Busy again. And lots of people’s stuff is doing the scenic tour. I stopped at HT for milk and some stuffing for Turkey Day. the cashier asked if I wanted the senior discount.
[Procurement Desk]We’re gonna need a bigger plane[/Procurement Desk]
And as far as your lighting packaging, envelopes tend to end up with 50lbs.bags of canine weight gain powder on them at some point. Without the box and bubble wrap, stuff like lightbulbs goes on a trip from Italy to France.(Fragilé to D’amage)
Moooom, that cruise sounds amazing! I would go in a heartbeat, but I’d probably have to do it alone. I’ve only been on two short cruises in my life. I loved them - the problem is Mrs. W tends to get seasick, so cruising just ain’t her cuppa tea. I’ve gotten her to agree in principle to an Alaska cruise someday, as Seward’s Folly is the only U.S. state I’ve never been to. But that was pre-COVID, so she may be skittish again, no matter how much Dramamine is available.
Just put a deposit on the cruise. We’ve got a balcony cabin on deck 11 (Baja deck) and we’ll probably book our flights thru Princess also, depending on the price. Time to start saving!
Ahem. Catch up on laundry.
And y’all shamed me into it (I blame YOU Mumpers!) so laundry is drying at the House O’Suds and I need to remember to grab it, on my way up to irk.
They’ll be closed before I’m off tonight.
Right now, imma have crab cakes for lunch. You Merry-Landers can just clutch your pearls now, they were {gasp} boxed & frozen.
Don’t forget to pick up dry/clean laundry. Dontforgettopickupdryandcleanlaundry.
Holy crap, what is that large yellow ball in the sky? Gotta get our stuff together and get a walk in the sunshine. Nothing like a sunny day in November in the PNW to lift your spirits.
Breakfast was fried taters, over-easy eggs and bacon. I’m making cashew chicken for our shared dinner with the nabes today.
Greetings y’all. I haven’t had a shower for four days.
But expect to have one tomorrow.
I don’t think I’d be a big success on the Mumpers’ dating site.
We drove over to the ‘little house’ Sunday afternoon so that I could spend Monday tearing out the shower wall for the plumber. I also agreed to fix the wall back up after he did the plumbing part. It still cost a bunch, but he did in about 3 hours what it would have taken me 3 days to do. And it doesn’t leak! Yay!
Anyway, he did his magic Toosday, and Toosday afternoon I patched and spackled the wall. Yesterday I sized and cut appropriate holes in a piece of plastic sheeting that kinda-sorta matches the fiberglass on the other 2 walls and we glued that in place. It wasn’t quite a disaster, but it didn’t go as well as it might have if I’d known what I was doing. We’re letting it set for 24 hours and tonight I’ll caulk.
Tomorrow we will have a shower party.
Wifey is Zooming on the good computer. I’m teetering along on an old laptop I bought many years ago.
Hope you all have a good Thorsday.
Speaking of Zooming, we got a GoToMeeting request from our Administrative Assistant. The idea is that we all wear our company-provided face masks (they should be mailed out soon) to the meeting, and she will take a screenshot of everyone for the company calendar. Most people opted for a week from Tuesday, which is a commuting day for me. Then someone pointed out that most people don’t have cameras on their orifice computers.
Whew! I thought it was me.
Happy Thorsday!
I don’t even know wth day it is anymore.
It’s 48 degrees now, it was 25 this morning. I skipped the dog park because I overslept again this morning and it was cold. Nobody else was going to be at the park but Lucy anyway, and since she goes three times a day (she won’t potty on a leash), we’re going around 4 to meet up.
We’re back at the county park, the city park shut down on us again. The put down grass seed and straw, then put up
to keep the dogs out of that area.
A hard wind will tear the fence and the park people expect it to work with dogs.
We get yelled at all the time by the guy who has to come repair it every day. He uses zip ties, which just stretch the fence and make it tear in other places.
It didn’t help his disposition any when Urban ran up behind him and grabbed the bunch of zip ties out of his hand. Echo escorts him around the park, and tries to lick his face every time he bends over.
I think he doesn’t like us much.
Then again, the county dog park people don’t like us too much either. Urban’s dad says we are ‘the bad roving dog street gang that comes to take over their turf’. Urban’s mom took him to the county park yesterday and some woman got mad because Urban kept stealing her dog’s toys.
Well… you take toys to the dog park, you take your chances.
Our dogs aren’t bad, but they are playful and rambunctious.
Went to the pet store this morning, Got all my dog and cat food 50% off. Thinking about going back and stocking up on some stuff. Don’t know, dog food doesn’t keep too long and I’d need some more mouse proof containers to put it in.
Thanksgiving Dinner is happening in the armpit this year. The HFH is making it at my mother’s house. I don’t know if I am going yet. I hate the damn drive there, and spending time with the HFH is not my idea of a good day.
The lfb guy should be here any minute. Painting for reals starts today, so I’ll get to see if I like the color I picked. I’d better like it since I bought a 5 gallon bucket of it. I’m thinking about painting the kitchen the same color. Or maybe the hallways. See what it looks like first.
I hear you Bumba, I went more than a few days without a tub or a shower. I was ready to rent a motel room.
I keep cat food in this. I leave it in the 15-lb. bag and put the whole bag in here. Very cheap: ~$18.00 Comes in different sizes.

