It's a matter of taste in the MMP

Good morning.

It’s 54F and mostly clear outside, but the clouds are moving in. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy to cloudy skies, with a chance of showers and a daytime high of 69°F. Rain is arriving this evening. I’m thankful for the lower temps; it reached 90°F yesterday, and you could definitely feel the humidity.

JtC, I’m glad the surgery went well and that you’re home. I hope the pain levels are being kept in check today.

Nellie, I agree that the nephew needs to learn some hard lessons. But, I can fully understand his mother not wanting him to suffer. What a horrible Catch-22. I hope Max’s person is doing better today.

When I lived in Germany and visited my Oma, I would get to eat sunflower seeds straight from the sunflower head. I had a little friend who lived right outside the town walls, and I would visit her whenever I was in town. Back in those days, no one saw anything odd about a little five-year-old wandering around town, and outside the town walls up to the hills. Such splendid memories! My Oma’s town was quite small back then, but very, very, very old. It’s now surrounded by a Nature Park because of a river that runs through it.

I got the lawn mowed and weed-whacked and all the plants watered before 10:00 a.m. yesterday. I didn’t do much after that, but that’s okay.

I may go to the nursery today, just to get out and about. But, once again, I don’t really have any plans. Also, how the hell can it be Thursday already?! I swear it was just Monday yesterday.

Please take care of yourselves.

That sounds interesting. Does one cook the chicken in the martini, or pour the martini over the chicken after it’s cooked? If the latter, does it get ignited, like bananas Foster?

67 out of 80 at 0900. Only supposed to go up to 77 in the rain the next two days, but then Saturday it starts crawling up through the 80s. Bleah.

Good morning, folks. Mrs Magill is flying up to her family reunion this afternoon, so she slept in while I walked. I didn’t take Chloé out, because she would have complained loudly that Primary Human wasn’t going with us, thus negating the whole “sleeping in” thing. I also started a little bit later than usual, so I had missed the colors of the sunrise. No pictures, sorry.

I’ve been thinking lately. It seems that a lot of folks like me (at least the more vocal ones) hate the gentiles they were born with. In the Discord Dysphoria channel, there is one person who goes on about how even using the bathroom is distressing for her. This is not something I can relate to. Previously, I had always felt neutral about my body and its associated parts. After I started practicing Yoga, which teaches gratitude, I’ve become grateful for my body. It’s gotten me this far. Do I wish it were different? Well, yeah - I wish it matched my spirit. I wish it were mapped out to the body in my head, but if that had been the body I had been born with, I wouldn’t have been able to be with Mrs Magill. I wouldn’t have had three great kids who are turning into three great adults. What does the future hold for this body? I don’t know. I’m sure there will be changes, though.

That was Deep Thoughts by Mollie Magill.

After Spike and Squeaky clipped a deer on the way to school a couple of years ago, the lady at the auto shop confessed they’re in league with the deer, because that’s where most of their business comes from in the fall.

doggio and BooFae Thank you :face_holding_back_tears:

nellie - Your device sounds interesting. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it would help herniated discs. Looks like it’s still gonna be core exercises and epidurals for me. Also, I agree with Metal Mouse, it sounds like your sister has crossed the line to enabling, rather than helping. Cutting off can be hard, and Nephew will try to guilt trip her, but she’s no longer helping him.

Nope. It’s an epidemic. My gin keeps disappearing, too!

Well, where’s the challenge in that? - Seriously, be careful. Unless you have severe allergies, dusting the ceiling fan is not worth hurting yourself. Good luck with the neurologist.

Job interview. Wasnt hired during so its a bust.
Having a ham and cheese sandwich for brunch.
Trying to lose a few lbs. Im 148, pretty much more than I weighed at 9 months pregnant.
Used to be 115.
I aim for 142.

Today’s weeding is done and I’m showered and clad for going out and about. Apparently while weeding and moving some mulch around I covered the entrance to a bee den. Dammit. By the time I quit, there were 7 or 8 bees buzzing around. I hope they can fix it.

Some of my juniper are looking sad - maybe they need fertilizing? Must research. Meanwhile, gotta leave in half an hour or so.

