HAPPY BITHDAY shoe!!!

Nut, dither away!

Happy purple day! I hope you are feeling much better!

And I hope you bought the dishwasher. The portable one that rolls on the floor.

Thanks, **swampy **et al, for the birthday cheer! I still don’t feel super great, but that’s only because eating continues to be this enormous effort. I’ve taken to chugging Ensure like a tequila shot, just to get some fuel into me.

But I got a nice compliment on Facebook about the pretty color and good disposition of my ratties - that warmed my soul. I took a screenshot, I was so tickled & proud of myself.

Happy birthday!

Happy birthday shoe!

sari, while they’re not cheaper, the butcher that I go to isn’t too expensive either. The meat that I buy is of better quality and they buy mostly from family farms within 150 miles of the shop. I bought a pound of grass fed black angus ground 85/15 beef Friday for ~$7. That will go into a dish that will make 4-6 meals, so not a high price for protein.

My AC froze up. I survived the night with the ceiling and floor fans on and took a look this morning before it gets up to 90F. The lines looked like a 2" piece of PVC and even the filter had a big hunk-o-ice on it (the unit is pretty much a motel type one with heating and AC, but with ductwork into the bedroom) I vacuumed the whole thing out, scrubbed the filter (it’s not a disposable, so I do this about once a month anyway) and aimed the heat gun on the frozen up part while I fixed breakfast. It’s still airing out and when I get up to do KP, I’ll check it again and if everything is thawed, I’ll crank it back up. I did leave a message at the apartment office to recharge the refrigerant when they check the HVAC unit this week. I also reminded them about the work orders that I have had in since March (they were only entering occupied apartments in emergencies during lockdown) so that they can get everything at once.

Other than the usual Sunday chores, I’m going to play in the studio today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy **Shoe **Day!

**MetalMouse **- did you mean procrastinate? You don’t have to lie about it - really…

I’ve finished my gardening, and in about half an hour, I’ll turn off the sprinkler and be done for the day. I got all the iris and dutch iris in the ground, plus I moved a few daylilies and liriope, and I planted the crape myrtle. From the looks of the long-range forecast, I’ll be dragging the sprinklers out a lot over the next couple of weeks. Dammit.

Now, what to do with the rest of my day??? hmmmmmm

I’m paying less than that for 96% at Weis, but I need to check out the butcher anyway.
One pound of meat won’t make that many meals here, my son eats a lot of meat, and I try to eat keto. Not been too good at it lately.

Thank you Doggio, isn’t Ice-T the guy who went on to play a cop on L&O?

I have to figure out what to do with some mail I got. People who lived here years ago, they are lucky I opened this by mistake instead of just throwing it out. The got a sympathy card with their dog’s footprints from their vet. Then again, they may not care, but my son treasures the card with Mackie’s footprint. I could try to call their vet to let them know, but if calling their vet is anything like calling my vet, that could take weeks. I could go by and drop it off, except I don’t know if I’d be allowed in. I don’t have an envelope big enough to send it back to them. I wish they would change their address, but considering all the mail I get from collection agencies and that the police were here looking for their daughter, they probably don’t want to anybody to know where they are. I should also check the name on the envelope before I open it, but I don’t.

Thanks, Nellie. No, I didn’t sew my own clothes. A friend made the jacket and I traded her something for it years ago, Smoke & Fire Co. made the petticoat (skirt), chemise and bonnet. I did make the apron. Some of my friends hand-sew their own clothes, including elaborate gowns, stays and uniforms/clothes for their husbands & kids, knit stockings, gloves, etc. and do a marvelous job at all of it. I can sew but I don’t really enjoy it.

Happy Birthday,Shoe!!!

I’m glad we reached a consensus on mustard shudder in Stroganoff.

Yesterday we got out the pressure washer to try to blast the moss off of the deck. After about an hour of that it blew up a thunderstorm. So we quit. Wifey says we need a new pressure washer anyway. It’s pretty weak. Or else we don’t know how to work it. :dubious: To this point it had been sitting in the shed for something like 15 years and the instructions are long gone. le sigh

Today a contractor is coming by to look at our basement and maybe bid on pouring a floor in there. I can still do a lot of stuff* but I’ve never done concrete, so I’d rather someone else do it.