So I walked to the oncologist’s office for my 9:00 appointment only to find it’s tomorrow. Oh, well, it was a nice walk. That’s about 3 miles total, and I discovered I’m out of antihistamine, so I’ll be walking another 2 miles total to get that. My coat dried after yesterday’s drenching, but my shoes didn’t, so my feet are under the impression it’s still pouring rain. Actually, the sun almost succeeded in breaking through the clouds for about 3 minutes, but was overwhelmed and forced to fall back.
** Bumba**, I’ve been trying to decrease my showering from daily to every other day, unless I’ve worked up a sweat. It’s better for the environment, I hear, and better for my skin. (I do, of course, do a thorough washing up on the off days.) So you’re just being more environmentally-, dermatologically conscious than the rest of us.
Moooom, sounds like the trip of a lifetime, and you’re planning far enough ahead to make a COVID cancellation unlikely. (Fingers crossed so I didn’t just jinx it.)
Nettie, I heard Costco was limiting TP. I ordered one of their mega-packs a few weeks ago. Then I did my usual where-can-I-put-it-all reverse scavenger hunt. But I’ve been so sure people wouldn’t be panic-buying/hoarding this time.
Sari, sorry for my ignorance, but what does “HFH” stand for? I figure the F maybe stands for either “family” or, uh, “fricking,” but I can’t get the H’s. Whoever they are, avoiding them sounds like a good idea, what with COVID lurking about.
FCD talked to his mother earlier - she was quoting Fox news regarding Covid - i.e. the only people dying have underlying conditions. She doesn’t think having our nephew over is a big deal. I don’t know if FCD wants to go now or not - maybe just wait till we can all be vaccinated? It won’t break my heart if we don’t go.
Meanwhile, I need to figure out supper. I kinda want to order Chinese.
I keep seeing people posting about Chinese food. Chinese take-out or delivery was easy in L.A. Up where I am now? There was one Chinese restaurant in town. They closed last Spring when their landlord would not renew their lease. Too bad; for the only game in town, the were pretty good.
For years I’ve been trying to get my family to “shift” Thanksgiving to a different weekend. Flights are expensive, airports are crowded, and my married nieces are often with their husbands’ families, so we’re not all together anyway. This year we were actually going to do it - have a big family gathering in early December or maybe January, when people have fewer commitments and traveling is easier.
Of course it’s not going to happen at all now, but my point is that the calendar doesn’t have to tell you when Thanksgiving is. If I were you I’d save Florida for the spring.
If it helps, the CDC has already decided that question for you: It’s asking people not to travel for Thanksgiving because “the opportunity to translocate disease or infection from one part of the country to another” is a very bad thing during the surge.
And regarding your nephew’s presence:
“People who have not been living in your household for the 14 days before you are celebrating should not be considered members of your household and so you should take those extra precautions, even wearing masks within your own home.”
I’m sorry your MIL isn’t taking this disease more seriously. Gotta be frustrating…and worrisome.
I think he’s leaning towards not going until we can be vaccinated (whether his folks get vaccinated or not.) Plus he’s really pissed at his mom, which I’ve never known to happen before…
I ended up having a bowl of veggie-beef soup, since FCD didn’t want to eat. There are only one or 2 places that will deliver Chinese where we are, plus a couple others not too terribly far away where we could carry out. But the one place we’ve been ordering from is quite good and not too expensive. Plus FCD really likes their pad thai. Not that it matters tonight.
Anyway, we shall see what happens regarding our trip.
{{{{ }}}} to everybody – if you don’t need them now, I’m sure you will sooner or later…
We usually go to Lady SCAdian’s parents’ place, in the next town over, for Memorial Day, Turkey Day, Xmas, and New Year’s, but not this year. Milady’s uncle and aunt live in the neighbouring state and usually join us for at least one of those, but people coming from their state to our state are supposed to self-quarantine for two weeks, so that’s not happening. (Wonder how that’s working for people near the state line who live in one and work in the other…)*
Wheelie – wise decision!
FCM, if you don’t go to FL my offer to assist with cookie disposal still stands.
* The other thing I keep wondering about – how are the kids who go to the tech highs doing any of their shop work when they have to stay home? Rather difficult to do carpentry or plumbing or hairdressing or whatever on line, I would think…
MIL called - turns out nephew never wears a mask (big surprise) so she uninvited him. So we’re going. And that’s that. For now.
Evening all. BLT’s have been consumed, leaves were raked this morning (2 bags full), and the empty recycle bin is back in the garage, so I have been a responsible citizen today. Got the bills for my credit cards and gas and they’ll go out tomorrow, so that should take care of the November bills.
FCM, enjoy the trip to Florida, but don’t be surprised if nephew finds a way to worm himself into the place…be cautious. And for the cruise, save up for the Business Class seats…I flew Delta from Detroit-Beijing (14 hours+) and paid the extra $780 for the upgrade and it was money very well spent.
Herald, I’m still planning to go see my brother and family, but will be cautious, even though they are all college grads (and several Phd’s), they are also very conservative and I worry that they will not take proper precautions. We will see.
nellie, I bathe 3-4 times a week, full bath with washing hair and shaving and that seems to be enough. And I’m guessing from context that the “FH” is “From Hell” in sari’s message, but the first H is a puzzlement, I admit.
Bumba, yeah, good plumbing costs $$$, but your work is saving a bunch, albeit it might not be as pretty as some.
Everyone have a good evening (or morning for our European Mumpers).
