Heck, the weather I used to be used to, winter is supposed to be 70 or higher.
Anyway, it looks like summer (or at least spring) arrived yesterday. I can tell by the way my family is whining about getting an air conditioner. (I’ve half a mind to send them back to Houston and remind them what heat and humidity are really like.)
Hey Texan if your in the neighborhood of southeastern connecticut this weekend stop on by for a multi-family yard sale at my place. I have two large AC’s ready to be picked up. I’ll give ya a deal for being a doper… $25 a piece. 2001 models…
Here in South Louisiana, we’re seeing the sun each day – just long enough to evaporate all the rain from our latest storms, which, as Nichol_storm so accurately describes, dump the whole Gulf on us in a few minutes. We’re into 95-degree, 95% humidity weather for at LEAST the next three months. I’ll take grey, cold, and gloomy any day of the week.
What drives me crazy is that if by chance we have an odd day or two where it doesnt rain, I have an idiot neighbor who goes out and WATERS HIS LAWN. This is the same guy who yesterday finally gave up and just mowed his lawn IN the rain since it wouldn’t stop long enough for him to have a dry half hour to do it in! :smack:
Wow, thanks, that’s very kind of you. However, we’re in the process of getting central air put in. (I assume you’re talking about window units? If not, let me know, and I’ll be reconsidering.) We have a Sears guy coming in to give us a quote later this week.
Can you believe it - the previous owners of this house had central air, including ductwork, thermostat, and so forth - but tore out the actual unit (the compressor). Their stated excuse? It looked ugly in the yard. Anyway, at least we don’t have to deal with installing ductwork - just the unit.
I need to go down to Connecticut (and Rhode Island) sometime, though, just to say I’ve been there. (It’s true - I haven’t even been to Vermont. I feel so inadequate.)
No prob, they are window units. But someone I am sure will pick them up. They’re pretty nice.
We love, LOVE our central air.
I cannot imagine anyone getting rid of it because it looked bad. Not a good idea if you ask me. Good luck, sears is certainly the way to go!
