It's Monday Somewhere-an MMP

Your meteorology monkeys have a dartboard? High-falutin’!

Up, caffeinated, off to work. Long day today

Too cold to get out from the covers. Blurf.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 36 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 67 for the day. Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be 74 with rain, then cool back down next week. We shall see.

No real plans afoot for the day. I should iron some shirts bein’ as they’re hangin’ in the laundry room all ready to be ironed. I don’t like to iron but I do like a hunnert percent cotton shirts which require ironin’ so I suck it up and iron when I have to do so. Woe!

Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and need to consider feedin’ rumbly tummy. I also need to get that hunk of poke roast in the slow cooker at some point. Durin’ Lent we do the meatless thang on Firdays only. No need to get all fanatical about it I say.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Higgs and Taz and I joined **FCD **in bed, altho the critters ran in and out a few times. We snoozed till 8. Now we’re showered and ready to go to breakfast before the freezing rain sets in.

Good times!

Happy Saturday!

It’s overcast and 17 degrees outside.
I don’t need to go outside and so I won’t.

Do not confuse Swampy with the facts. :dubious:

Very blurf morning. Hit the snooze button several times, much to HFM’s vocal disgust. She lost that debate :). At least lunch for my department is being provided by our boss today, so I don’t have to figure out what to pack. Will need to do some minor grocery shopping after irk, but no urgent homework today (only assignment due within about the next week is due tomorrow and won’t take very long to complete, so I’m not feeling all that pressed to do it today). It’s going to be an early night, since the last several nights have not been good for useful sleep.

I’ve brekkied, purtified, put the poke roast in the slow cooker, have carrots ready to go in later, and got all the shirts to be ironed out with the iron heatin’ up. Ahrnin’ about to commence. I feel all domesticated!

Good morning, MMPers! Yesterday was Payday, so today is Pay Bills Day. Unless I get a case of the itcanwaits, which is likely, and will turn today into Paybillsday Eve. Friend is bringing her spaniel this afternoon so we can get in some bark park time before tomorrow’s forecasted change back to cold and possibly icy weather. There’s been rumblings about the possibility of enough iciness Sunday night that work might be postponed or cancelled for Monday, a possibility that made some of my co-workers refresh their religious beliefs and/or regress into grade schoolers. ("Please, God? Oh, please, ohpleaseohpleaseohplease let them close [del] school [/del] work … ")

Back from breakfast. It’s 21° but it feels so much colder than yesterday’s 16°. Probably because of the overcast and the wind. But we’re now in for the day, so who cares!

On the way back from the cafe, we stopped at CVS and got **FCD **a new knee brace. He’s feeling better and we need to protect his knee so it continues to heal. This brace should help. I hope.

Meanwhile, there’s laundry to haul downstairs and dishes to wash. Good times ahead!!

Since the milk is no good, I’m off for cheap Sveeedish brekie before the supermarket & (probably) hunkering down in advance of this afternoon’s storm.

  • That would be Icky-a. (They don’t open early, though)

Ahrnage has been accomplished. I put the carrots in with the roast. It’s smellin’ nummy! I may or may not make an apple pie this afternoon. This remains to be seen. Bakeage of sweet N.O.T. shall also occur. If I were feelin’ more domesticated, I might even spiff up da cave a bit, but I don’t foresee that level of domesticity.

Heat wave!

It’s above freezing, but not enough that the rain has melted the snow. That should make for some icy roads when the temp drops again. Meanwhile, I’m going to get out and do the things that require driving.

Happy Saturday!

It’s snowing.

Chickarina soup for N.O.L.

Nothing else to do now except irk.

Well, that was fun. The brace from CVS didn’t fit, so I had to take it back and find another. RiteAid doesn’t carry any kind of braces, so I ended up going to <cue ominous music> Wal Mart… on a Saturday!! I found the brace I wanted, but even the Speedy Check Out lines took forever. While there, I also remembered Easter grass - all they had was recycled paper grass - I guess they no longer make the shiny cellophane grass of my youth. Oh well.

I multi-tasked the trip - filled the car with gas and ran it thru the car wash. It’s not a great car wash, but it got most of the nasty salt mess off the car, and it was far enough from home that I think any residual water blew off, so that’s good.

I’ve been back half an hour and so far, I’ve done the dishes, hauled all the laundry downstairs, sorted it, and started a load, spot cleaned the carpet where Ziva horked yesterday, and brought in the plasma cutter that was delivered today. I just helped **FCD **de-box his new toy, and I hauled the box and packing back to the garage.

WHEW!! So much for a relaxing Saturday…

Ventured out a little but stayed within a couple miles of home. Because the snow is being followed by freezing rain our glorious city decided not to bother treating the roads, just running the odd plow here and there. Went to breakfast at Don’s Under the Bridge – safest place in Pittsburgh to eat. Because there are always at least two cops or prison guards eating there. The food is really yummy, the cook/owner drinks on duty, and he and his main waitress/daughter yell at each other. Food and a floor show! It’s a dive in the middle of nothing and well worth it. The whole menu is ala carte so you can get just what you want the way you want it. Followed that with a stop at a library sale and scored 4 big bags of great books (history, fiction, cooking) for 5 bucks.

FCM – if you want to look/call around the ones made by Juzo are top notch. Both of us have trick/painful knees and the “knee sleeves” have been a Godsend. Enough support and you hardly notice they are on.

I use an XL and the Wench a L.

grumble, grumble Their brekie is 9:30 - 11, I thought it was 10 - 11:30; got there just in time to miss it. At 9:15 I started to do something else because I thought it was too early to go there.
Went to the really good, but divey place that is further away instead. It was already starting to snow by the time I left. Groceries have been obtained & all of the cold stuff is away. Guess I shall head upstairs to put the rest of it away.

You could get that all in one with The Authentic* Revolutionary War Electric Stove Cookbook*.

Does it involve flying a kite in the rain?

That is neither fiction nor cooking (if you discount Mr. Franklin’s fingers).

Congratulate me on my new job - Realtor / investment adviser - based upon this email I received from “John” - I am a white Zimbabwean farmer, currently in hiding.
