Right? Every Monday morning a new mmp must appear? Well, poof MMP poof See, it’s magic!
I’m starting my Monday off with a job search as y’all well know by now. What are y’all up to? I figure that’s the perfect question to start the hijackin’.
Hoping that I get a job soon. If I don’t, I’m unlikely to get anything before September, by which point I will be out of money. I’m also counting days on “being at Mom’s for a month”: she was able to behave for a week, but she’s already in her usual mode of taking for granted that if I’m around, I’m available. Mother’s day is May 2nd and we’re already getting a ton of drama on Middlebro’s side, but next week I’ll have to explain (both to Mom and to my housesitter) that I Will Be Going To My House.
An offer this week or next would be a godsend.
I’m trying to decide at which point, if I don’t get a project soon, should I cut up on the self-employment. Right now I’m paying SS tax “in case I get something (either consulting or translating)” but not getting any income.
I knew things were going along too smoothly. ReboSon got arrested for DWI Saturday night. The legal system is a big pain in the ass, and he’s still not out on bond. We spent yesterday getting his car out of impound and finding a bonding company. The line to post bond was HUGE (the bonding company won’t go on Sundays because they’re short staffed) and we decided to wait until today and let the bonding company do it, since we both have to work. Which means he won’t get out until tonight. At least he doesn’t have to work today.
ARRGGHH!! I’m so pissed.
Happy Monday, my ass.
We have a lawyer, and we’ll deal with all the crap. Stupid kid.
Sorry to hear about the boy, Rebo - maybe he’ll learn something from the experience. It is to be hoped, no?
I have triumphed in the war against technology, and the laptop is now working properly. Well, it was when the IT guy was here but I’ve unplugged it since then. Hopefully it will work properly again when I set it up for this afternoon’s session. Otherwise there will be blood, and it won’t be mine.
I can haz blurfs; played bambilance until midnight, and I get up at 4:30… Well not today. I went until 5:00
Swamps, I’m not going to ask for a lot of details on your bailing out, but I wanna know if you did anything fun, witty, or cheeky when you told them. When I quit my second job, I inexplicably brought in donuts for my office buds, and turned in my resignation. I found out a couple of years later this became a minor corporate legend. At a different job, I turned in a plain, run of the mill resignation letter where the sign off was ‘Happy Trails’.
ETA: ReboSon needs a clue by four crossed with an intro to tea-totalling.
Good morning. I think. Given that it is Monday. Urgh.
We’re going to go look for a new lawnmower, because ours went tits-up. I detest shopping for anything, so it will not be at all enjoyable. I just put on a bigass pot of veggie bits (2 gallons of veggie bits) that I’ve been saving, which means that I’ll have an ample supply of vegetable stock in the freezer by the time the day is done.
At least I don’t have to concern myself with making dinner, as we have a bunch of leftover Ham & Potato soup that I made yesterday. I made my own bread bowls to serve it in, and they came out great! Everyone was happy with their dinner last night.
The dogs are tracking in mud on my freshly scrubbed and oiled floors, so I’ll need to fix that problem, and get things cleaned up. Again. Always something.
Sorry to hear about your son, Dolores. I 2nd someone else’s comment about hoping that this ultimately turns out to be a learning experience.
This is actually a good Monday for me. I’m relatively painfree, surprisingly. I kayaked 25 miles on Saturday, and had a good time. I fell in once, but that was when I was trying to get out for lunch. The takeout point was a morass of mud, with only one good place that was mostly mud-free. Two pokey people were sitting on that point, taking flippin’ FOREVER to get back on the water. When she FINALLY moved a bit out of the way, I let my impatience get the best of me, and tried to rush out of the water, with predictable results. At least I had dry clothes to change into for the 2nd half of the trip.
Well, whaddya know! Today, dear mumpers, is Confederate Memorial Day. A fact that had escaped me. I blame it on the corporate world. There should have been sales. How do we know it’s a holiday unless there are sales?
Turns out though that the State of Jawja knew it. All state offices are closed. Including the Georgia Department of Labor (known as GDOL, aka that GD Labor Office). I got gussied up early just to find that out when I got there.
Also, I have accomplished one errand and a chore. The errand was to go to the pool supply place and buy a replacement bag for the Polaris pool cleaner thingy. Old bag had a rip in it. I also bought a three pack of those foam rubber cleaner thingys for Polaris. The one that was on it was all but gone. The poor things take a beatin’ when they’re scrubbin’ away. Thus, with those bought, I put the new bag and a scrubber thingy on Polaris and am lettin’ it do its thang cleanin’ up le pool. It will be pool time before ya know it! Pool guy is showin’ up at some point to redo some pipes. Turns out I could get away with three pipes instead of the current five pipes what with convertin’ to salt water and all, which I am goin’ ahead with despite my current state of not employed. However, this is already paid for so go ahead I shall. I mean, it’s 1500 bucks I don’t need to spend but already spent. The good part is, once it’s in I will need to add durin’ the course of a year three to four 7 lb of salt to the pool versus around three-hundred bucks of chemicals each year. The trade off is worth it to me!
Wow, that was rambly!
Ralf what can I say. Into every kayaker’s life a little water must fall.
NonAcidOne we need to work on a nickname cause if’n you post in the MMP you get one, veggie stock is always a good thing. I do the same thing with veggie, chicken and beef stock. There’s pretty much always some of all three in the freezer. Lawnmowers are designed to die in the Spring. I firmly beleive that is built into the design of all lawnmowers, edgers, weed whackers, leaf blowers and other various and sundry lawn equipment.
{{{Soapy}}} we love ya and are here for ya.
Rebo sorry about your son. Here’s hopin’ everything’s ok. Maybe he’ll learn.
BooFae yay for the triumph over technology. I say celebrate with a beerverage after work.
Nava here’s some good mumper work vibes for ya. Sounds like goin’ to your own house would be a good thing for sanity right about now.
Soapy, I’m sorry about your woes. I hope things settle down soon.
Rebo, I’m sorry, too, about your son. Hopefully, he’ll learn. Law enforcement doesn’t dick around when it comes to DUI. I’ve had a couple of friends who learned this the hard way.
Sigh, unfortunately, it’s another Monday, and here I am at work. Now that I’m back here, everything that happened on Thursday to make me feel pretty low is rushing back at me. I guess the silver lining is that my direct supervisor called in sick today.
My weekend was fantastic. I wish it was the weekend all the time.
So, what can you tell us about this? Anything specific to the Death Star Phone Company, or is it just the generic fast and loose stuff that seems to pervade so many customer service and sales organizations?
gotti it is more on the lines of generic fast and loose stuff. Again, while not illeagal, is unethical. I am a frim believer in doing the right thing and I cannot and will not participate in stuff I know is wrong.
I’m baking a turkey breast. The one I was gonna bake for lunch yesterday. I gots me a hankerin’ for some turkey and dressin’. The dressin’ part is actually already to be baked in a while. I even gots giblets to make some giblet gravy! Hey, just cause I’m out of work does not mean I can’t eat good!
