IT'S! . . . monty python's monday mundane posts [MMP]

It’s definitely not that. For one thing, mine is only about 1/4 of my head. My right eyeball feels like it’s trying not to explode. I have pulsing pain in my face, all around my right eye and into my forehead but not going below my cheekbone. My right ear occasionally hurts, and it also sometimes hurts at the base of my skull, on the right. The pulsing is frequently, but not always, in time with my heartbeat.

Based on your description, I am so glad that I don’t have migraines. They sound horrible!

I’m alternating between talking myself into staying and into leaving. It may come down more to money than to pain though. If I withdraw at a certain time, the government will want some money paid back - which the school will do. Then I’ll have to pay back the school. I have to have them either paid off or with only $100 balance before I can be readmitted. But, the nice lady who told me this also mentioned dropping down to two classes, which I didn’t think I could. I thought 3/4 time was as low as I could go before pissing off the government. I’ll contact financial aid to find out how low I can go. It would be nice if I could just keep chem, since it’s the only one I need.

I hope your grandfather is ok Stickybuns. There’s nothing quite like feeling sorry for myself and then coming here to learn about everything that you guys deal with on a daily basis. It definitely helps to put the never-ending headache into perspective - it could be a whole lot worse.

On the plus side, I have a throbbing headache but it’s just a regular headache and I can deal with that because my eye doesn’t hurt.

I’m at the pharmacy waiting. They’re calling in an antibiotic and some vicodin syrup. I hope it helps. I hate to see him like this, especially since he’s only about half aware of what’s going on.

I get home and go downstairs and give him the pills and cough syrup. I come back upstairs and get settled in and suddenly I hear my grandma yelling my name. Oh no, I think, he’s having a reaction to the cough syrup!

I go back downstairs and they can’t figure out how to turn the tv on. (This is a recurring theme, much better than the alternative, though.)

I feel so bad for sweetie. He stopped at Best Buy on the way home and got himself a pair of rabbit ears. No matter what he does, all he can pick up is the Spanish channel.
We actually have an antenna on the roof and a control box somewhere in the house left over from the dark ages of the 50’s and 60’s. He’s talking about setting them back up. He doesn’t seem to remember that we got rid of cable for a reason, never mind that there’s nothing on the lower channels that we want to watch.

Howdy y’all! Home from irk and dindin has been cooked and et. Tonight we had salmon patties, English peas and smashed N.O.T.. Quick, easy, nummy and comfort foody.

shortdrum sounds like the solution could be to drop a class. That would at least make the class load easier right now. Hope it all works out for ya.

kanga it just sucks to be he caregiver for a parent. Glad your dad is recovering from the TIA.

StickyBuns glad your grandpa seems to be doin’ better. Oh and on the tv thing, I’ve been known to look at the tv remote, dvr remote and my cellphone and wonder which one will turn on the tv.

Sorry about the fishy MOOOOOOM. Poor thing.

I’s tahrd! Oh and tomorrow we get a file audit. Rah. Files are a big ol’ mess. I am makin’ headway though and the audit person knows that there were several months where absolutely nuttin’ was done so I’m told not to sweat it tomorrow. We shall see.

Laterz!

I defended our honor. :stuck_out_tongue:

Isn’t it funny how people diss the MMP but have never read one?

Back from science fair judging - it was painful - especially because some parents put so much time and effort into their kids’ projects… I’m sure that sixth grade boy understood everything on his board about magnetic rail guns. Afterwards, we went to eat at a new seafood place there in Dahlgren, but it sucked. But now we’re home, so yay!

That’s all I’ve got. Hugs all around, because I think we need some today.

Did you end up choosing a winner who obviously did the work themselves?

I made it to LA. Loooooong drive and I am tired and whiny. I know first world problems.

{{for those with headaches}}

I am waiting on on the other person who is supposed to be arriving from Houston arriving here. But I think I head down to the bar and await their arrival with a beer.

Well, one small bit of bad news avoided… I just got an email saying that an automatic payment that I have set up was declined which would mean that my account was overdrawn.

Fortunately, it was declined because the bank had to send me a new debit card due to the fraud incident a month or so ago and I hadn’t sent the new card number to this company. Whew!

Thank goodness! One of the few really nice things about always being broke due to having no source of income is that there are also no outgoings so I never go overdrawn.

{{{{{Sticky}}}}} Funny how they think the MMP is a clique. It can’t be, y’all let me in.

Did dinner with the Tailgate group.

That sounds like a migraine too, specially the trying-to-explode eye. Migraines are very varied: some people see auras, some get pulsing sensations… so far all I’ve been able to find out about when it’s a migraine and when a headache is “if tylenol or aspirin work, it’s a headache - if your head hurts in a different way than for regular headaches, and those meds don’t work, it’s a migraine”. If you wish you could take your head (or the part of it that’s hurting) and leave it in an icebox until it stops hurting, it’s a migraine.

