tidying, and plant-watering, which is exactly what I said I’d do.

Mr. Taters wants to go to a Disclosure Day matinee. I gotta say, I’m not overly thrilled. I don’t really want to go, but he’s excited about this movie, despite the many negative reviews. I dislike going to movies; too much phone activity, noise, and paper crinkling. Plus, movies are stupidly expensive for a “meh” experience.

I guess that’s about all that will be going on. I’ll have to shower soon, as most matinees for this movie are around 12:30 this afternoon. I’ll water everything again today, first.

I’ll need to mow the lawn tomorrow, because rain is supposed to move in on Friday.

Alright, it’s time to get on with the day. Please take care of yourselves.

Nice paint color choice, sticky. I hope they get your brain figured out.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, I’ll get sheveled before heading to Sis’ and the podiatrist. A side quest to the Art Asylum may also happen.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
