Not as a password, it’s when places like my bank have a list of questions they ask to confirm my identity. The problem with that sort of thing is that I have a few, well, less than stable relatives who know all the stuff like everywhere I went to school, pets names, but none of them know what my first car is 'cos I wasn’t in the country when I got it.
We’re off on an ecology field trip today, which should be interesting. I think the plan’s to learn surveying techniques and stuff, which is good 'cos we all complained about not getting enough practical stuff last year.
I just need to shower and fix myself a flask of tea to bring, without which such things cannot be done.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and dark with a predicted high of 91 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I think it rained some overnight. Anywho I am awake early due to bladder and the fact that I went beddy bye at eight-thirty last night. Today is laundry day. Rah. I have been informed that the Harvey’s Sto has some nice sweet N.O.T. so I shall venture over there and see. I’m thinkin’ baked sweet N.O.T. would be good with the steak and sallit for tonight’s sup. Maybe some fresh green beans or spareguts as well.
Nuts sounds like the kind of thing that a flask of whiskey might help as well.
Sunny hope your stuff has arrived or will arrive soonest. You get to arrange stuff in your new digs. Ummm… better thee than me! ::skritches:: for new puppeh.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. I hear rumblin’s from the bedroom so I guess OYKW has now arisen.
And I’m back at my desk, fighting to wake up. I slept thru the night, but I feel wrung out - I guess the alarm went off during REM and threw me off kilter. Not that I’m generally on kilter, but you know…
My first vehicle was a 1984 Chevy S-10 Blazer. It was sitting, inoperative at the dealership where my dad worked and every time we went to visit him there I would say, “look, it’s my Blazer!” Finally after months of nagging and my sweet 16 coming soon, they got it for me, had it fixed, and even spiffed up the body. Yes, I was a slightly spoiled only child!
Now I’m sitting here between two content sleeping dogs. I hate to have to disturb them just to go to work.
Someone above reminded me, anyone have a good recommendation for concrete cleaner? I went to the hardware store and bought what they suggested. I came home and gave it a try and my black pants ended up thoroughly speckled. What they had sold me was a $12 gallon of bleach! :dubious: And it really didn’t work very well, cost and gullibility aside.
It’s a dark 50 degrees outside, supposed to be cloudy all day with a high of 59.
My bladder woke me around 5, Ripple kept me up. He is finally going back to sleep and I can have my hand back. When he jumped up next to me he grabbed my hand and was holding it between his paws.
He’s feeling better, so now keeping him quiet is going to be a challenge.
And the Brew Crew won in LA. It was a great day to be a Wisconsin sports fan.
My church doesn’t give cash out to anyone, either. We do gift cards and referrals to other services that can help. Need money for diapers? Here’s a referral to a charity that donates diapers to kids in need. Need food? Here’s a referral to the nearest food bank. And so on.
It’s crappy scammers that try to get money from parishioners that suck butt.
Sari, poor Ripple! Hope your doggo feels better soon.
Y’all are a chatty bunch. Will have to go back to read all.
Irking. I have to go to the local dealership to pick up the rim (wheel) hubby bought for me to have a spare. I kept one tire that had never been plugged when I got new tires so now once i drop both off at the Auto Skills Shop on base today I will have a proper spare. I shall drop them off when I go to the weekly (too often) meeting today.
Other than getting a spare that is it for me today so Blurf
Yesterday was a great day… I said nothing about Saturday! The Badgers are bumming me out. But between the Brewers, Badgers, Bucks, and Packers… 3 out of 4 isn’t bad. (Bucks have won every game so far. Granted, it’s preseason and I really don’t follow NBA, but still.)
Morning all. The guys with the new shower door were here by 7:45am and had it done by 8:30, so that takes care of that. Still waiting on the contractor to finish a couple of small jobs, I’ll give him to Thursday and then ‘prod’ him (with lightly prod or cattle prod, depending on my mood) about it.
Nut, thanks for clearing that up, glad it works, and sorry it has to work on the family.
I wish- I’ve had to feed the lazy little buggers sugar syrup again, forget getting honey off 'em.
Field trip was fun, if a little damp. It was supposed to be a joint trip with 1st and 2nd years, but only 6 of the 1st years showed up, there were about 18 from my year. Weird, I’d expect it to be the other way round.
Well, I do still manage to drink more than I spill at this point. I’m only about 2 hours north of Swampy, so just subtract 3-5 degrees from his forecast…
No way! My 2nd car was a ‘74 AMC Hornet! It was grey in color, so I called it the Galloping Ghost. Then the paint started peeling and it became the Leapin’ Leper. A beast of a car, though!
Hudson Hornet; same last name but other than that …
I would have to go through the paperwork but I believe ours was a 51 or 52 in theory. I say in theory because so many parts were changed over the years and owners that it was kind of a mutt by the time it came to me in 1977. It looked like this down to the color
although I never remember it in any state that could possibly attain a shine.
Car makers reusing names though ------ my 1958 Edsel wasn’t fit for restoration so I did a rod/low-rider out of it and scored a lot of kicker trim parts (racing stripes and inside accessories) from the AMC of the same name. Although even an automotively brain dead person couldn’t confuse this
with this
Some day if I ever sign up for a place to store images -------- I painted it metalflake L-M saddle bronze and pearl 60 Caddy gold, the interior was tan shag and black buckskin, and it had these giant fuzzy dice and little “dingo balls” with white and tan smiley faces all around the headliner. I sold it to a couple Latinos from Jersey who just couldn’t get over the fact that I had all the details right down to the “butter knife” (straight razor) clipped behind the sun-visor. That car I DO NOT miss (it was a real mechanical ---- well, Edsel) but it was cool as Hell.