I hope everything goes well at the doc. And treat yourself to a trip to Olympia Candy as a reward.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The biggest thing on slate for the day is a couple loads of laundry. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Sounds like he needs some Emotional Support Honey Badgers to get him in gear.

Well, gosh(en) almighty! Hope things go smoothly.

This gave me a smile.

:musical_note: The cirrrrcle of … the MMP. :musical_notes:

I’m sorry, I know this is an innocent typo, but that’s hilarious to my dark sense of humor.

This is an amazing post.

I’m glad y’all (you AND Mollie, the Missus, the kids) are processing this in such a healthy and productive way. Gives me hope for humanity.

I like her style.

Wasn’t me, I can’t stand the stuff. One of very few boozes where I’m like, “Nah, I’ll put up with being sober.”

It’s only 63F at 1045, and the humiditty is fairly low. That will all change in coming days and next week will be very uncomfortable.

Pancakes with macerated strawberries this morning. A touch of maple syrup to go with them. Nom.

Housekeeping comes today, and I’ve got to do the towels and sheets laundering this PM. I’ve got to have the housekeeper give the kitchen floor a good wash. I was trying to open a can of frozen (thawed) limeade for the wife last night and it was giving me trouble until all of a sudden the lid popped off and the stuff went everywhere. Mopped it up as best I could with paper towels and 409, but it’s still sticky in there.

I got the offending “Ice Out!” scraped off the window. Went down to talk to my “source” on the staff. She said that a resident had complained about it, as had some passer-by. One problem about living in a place like this is that some people can’t just mind their own fucking business like the rest of us do.

You are so diplomatic!

Thanks evreyone for all of the kind wishes, I do appreciate them. I am doing better than expected and my pain levels are very low. The block has worn off and I have my thumb back.

I have realized that my recliner’s lever is on the right side and Hub’s recliner is way too big even with pillows propping me up. The bidet controls are on the right. My stoopid pain pills are in a fuking child proof bottle.

When George woke up this morning, he had forgotten that I didn’t always wear this stoopid sling, and then Hubs unstrapped me so I could wash up, get dressed and do my first round of gentle exercises. George freaked out. Thank goodness the catnip is blooming, I’m hoping that keeping him constantly stoned will help.

And…where are the bees? Blooming catnip should be covered with bees and other pollinators. My cucumbers aren’t setting fruit either. The cherry tomatoes are doing great, but nothing can stop them.

Elbow is getting achy, more later.

And have done nothing of consequence since the morning post, shopping list is done but need to collect bin. Getting ready to go out for awhile then watch World Cup, so thought I would check in. Up to 80F now so the HVAC is getting some work.

FCM, hope Otis can be boarded when needed. And looked at my weather report for the next 10 days, highs in the 90’s and little to no rain, so probably will have to water the lawn sometime next week. And beware the Revenge of the Bees!

Knots, hope the neurology visit goes positively.

Taters, yeah, days move along rather faster than expected. And never have eaten Sunflower seeds, or any seeds that I can recall, just never interested in trying them.

Mollie, kinda wondered about that topic you discussed, but of course was much to proper to bring it up… Interesting thoughts.

Coppertone, good, set a goal you can reach, then when you reach it you can go down to say, 135 and so forth.

Cookie, been there (but with a pickle jar), messed up floor with that.

JtC, there is (or so I have heard) a crisis about the bee population, hopefully they are just busy elsewhere and will find your stash shortly. Take care and don’t overdo.

And time to don the t-shirt and shorts and go forth to sweat so I can enjoy some mid-day cheese-dogs without too much guilt.

jtc, gg is a hoot.

how is jolene doing with this?

we have a game today in philly. the temp is 82f right now, should be 86-87f at game time. dew point is 62 and humidity is 49, with a wind of 6mph, so not too bad out. so far i have seen a group of 12+ motorcycle police come in. i reckon they will be deployed to the hotels for team motorcade. there is a plane with a banner circling the stadium. and a bigish fire in the south west suburbs.

last night there was much complaining about the music from the fan fest. it was window shaking loud.

the fire is at a refinery in marcus hook delaware county. we can see 16-17 miles plus from the office window. huh. it is a rather clear day.

