It's fucking cold tonight

Well, he *is * cute.

I grew up in Texas. I hate the heat. I hate Texas’ idea of winter- 60 degrees or so, no snow.

When I moved here to Oregon, I was told how brutal the winter were- I was told that, by the end of the winter, I’d be sick of snow.

We’ve had some snow, to be honest- a heck of a lot more than Texas. But this is the kicker- HOUSTON got a white Christmas this year, and we didn’t. I can’t express my feelings of irritation at that, as I’ve always wanted a white Christmas, and I figured I was guaranteed one here.

And now? It’s sixty degrees during the day. Oh, sure, it drops down to near freezing each night- but that’s just not cutting it. All the snow has melted It seems I packed the Texas winter along with everything else I’d acquired in Texas.

You guys want to stop bogarting the winter weather and send it our way?

You know, I read this post for the first time about three hours ago and have been trying to think of some witty retort ever since but I’ve still not thought of anything more debonaire than a long string of emoticons or exclamation marks so I’ll just thank you meekly and quietly stalk you for the next few months.

And how! <Smug, satisfied smile>

Gobear, honey, don’t rub it in. Airman’s been working nights the past couple months.

Robin

Umm… won’t you have to wait a bit before you can quietly stalk anyone?

I was trying to figure out how this thread got from “Damn, it’s cold!” to everyone getting 6-10 inches of smutty innuendo, then I realized it’s FUCKING cold! Ah, the best kind.

Tell me about it! It’s only supposed to get up to 54 degrees on Monday!!!

What?

(Hey, we had hurricanes last summer. Four of them. Allow me a bit of gloating. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Seriously, guys, this one looks bad. Stay warm, and here’s hoping the power stays on.

As long as he keeps to level paved walkways and doesn’t walk up any steps, I should be able to manage.

Well, wheels are quieter than feet, don’tchaknow.

Hey! I just bought myself a SDMB membership! This place is addicting, as I’m sure you all know…
Anyways, I just wanted to come and see what you all are whining about. I am missing work due to a blizzard today. It’s -49C and -66C with windchill. Beat that!

I was housesitting last night and had to drive home today for food. It was scary. My little 4wd almost got stuck in drifts and I almost got lost due to poor visibility. I definitely DID NOT want to walk. I can just see myself getting lost on the tundra and freezing to death.

Anyways, continue.

Welcome, Nunavut Boy. Always nice to see our northernmost reaches represented.

Please don’t freeze to death. We’d very much miss you on the boards! Instead drink the virtual cup of hot cocoa I gave to Lola Granola earlier in this thread.

No, thank you. Since you moved there it’s all yours.

And since you’re here, could you please tell us what people in Nunavut consider warm or even hot weather? I’m curious.

Hot, if we’re lucky, is a week or so of 20C weather. In the summer months, (june-august) the temp is usually around 10-15C. But it’s like that 24/7 cause the sun doesn’t set. So it’s OK. But then there’s the mosquitoes, and I don’t even want to get into that.

I was in Manhattan today. Whee… yeah. Then I went home and drove around for a while. Did the craziest things in parking lots. Gonna be a good 12-20, and probably around 20 here.

It’s effing cold.

Sigh.

I only wish it were colder.

Much colder.
