So, I have to ask… They’ve got Sonic (Sega), and Solid Snake (Konami), and they had the original 6 Final Fantasy classes as cameos in a Mario Basketball game on the DS… So could Nintendo actually pull off a classic Japanese Gaming all-stars brawler in the next generation? All they’d really need at this point is Capcom (Mega Man, Street Fighter, etc) and Namco (Pac Man, the Tales of games), IMO. And those guys are already making vs. games with eachother.
I know, I know, too good to be true. But in 1992, who would have ever thought that Sonic would cameo in a Nintendo game where he can beat up Mario, or that Nintendo would let Sega develop a future installment of F-Zero (F-Zero GX back on the 'cube)?
The world took away Marvel vs. Capcom because it was too awesome*, but what crazy game franchise cross-over would you like to see?
Put the lineup from Soul Caliber into Super Smash Brothers instead of putting Link into Soul Caliber.
Get the cast of the more recent Final Fantasy games in there (Cloud vs. Link, Yoshi vs. Cait Sith–see where I’m going with this?;))
Imagine Samus vs. Master Chief (don’t predict the outcome, just picture them facing off in the arena).
Hell, why stop at consoles? How about an all-out gamer mascot budokai? The DOOM guy, Duke Nukem, Dr. Gordon Freeman, Space Marines, Protoss Zealots, Hydralisks, Skaarj–Malcolm or Mr. Crow against Mario would be bizarre to the point of perfection.
Not only would that be BADASS, but it’d also shut up so many annoying fanboy arguments. Why waste time debating the finer points of who could kick whose ass when you can just fire up your rig of choice and settle it right then and there?