You’re so casual about the second part.

The bumblebees are all at my house, sorry. I have gazillions of them at the moment. I hope your local ones show up soon, as I doubt I can post you some.

Attempted to WFH today, as I’m down to the writing and pacing around and swearing a lot phase. Besides, I have a fridge of drinks and plenty of snacks here. It’s been warm all day, though the temperature has just started dropping- there was fog forecast, so maybe it’s that starting to roll in. We have thunder n lightning forecast for the middle of the night as well, just too much weather today.

The parcel finally got delivered today, on the 3rd try, which was the other reason I arranged to be home. They didn’t need a signature or anything, so I have no idea why they didn’t just leave it before. Odd.

Anyway, I should go feed and play with the rats shortly, because I’m off out for dinner after; two of my former PhD student friends graduated today, and they’ve invited me to join 'em for the celebratory dinner at an Indian restaurant afterwards. The ratties, sadly, aren’t invited. Not sure how good they are with spicy food anyway.

I dont want to be less than 140! Im 5’10".

I’m sorry to be so slow responding, I just saw this. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) might take the edge off the itching-cold compresses might help too. If you do the Benadryl in it’s pill form be aware it might make you sleepy or ‘foggy’-it often has a much bigger effect on people our age, especially when layered in with pain meds (depending on what the pain med is of course). Be careful standing and certainly don’t use power tools or drive.

There are local forms of Benadryl you can try to avoid those potential complications. There is a cream in a tube and my favorite for my itchy grandkids, a spray, so you don’t even have to touch the itchy places. You can get both at a pharmacy-Walmart even has them in their store brand.

We should @ our nellie-she is by far our leading expert on itches. Here goes-@nelliebly.

The title reminds me of the great song A Matter of Trust by Billy Joel. Hes awesome.
I have interview next week at a Waffle House. Never been to one. Do I have to know how to fight?
:waffle:

Been squished, tho I was running late. They want you to show up 15 minutes ahead - I got there maybe 30 seconds early… But I was seen about 15 minutes later, so no big. I had my tablet to entertain me, and I was listening to HGTV in the waiting room.

I miss the old HGTV where you actually could learn to do stuff around the house. I hate the current “reality” show format, so I quit watching it.

Anyway, once squishage was done, FCD and I went to Tequila Grill - the Mexican restaurant in Charlotte Hall. We discovered/rediscovered while there that they do breakfast. So we’ll be doing that some time soon. Now I’m home making ice and about to go repair the 2 hoses that Otis chewed up - I bought 2 new ends the other day. FCD has gone to the boat to check out the autopilot. When he gets back, or maybe before, I need to run to Food Lion for a few things. Wish I’d thought to go after leaving the hospital, dammit.

And I may or may not futz in the yard. My motivation is seriously lacking.

:people_hugging: So glad to hear that all went well. Shocked that it was outpatient. Hubs had rotator cuff surgery and also another time, bicep surgery, and both times he was admitted at least overnight; although this was many years ago. Totally understand the crankiness. The next 6 weeks might seem to drag, I’m hoping the adage ‘the older we get, the faster time seems to go’ might balance that out so you’re feeling better in no time.

does your mower not have a grass catcher on it?

My Mom also grew EXCELLENT tomatoes. I believe the reason why was that she used cow manure from the big aged pile behind the barn on the farm.

MetalMouse are you not swimming anymore?

BBBoo your granddaughter goes commando or the cat?

one of the numerous things I learned about from the MMP was Milo’s! We, Hubs and I, absolutely love it. Our favorite is the Sweet Tea & Lemonade but for some unknown reason, Kroger hasn’t had it in stock this year. So, we’ve been buying the Famous Sweet Tea then adding some lemonade to it. IMS, I think it was flyboy who first extolled it on the MMP and a few others joined in praising it.

Well, when I logged on there were 61 unread posts. I’m now at 27 unread posts as I’m up to 150. Really need to do some chores so I’ll at you later. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve been watching Sean the Sheepman on FB. It calms my brain whenever the idiots in WDC bubble into the fore. The dogs always make me smile.
