Omigawd, it was! The ciabatta bread made the sandwich! I’m having a Fabulous Food Day today, I guess. This morning’s cup of coffee was, for some reason, transcendent. I make it exactly the same (or think I do) every single day, but some days it just comes out exactly right. Today was that day!
Your memories of eating sunflower seeds right off the flower and tomatoes in Poland gives me big grins to think of. It’s so perfectly you, shoe!
I was fortunate to work from home for my first indoor dog’s entire life, but if I’d worked in town, I’d have had to do the same thing.
Because backs, I trained both my dachshunds to wait to be lifted on and off the sofa. I could leave Lewis (first dachsie) on the sofa for the entire time I was away, and he would stay in his designated area. Ollie? He’d be off and tearing things apart as soon as he realized I couldn’t catch him at it. Meaning about two minutes. I’m glad you got some Nelson snuggle time!
Go, you, Mollie!
metal mouse, to me, too. I’m sorry you’re inheriting my 90s for the rest of the week. Keep frosty beverages handy!
Only thing I’ve ever hit whilst driving was another car. As a passenger, though… .
In the middle of seventh grade I moved from a smallish town (4500 pop) to a city of around 70k. Didn’t like big-city life, so in ninth grade I moved back home to live with my sister and her husband. Woke up late one morning and walked out the door just in time to see the school bus turning around at the corner (about a quarter-mile from the house) and leaving without me. I was quite ready to go back to bed, but my brother-in-law insisted I go to school, so we got in the truck and headed out. We were zooming down a nice country road, and WHAM! A young buck had picked a bad time to cross the road. BIL turned around and drove slowly back until he spotted it lying in the ditch, picked it up and put it in the back of the truck, and then continued the drive to school. By the time I got home from school he had the deer hanging in the barn. One headlamp on the truck was destroyed, and the little divot in the windscreen where a flying pebble had chipped the glass was turned into a crack from one side clear to the other, but we got some really tasty meals out of the deer.
Forecast for today was 84 ferrets, but we only got 77. (No, I don’t feel deprived.) Down to 65 now, heading for a predicted low of 60; supposed to have 77 again tomorrow. And then rain from tomorrow night through Saturday night. Not planning on leaving the house again until Monday, though.
Actually, threading a collar a size or two too big through the hole in the middle works better. Don’t ask how I know that.
While not as long as a dachsie, Nelson does get some length from his corgi grandparent. I do try to limit his jumping up on things (his corgi bum means he’s bottom heavy, so jumping up and forward doesn’t work so well) and lift him most of the time, especially now that he’s getting getting older.
Up from naptime. Having a martini and teryaki chicken stirfry for dinner. Watching Star Trek: Jeopardy on YouTube. There’s a Jeffery Combs category, and after Googling, somehow he manged to not be on any Stargate episode.
Yay {{{{JtC}}}}
Roomie didn’t have too many issues. But when you start at a level 7, any improvement is great.
I live within sight of downtown, yet I’m more likely to hit a deer than most of y’all.
Just popping in again. Little Max’s person is very ill. I spent all day there and left, with some misgivings, only because she insisted and was going to bed. She’s sure it’s a kidney stone, as she’s had them before, but this one hurts even more and seems to be stuck now. She refuses to go to the ER. She said the last time she went (also for kidney stones), she had to wait all day, and it still cost thousands of dollars she’s still paying off. She has a Medigap plan, so it should have been covered 100%.
My nephew still hasn’t moved out of the hotel.
I’m praying for our beloved Jane and hoping we hear soon.
It’s a neurostimulator implant tfor lower back pain when nothing else works. Here’s an article on it. I had zero confidence this would work, but it did, thank heavens. Are you having back issues?
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 22c/71f with a predicted high of 33c/91f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “This weather ain’t nothing to shake a fucking stick at. Honestly though, you shouldn’t fucking shake sticks.” 91 ferrets? I am wilting already and it’s only 8am.
I’m so pleased it went well and you’re back home to be cared for by Dr Jolene and Nurse George
You go, girl!
It was scorchio yesterday and promises to be even more scorchio today! I’m totally not made for heat, that’s for sure. It took me 2hrs to get home yesterday, when I got in, I went in the shower and my clothes went straight in the laundry bin. I think today will be the same routine. I was up even earlier than yesterday so I was in the office by 7.30am and it was already 27c in here. Luckily 'im indoors will be at home so he can keep an eye on the cats and ensure windows are open or closed as appropriate.
I had some sad news this morning too, our catsitter is moving out of the area so although she is able to look after our mogsters for the July bookings we’ve already made, she isn’t able to do any more after that. I’m not sure if that means our other Kitty Angel will still be working in the area or not
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 (BRRR! For here this time of year.), becomin’ cloudy this mornin’, with rain this afternoon. A possible good day to stay inside and dry. I foresee much RDOS sloth. Sup will be grilled poke chops, succotash, a broccoli/cheese rice thing from a box (don’t judge!) and rolls. Borin’ but it’ll feed.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,
Oh, I can identify with that, sorta. The doggie daycare/kennel where we take Otis is suddenly so popular, she has to turn away customers and we can’t count on last-minute needs. I did manage to book July 18 and we’re hoping Jan 23-Feb 15 won’t be impossible. It’s not just that her price is amazing - it’s that Otis lurves it there. Plus she does grooming and she’s got a mini-farm and a hound dog who’s up to rasslin’ with Otis. Anyway, good luck finding another you can trust.
Woke to 62 Ferrets on the way to high 80s. After I finish my caffeine and morning read, I’m going to re-don yesterday’s clothes and pull weeds for maybe an hour before I need to get cleaned up for my tit-squishin’. No rain hereabouts till late tomorrow and all day Sat, if the forecast is accurate. No plans for once I get home, but I’m sure something will catch my attention. For the moment, I’m enjoying the cool with WETA classical streaming some symphonic background music.
Morning all. Bladder Alert came at 5:30am and I couldn’t persuade my body to go back to sleep so up and at 'em early today. Not much planned, need to bring the bin in once trash is picked up and make up the Great July Shopping List for tomorrow, but outside of that and watching the World Cup, not much else planned. Temperature is 66F and dur to get to 88F, so it may actually be cooler here that boo fae’s location, which I bet doesn’t happen too often in the summer.
Shoe, the conversation between you and Monkey gave me a smile for the morning, thank you for that.
wet one,
The Circle of Life…
nellie, Is there any family member to Little Max’s person you can reach? Sounds like someone needs to talk to her (and the Medigap folks) and get things taken care of. And nephew just needs to be cut off, no ifs, and, or buts.
boo fae, hope you can stay cool. And with your contacts in the area, hopefully you can find another catsitter soon.
FCM, hope the squishing ain’t too bad.
And the Big Bowl of Cheerios is being assimilated in my stomach, so onward into the day. Have a good one all.
I did dust the ceiling fan yesterday. The Parkinson’s disease made it a tricky task indeed. Standing in the middle of the room while looking up and waving a pole around is dodgy enough with balance issues, but add into that the fact that it was freewheeling, and it wouldn’t stay put. (Yes, of course I turned it off first.)
We’re going to Goshen today to see my neurologist. I have some anxiety about that, and I didn’t sleep well. I need to get moving. I’ll get back to you later.
