Technically, it’s not midnight where I am, but it is in Texas, where I’d like to be.
I’m in!
Technically, it’s not midnight where I am, but it is in Texas, where I’d like to be.
I’m in!
And, you should see my house.
Older bro has taken my room. I’ve moved into Mom’s bedroom. Mom has moved all her bookshelves out and gotten a dresser, so there’s more room for clothes storage. This, however, means the library downstairs is now choked with her books, my books, and all my art supply crap and computer projects. Plus, I have no desk.
So, yesterday (technically, today, as I’m still in Sunday-land), we bought a Sauder desk, hutch, and a cheap desk chair. There are piles of books all over the dinner table and half the counters. There are piles of more books where no one will trip over them. There are boxes of books to be given to the library, and even - gasp - books to be thrown away. It’s a concept I’m very uncomfortable about, but let’s face it, no one needs a Dummy’s Guide to Excel 2001 anymore. Or a listing of all the RV parks in California from 1997.
What I’d like to do is completely organize the library by Library of Congress categorization for nonfiction, with an additional poetry section, and then fiction separated by main genres. What I’m going to have to settle for is some vague “shove all the books up there and don’t let them fall off”. Also, one of the shelves (cheap pine that Dad put together 12 years ago) has very large cracks in it. Replacing it is going to be one hell of a problem.
In the meantime, I have henna to do my hair tomorrow morning, the dishes are running, and my head is not exploded. All in all, a good start.
First!
Or Second!
Or something. :dubious:
I’m going to bed.
I’ve asked for MMP to be added to the title line to prevent another thread being started - we’ll see which mods are awake already…
And with that - good morning! I’m up early because I didn’t want to pack sammiches for my sweetie last night. So while he was in the shower, I was in the kitchen. There’s no way I’ll fall back to sleep now, at least I don’t think so.
Hard to believe this week sees the end of February - this year seems to be screaming by pretty fast. And thanks to the weirdly mild winter, I’ve seen daffodils blooming already - that’s just not normal. As if any of my life is ever normal…
But it’s a new week and I’m up and semi-functional - that’s gotta count for something. Maybe when I’m caffeinated, things will make more sense.
Happy Monday!!
Monty Python? “I’m a lumberjack, and I’m OK…”
GigaBlurf. I spent the night dreaming I survived the end of the world, a la The Stand, but without the Mother Abigail-Walking Dude plot. So, while I was asleeep all night, I’m wiped out already.
I approve this MMP.
Have a great week everyone!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 53 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 67 and rain for the day. Rah. Especially since I tour the northern territories for a while today.
That’s about all I got for now. Good luck on the book reorganizin’ kanga.
Oh and since we’re talkin’ Monty Python I say let’s all sing!
Now I shall seek out more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Happy Monday Y’all!
NOT a morning person.
Pain.
Might attempt coffee again.
Probably go in early to my office at work on taxes and divorce.
Oh yeah, I loves me a Monday.
Up, caffeinated, and off to irk.
Yay on re-shelving, kanga!
“I will no buy this record, it is scratched.”
Eep.
Got woken up today by the doctor phoning me to say I’ve got an emergency appointment with the neurologist tomorrow. I’ve no idea how I’m going to be able to get there, as I still can’t walk, and even if I could get to the car, driving is probably not a good plan (apart from anything else, I don’t know if this is just an assessment, or for steriod injections, in which case I probably won’t be able to drive home).
I was expecting a bit more notice to get transport sorted out! It’s daytime, so most of my friends will be at work, and the only one who’s not who can drive doesn’t have a car at the moment- I was going to add her to my insurance, so she could use my car while I can’t, but I don’t think I’ll be able to get her added to my insurance today.
Guess I can book a taxi, but it’s a lot nicer to have friends take you to hospital than some random uncaring bloke… I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about steroid injections, and though I know the stats say most people do get an improvement (and half the horror stories are the third/fourth times people have had it done), and also people are much more likely to complain if they don’t work than they are to say it helped, it still gets me really nervous…
They may even be checking me for surgery- the phoneline was so bad that combined with my sleep deprived state, I could have agreed to have my leg amputated and I wouldn’t know.
Oh well, I know what to do…
Blurf. The start of another week of the job. And I don’t even have anything good for lunch.
Spent most of morning in training. Got docs to fill up. I checked with the boss because the first one came up to five pages and that’s:
1.- Title.
2.- Sig boxes.
3.- Index.
4.- Intro.
5.- A to-be-filled table which will get something like 2 rows of data.
He says it’s ok, so off to fill more documents and kill more poor little trees with my almost-blank pages…
Morning!
Today is a looooong 7 hour drive to Louisiana so I had better get my butt going. I am packed I just need to check my toiletries then I am hauling ass.
I was not interested in the oscars last night as I had not seen any of the nominated movies but I did see Christopher Plummer accept his.
This past week end was spent driving a buncha miles to TX to see mr ems girls in their dance compeition. A whole lot of girly squealing, sequins, glitter, red lipstick and teenage girl drama going on. Urgh. Waaaaaaay to much girl for me. I am the low maintenance variety of girl and you couldn’t pay me enough to be a teenager again.
Have a happy Monday!
Well, pooh - another fish bit the dust. I think we need to resign ourselves to the fish we have, since the last few we’ve tried to introduce all seem to have died pretty quick. Stoopit fish.
I’ve lit a fire because the temp has dropped to 64 in here. I don’t want to furnace kicking on, so I’ll warm with wood. I can probably have the house up near 70 in a few hours.
How much longer till spring??
Spotted on the back side of a vehicle while headed to a meeting today:
- In the back window, a variation of the stick figure family. Only this had two of the big 4-legged walkers and two of the smaller two legged types from *The Empire Strikes Back;*
- Near the license plate, a Flying Spaghetti Monster Jesus fish knockoff.
Mooooooom, the surest sign of spring will be the opening of the Amish flea market in Charlotte Hall.
**BBBobbio **- actually, I think it’s the Amish farmer’s market at the Charlotte Hall library. Or the Amish guy who has the stand on 235 next to the grey clubhouse thing that I can never remember the name of…
Get FCDaughter to teach them they should be drinking water instead - silly fishes!
I’m wrestling with a big decision and I don’t know what to do. I’m thinking of withdrawing from school for the semester.
Reasons why I should
Reasons why I shouldn’t
My hovercraft is full of eels!
