It's almost Easter 2012 and no Peeps thread yet?

I’ve just bitten into my first Peeps chick of the season. I don’t know what it is about those little suckers, but I just love them.

You know what makes them really good. Toast them over a fire, being careful not to burn them. The sugar on the outside melts and forms a crust. They are crunchy on the outside and soft and melty on the inside. And very very hot, so be careful.

My wife and kids, and everyone else I know, think Peeps are disgusting. I love them though.

Hot Tamales at least have a “flavor.” Those things don’t taste anything at all like chicken.

Every year, the Washington Post has a Peeps diarama contest. Here are this year’s results:

I love 'em too. I avoid buying candy or other sweets all year, but I have no defense against those little neon yellow birds. Or their hot pink bunny siblings.

I’m thinking most people think, ‘what’s the point?’… isn’t the world supposed to end soon?

Making a peeps sunflower cake for Easter:

A whim, not a huge peep fan, but family likes them so they’ll be in the house. Just too cute.

I’m a Peeps addict. Monday I’ll go out and buy all the 50% off boxes.

Come to Kansas City and burn 'em to your heart’s desire (scroll down a bit).

My friend bought me some of the new chocolate-dipped peeps. Actually fairly tasty!

Just yesterday I roasted the last of the 75% off Peeps I bought, a week and a half after Easter.

Have you ever roasted a Peep? I do it gently, over hot coals, not flame. They start to swell, then brown lightly as the sugar on the outside caramelizes. Have to be careful not to burn your fingers, picking them off the stick.

Yummy!:stuck_out_tongue:

Now I’m wishing I could find Cadbury Eggs at some time other than Easter. Have to wait a whole year more for THEM!