Sorry about the migraines, ShortDrum; you have my prayers and sympathy.

Whee for the MMP and the non-clique-y denizens of it. I am finally up and running on my Kindle Fire, although I have as yet to make a post from it. I haven’t been able to adjust the font size on it yet, or rather my daughter hasn’t showed me how to do it (LOL). There is so much that you can do from it, though! Still I’d really like to get the e-reader set up and running too; my original reason for the purchase.

I get to pick up my new glasses tomorrow and apparently just in time. I can barely read off the closed captioning on tv any more! My hearing is bad, sue me, I end up using the closed captioning on quite a few tv shows and movies so that I can understand the dialogue. Some closed captioning is better than others, I’ve discovered; and it’s usually not a good idea to watch a live show with the captioning on - it usually runs well behind the program.

Next week, I go to have my eyeball measured (yes, they do such things!) in anticipation of the upcoming cataract surgery in the remaining eye. The cataract in that eye (the right one) has gotten so bad that I can barely make out anything with it, so the left eye is doing all the seeing. Which means that I have no peripheral vision or depth perception. I gotta say, I have no idea how anyone who has cataracts can drive. At any rate, the measurements are for the new lens they will put in after they remove the cataract. The upshot of all this? I’ll probably need new glasses in a couple of months! LOL

Well, at least tomorrow is Tuesday.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 73 and mostly cloudy which also means partly sunny right? Tomorrow’s high is predicted to be 80! Spring is definitely startin’ to say hello in south Jawja.

Today is file audit day. Rah. I’m takin’ it as a learnin’ opportunity to find out how to better fix what was way broken when I started. Or, I’ll bang my haid against the wall a lot. We shall see.

Hey Herbs! Good luck with the eye exam and cataract surgery.

Now I shall seek out more caffiene and sustenance for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I should probably clarify - there’s nothing wrong with 6th graders getting parental help on a science project, in fact, it’d be great if all parents were interested and capable enough to provide help. The issue lies with the parents who actually *do *the entire project. Another issue, sadly, is parents who can’t be bothered - some kids obviously had no help with anything. Or even parental guidance, such as “Don’t write every word in the sentence in a different color.” (That poster was really hard to read!)

One really nice surprise - the 3rd place project was a kid in special ed (we found out afterwards) who my daughter says really, really, really tries hard. He said right in is writeup that his dad worked with him, but it was obvious that it was help, not Daddy doing everything.

My daughter was laughing about the one judged 1st place - she said that boy didn’t need another ego boost. But he did the best job of meeting the criteria and presenting it, and since most of the judges didn’t know any of the kids, her knowing him wasn’t an issue. And I don’t recall much about the girl who got 2nd place - I hadn’t picked hers, but the other 4 judges did, so there ya go.

I was sorry we didn’t get a chance to talk with the kids - when I’ve judged these things in the past, I’ve gotten pleasant surprises from that part. I like to ask what problems they encountered, how they dealt with them, and if they took the project to the next step, what would they do. One boy I remember quite vividly had a not-very-pretty presentation board, but his science was valid, and when we talked, it was obvious that he’d put a lot of thought into it and saw a clear way ahead. Most people blew him off because his poster was not at all attractive, but I fought for him to get a special award, and he got it. I hope he went on with his interest in science…

Anyway, good morning. I slept in till after 7, which was nice. I just finished a bowl of cereal, which was marginal. I really don’t like sweetened cereals, so I was very disappointed in the multi-grain Cheerios. blech

Today’s plans include a run to the grocery store. I need to pick the chicken carcass I boiled yesterday - fortunately, I stuck the whole pot in the fridge before we left. I was thinking I might use some of the broth and make a chicken pot pie. Never done one before, but I like the idea. Other than that, I’ll just wing it!

Happy Tuesday!! And good luck with the surgery, tarra!!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. Hockey tonight. I might see my “just friend” at the game, unless her daughter gives her grandchild #3 for her birthday.

Good luck with the eyeball measuring, Herbs!

Spent yesterday laying on the heating pad because my back was in spasm, again. I could barely move. Rest and three, properly timed, doses of pain meds and I’m back to my normal - which would wilt an ordinary pain free person.

Awakened a few minutes ago by a call from the doctor’s office saying my prescription is ready.

The bad news? The doctor’s office is in Fredericksburg VA, I now live in Annapolis, MD. So I have a 3 hour ‘errand’ to run before work. At least it’s in the company vehicle, so the scanners, XM radio and not-my-gas makes it more bearable.

Good morning all!

If you take 301, you better honk and wave to the southeast for Moooooom and meself when you hit La Plata.
