It's A Shiny New MMP!

Poured Drain-o down the bathroom sink, and did myriad little tidying up. Rat buyer was early AND wanted a few more than I’d thought, so I have an unexpectedly early free evening & a few smackeroos in my wallet, plus the smug self-satisfaction of having cleaned a lot of shit up.

You know what? Imma treat myself to a little sushi from the joint up the street. Six bucks with tip, healthy, and I’ve earned a nice bit of deliciousness.

Then, tee-vee time. I’m watching “Weeds” (don’t laugh! It’s escapism. Super unrealistic.) I hafta forward through the sad bits about her missing her dead husband - eight damn years and that shit still hits way too close to home - but the rest is enjoyable bubble gum for the mind.

Napped, having an Old Fashioned. Got Paprika Chicken with rice and green beans and onions cooking.

I was thinking pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Plus the tackleball.

Well, I’ll never kink shame. :stuck_out_tongue:

Evening (well, early evening) all. Arm is now aching as they say is common with the shingles vaccine, but nothing else, so I’ll manage with the ache (it’s the same side with the shoulder ache, so all the aches are on the same side). Need to fix some Cheeseburgers shortly for dinner and start dirtying up all the dishes I just put away.

Tomorrow I might go out and rake up the leaves that have accumulated at my curb. The lawn is not heavily covered and can be taken care of when I do the Last Mowage of the Year (I hope). But tonight is internettin’ and readin’ time.

All y’all have a good night now.

Ok, on this recommendation I have added “Weeds” to my Netflix queue. Thank you.

Good to know
That no matter what I do
I’ll be safe with you.

There. Poetry for ya. And people say I’m not cultured and college was wasted on me. Harumph!

Today’s forecast was for partly sunny skies with a 30% chance of rain and a high of 48. They got one right. We’ve gone from sprinkles to you-could-drown-crossing-the-street, but at no time has it stopped raining, let alone allowed the sun to say hello. Party at National Weather Service!

It was sprinkling when I walked to the store. I came out to a deluge.
People here pride themselves on not using umbrellas. I notice very few of them walk much, however. Even with the bumbershoot, I got soaked to the skin. Why bother wearing clothes? Yeah, yeah, yeah, arrest record, blah, blah, blah.

I spent a couple of hours catching up via phone with an old friend. Now I feel loved. I learned long ago that compliments say a lot more about the person giving them than the person receiving them*, and that’s OK by me, as I’m grateful to have such a kind friend.

*Unless I’m giving them, in which case, reverse that.

Boo, nice job on the grammar lesson (sayeth the former English teacher)!

Shoe, are you aware you, Shoe, and Boo rhyme? Maybe she’s your iambic pantamother. That sounds like a good deal on the sushi.

MetalMouse, I hope the aching arm feels better. The shingles immunity will be worth it.

wheelie, please don’t go. The decision has indeed been made for you. Really, this Thanksgiving everyone who can possibly stay home should.

Thel, so glad you’re feeling better today!

FCM, glad the bulb arrived in one piece. That’s a lot of packaging! At least the bulb got there OK.

Maybe we can wild and crazy Mumper back and forth all the lifelong day. That would be fun and be a loneliness balm.

Then again, I may be desperate enough by then to PM one of you to please call me so I can hear human voices. Where is a Mumper party line when we really need it?

Glad your power is back up Johnny.

I actually got a night’s sleep without waking myself up coughing last night. I finished off the cold meds over the weekend, but still have a bit of a cough. Last night, I squeezed a small lemon wedge into a shot glass (one that I got from Moooooom sent one year in the shot glass exchange) and poured some Bullitt rye in to finish filling it. Did the trick.

I worked an hour over this afternoon and will likely do so for the rest of the month. I drifted off reading the MMP, so I read most, retained some.

rosie’sig and stay safe and healthy y’all!

You’ll be relieved to hear that Mrs. Wheelz and I are completely on the same page regarding not going to BIL and SIL’s for Thanksgiving - even if they test negative.

You’re absolutely right! I’m relieved and happy. There, something more for me to be grateful about-the Wheelzes are gonna be safe on Turkey Day. Works great for me!

Probable that I’ll be irking that day. I predict deadness (why they bother to have us open that day is a mystery for the ages).

Some panic-buying in my area, but not as bad as March. The Costco Business I swung by had the usual hoarding suspects in stock, with quantity limits. I didn’t really need anything for my household (played squirrel over the last six months, gradually building stock when it was relatively easily had), but did pick up some disinfectant wipes for an irk friend.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort. it’s currently 33 degrees(Amurikin) outside.

Morning, mumpers! It’s a dull and gloomy 45F outside, weather app on the phone has a black cloud with a bit of sun peeking round it. So far, I have black clouds but no signs of sun. It’s not even 10am and I have the lights on already. It’s like the middle of winter!

Must be stormy out there, I have a thumpy head and thus breakfast was a cup of strong Yorkshire tea (mum wouldn’t have anything else in the house) and a couple of Anadin Extra for my poorly bonce. Only one meeting in the diary today, that’s in 15mins and it’s with one of my minions, then I am spending the rest of the day in spreadsheet hell with the boss, attempting to work out some complicated exam scheduling stuff.

Last night was busy, I was later than anticipated logging off work, added 2K words to the NaNo story, then opened the big box of stuff from Pets at Home and sorted out who was getting which bags of treats. Wrapping ensued, now I have done all of it, and I’m just waiting for one more box to arrive, then once lockdown is over I should be able to pick up the last few bits and pieces at a local store, and I’m done until 'im indoors puts stuff on his wishlist for me. I got him a funny mug ages ago, and sourced some A&W diet root beer for him so that’s all wrapped and ready.

shoe I am often the same with food when I’m home alone, there are times when I seriously couldn’t be bothered and just ate cereal all the time. I ended up batch cooking instead, and shoving loads of stuff in the freezer so I only cooked once a week and lived off the leftovers of various things until I ran out.