I prolly shouldn’t say this 'cause they’ll revoke my “Red Blooded Merikan” card, but I watched the cast of Hamilton do a song from the play on PBS one time and was going to turn it off part way through, 'cept Wifey made me leave it.
I don’t like rap.

Miss Owl, I enjoyed the video of Kopek, but it made me sad. :frowning:

  • It takes me three times as long as it used to, but I can still do it. Mostly.

Take care.

Since we’re all agreed that the Pillsbury stroganoff recipe sucks mightily, can someone recommend one that doesn’t use cream-of-anything soup but still had onions and mushrooms and sour cream?

**FCD **is up from his nap and I’m making him some boxed mac-n-cheese. No clue what what we’ll do for supper, but I’m sure we’ll figure it out.

No mustard in this one, but all the other ones I looked at had mustard in them.

I am going to smack my son. We have to pick up groceries at 3, which means leaving around 2:45.
At 1:30 he says he is going to bed for an hour. Uh, nooooooo, because then he won’t want to get up.
I told him to stay up or he will feel worse.
So at 2, he goes to bed.

Thanks, sari! That looks good. Next time, I’ll give it a try.

Finding shorts in June is a challenge, it seems. But I managed to order some from Penney’s site on sale. Correction - I could have found plenty if I was willing to spend upwards of $50 per pair, which I’m not.

Afternoon all. Had to wait outside for 45 minutes at the Diner due to limited seating, but they had a nice patio and I had the Sunday paper and a book, so the time passed agreeably. Food was good but it was 91F when I came out, so home it was.

FCM, I guess I lie to myself about how the yard looks…

Sari, smack him with one of these, that’‘’ wake him up…https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81%2Bgzl3E-sL.AC_SX425.jpg And give the vet a call/leave a message and see if you get a response.

Bumba, what kind of basement floor do you have? Wood/Dirt??

Stay cool, Red. How the South was settled before AC I’ll mever know.

Take care all.

Felt well enough to nibble various solid foods, plus most of a big bowl of homemade chicken soup I made and froze right before getting ill. (Good timing!)

The weather is absolutely gorgeous and it’s a shame to waste it. I may piddle around with some flower seeds. But a nap is calling me … it sounds just like birds chirping and my cat purring.

We let Salsa’s make supper, and I’ve got enough left over for tomorrow’s lunch. Yum!

The rest of the evening will be serious chillage.

Didn’t sleep after all. Went outside and piddled with aforementioned flower seeds - oh, imma go update the gardening thread in Cafe Society. It doubles as a blog post or garden journal, so I remember what the hell I planted.

Sunny but not hot, so I didn’t feel overexerted and I think the sunshine did me a lot of good, mental health wise.

Treated myself to takeout sushi as a birthday dinner … y’all, I think the secret to eating more/better is to let someone else do the work!

Supply hunting has been acceptable. Lysol’s getting more reliable (even found some at Walmart today), although store brand isn’t back yet. Disinfectant wipes can still be tricky, but I’m pretty well stocked right now anyway (still keeping an eye out). Hand sanitizer’s doing better (oddly, it’s the off brands of that that are coming back, haven’t seen GermX or Purell). Even found disposable masks at Walgreens, bought a 50ct (OK, so it was $30, but the one I’ve been reusing has hit its endurance).

Still planning to build up stock of such essentials as time goes on, pacing myself so I’m not becoming a hoarder locust. I do think there’s some cause for concern about a second wave of Covid, plus as my husband puts it “who knows what the hell’s going to happen next?”. It’s just that kind of a year.

sari, I spent 12 years in my last apartment and still got mail for the previous resident. I’ve been here almost 4 years now and get mail for two former tenants. The Staples coupons that they send in postcard form I use. I can always use a $10 coupon for something there.

OW, that was the ruble that I met.

I had good AC for a few hours, but it’s beginning to peter out again. I’m going to call maintenance so that it’s prioritized tomorrow. There’s about a half inch of ice on the lines again, so it really does need work.

I made ground beef/ lentil / veggie soup and a cucumber salad for supper. 'Twas good. Once KP is done, I’ll chill (figuratively, given the AC sitch). Tomorrow, Nelson needs to be at the vet at 8:15, so I can stay up a little later tonight. He’ll be upset when he gets out, so we’ll likely go to the dog park for a bit and while he’s in, I may get some Frosty Paws for a treat for him.