Thel glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, this is the place to come and be propped up again

Oh well…better go and get tidied up for my minion meeting!

And it’s 26° degrees in my back yard. That’s cold. Dammit. And I forgot to bring in my geranium - if it’s still alive, I’ll put it back where it lived last winter. It’s three years old! I’d hate to lose it now. Then again, it’s a plant…

Today, FCD has virtually nothing to do. The big project he’s been working on for nearly 2 years was killed yesterday. I think partly because of his work - his analysis showed the electronics would overheat below 20,000 feet in their worst-case scenario (which really was extreme) and TPTB decided enough was enough. Actually, they’ve been talking about canceling the whole thing for several months because of weight considerations. It was additional equipment to go on the E-2D, and with other modifications being done on other projects, there was no way the plane could handle all the extra stuff.

I know he’s glad to be done with it, but he’s also suddenly without work, apart from burning everything on to a CD and passing it to the gummint folks. On the other hand, he can start designing my remote control lawn mower, so there’s that.

Last night, I got an email from Princess cruise line showing their schedule for late next year into 2022. One cruise caught our eye. 34 days, going from LA to Buenos Aires - down the west coast of South America, cruising around Antarctica, then up the east coast to the Falklands and finally Buenos Aires. If we were to get a balcony, then include airfare and some side trips, we’re probably looking at $20K for the month. And it would mean Christmas and New Year’s Day at sea, but we’re seriously considering it. That’s part of what savings is for, right?

Meanwhile, my alarm just went off - gotta go fetch the toddler tornado.

Happy Thursday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 41 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 70 and N.O.S. for the day. Nuttin’ much on the agenda for the day. Last night I cleanded a buncha collard greens and got 'em in da freezer. I divided ‘em into two batches, one for Turkey Day next week and one for NYD feastin’. So today I foresee clillage, Netflix, nappage, chillage, Netflix, sup, chillage, Netflix, and beddy bye as the plan of the day. Works for me!

shoe Ima add Weeds to my Netflix queue on your recommendation. I keep eyein’ it but couldn’t make up my mind whether or not to try it, but if’n you say it’s good I’ll give it a go.

Wheelie I think y’all made the right decision.

MOOOOOOM that sounds like it could be an innerestin’ cruise. I say go for it.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

FWIW, we watched Weeds some time back, and I don’t think we could make it thru the 3rd season because we didn’t like where it started going. The first couple of seasons were fun, tho. YMMV

FCD was starting to have second thoughts about heading to FL, but I think we’re still going. I know he doesn’t expect his dad to live much longer, so he wants to see him, but the whole COVID and nephew thing is unnerving. If the kid was staying away, we’d be OK with it. We shall see…

Morning all. Clear and 48F heading for the mid-60’s today. Will dress appropriately here shortly and rake/bag leaves from the curb and that will be my major exercise for the day. Arm ache is pretty well gone and shoulder ache is much diminished, so things are pretty good.

Wheelie, think you are making the best choice. I going up to see Brother/SIL and their kids next week, I trust that they are doing the proper things, but I will be watching…

FCM, sounds like quite a cruise. I’m planning on Antarctica in 2023 (Make it to my 7th continent at the age of 70), will be interested how it goes if you take it. And bet FCD “unretires” once he gets done fussing with his new car. And we will require pictures, nay, movies of the remote control lawn mower in action…

boo fae, shoe, I usually write out my menu for the week, not much cooking in it, but at least I have some plan on what to eat. Today is BLT’s and Big Bowl O’Sallit, neither a great deal of work.

Nettie, no major buying here, store shelves are fully stocked, but I’ll keep my eye on things as I expect a winter rush.

nellie, I haven’t heard the word bumbershoot in ages…thank you for re-introducing me to that lovely term for umbrellas…hope you dried out well.

OK, need to futz around some more then go forth and rake leaves. All y’all take care.

I’m gonna be so embarrassed if y’all hate “Weeds” now. :flushed: I’m only towards the end of Season One, and now that you mentioned it, I did fall off watching the show for some reason when it was originally on.

So, uh, no promises about where it heads after Season Two. (Season One is delightful, silly fun.)

Oh, THAT’S why they were cleared out of toilet paper at Wal-Mart the other day. The governor did just announce a shutdown, so apparently, everyone is quite literally shitting themselves over it.

Today is warm, but windy as hell, with gusts into the upper 30 mph (!) so hopefully, nobody’s cash blows right outta their hands. (Or worse, mine!)

I don’t have to be at irk till one p.m. and it’s barely 9:30 in the morning. What ever will I do with myself?

If I were more ambitious, I’d hang that one shelf I keep putting off, or maybe catching up on laundry … but let’s face it, I’ll probably sit on my butt till it’s time to get going.

Agreed - season one was good, and I think two was OK (tho I don’t recall) but some time after that, disappointment set in.

MetalMouse - I have a cabin on hold till FCD and I can talk about it. Quick and dirty check of airfares (who knows what they’ll be next year) adds probably $3K, tho it could be less… or more… who knows? For the return trip, I might consider business class if it’s not to obscene, since it’s like 14 hours!! Anyway, we shall discuss.

RoxStar is wearing me out already, and it’s not even 10!!!

Maybe it’s the change of seasons. My cat EC had the Zoomies really bad earlier. Running from room to room, banking off the walls, and ending up on a shelf where I keep my teapot collection! :scream: She has finally simmered down.
