YAY for Scruffy coming home!! How amazing is that?! Good on that 10 yo boy.
Uh, LiLi, put down that champagne and head up to bed! Sounds like it was a pretty grand party though so that’s okay. Good time had by all! And btw, if Scruffy made it home, the signs are there for Bailey’s return also!
Swampy, that taco soup recipe looks pretty darn good–I’m going to pass it on to my cousin as well as try it myself.
Whew … glad that I checked on here before heading to bed. Nice to see some good news!
yup, Scruffy’s home because I got up at a ridiculous hour this morning to let her out. Stoopit dog…
Altho I can’t blame my bad night on her. I just kept waking up every hour or so. No idea why - I don’t remember any dreams and I was certainly comfy. I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of plot. *They’re *out to get me. I’m certain of that.
In other news, I got a new desk chair at IKEA and my daughter put it together for me. It’s pretty comfy and I can adjust the height, so yay for that! I hate low chairs. We have people at work who seem to prefer their seats at floor level - going into conference rooms is dangerous - you have to be careful where you sit if you ever intend to stand again! But this chair is (I think) at just the right height. Plus I got a couple of LED lights that will mount under the hutch - that’s today’s challenge.
I was looking at coasters when we were at IKEA, but their selection was terrible - nothing about them would capture any condensate from a sweating glass, so what’s the point? I need to find a set of the stone-type coasters that absorb a fair bit of water. We have a few of them, but not nearly enough.
I also need to get some mushrooms today. Last night I was starting to make sketty sauce (I browned the ground beef) when I realized I didn’t have any fungus. I’m thinking I’ll take my sweetie to breakfast this morning then find a nearby grocery before coming home.
Sounds like Gnat had a nice b-day, even if it did wear **LiLi **out! I kinda miss the days of little kid parties. Till I look at my nice, clean, orderly house. I can wait till it’s overrun with grandkids, thanks.
**tarra **- it’s a 3-day weekend - that’s all the good news you need!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. I thought it was foggy out when I went to get the paper ‘til I realized from the smoke smell it’s smoke from everyone’s chimneys. Folks around here lurve their fireplaces apparently. I don’t have one. Didn’t want one. To me they’re just sump’n else to have to clean. I’m a grouch like that. Speakin’ of clean, da cave could do with a spiffin’ up so that may be on the agenda for this afternoon or tomorrow, since I don’t have to go to irk tomorrow. We shall see.
MOOOOOOM I have some heavy crystal ashtrays I use as coasters. They are presents from when I smoked, not that I ever smoked in da cave. I like ‘em cause they’re big, heavy and easy to clean. I have regular coasters like you’re talkin’ about too but hey, a use for those big ashtrays, so win! I’ve trained folks to use 'em as coasters which was no easy task cause, well, they ain’t coasters so folks were reluctant to like use 'em as such until I explained that that is, indeed, their intended purpose. Then folks were like, “oh cool! good idea!” Thus, I am a trendsetter!
LiLi glady the partays went well. Here’s hopin’ arguin’ friends did not do stuff like break chairs over each others haids and such. That would be bad. Unless you want new furniture then that would be good, I guess.
Herbs I haven’t found anybody yet who didn’t like that soup. It’s a gooooooooooood comfort soup!
Ok, I need more caffiene and I suppose I should do sump’n re brekkies cause rumbly tummy is gettin’ all demandin’. Maybe I should allow OYKW to take me out since it is a no cook weekend. We’re meetin’ up with JDD and Partner for Mexican for lunch so I might be pushin’ it but he is the one who declared “no cook” right?
Someone gave me some absorbent stone coasters when I bought my house. Can’t find them online (they might be Thirstystone, but if so, I can’t find my design, which is off-white carved). They work really well. This lady makes ceramic ones; you might consider making your own.
Sounds like you had a fun time, LiLi. Yay!
Sorry about your doc, Annie.
Seeing Cosby sounds like fun, Spaz. I went to see Bob Dylan (for free…) a couple of years ago for similar reasons. (FTR: he sings even worse than you’d think, but his band is amazing.)
I’m soooo glad little Scruffy is home! That is wonderful news!
Ooh! Happy Belated Birthday to our little **Gnat **too!
I have to suck the rest of the my coffee down and hit the shower, because we’re going to a friend’s house to watch the Seahawks vs. Bears game. Why it has to be so damn early is beyond me, but whatever, I’ll be there.
It is pouring rain out, has been since yesterday. We’re suffering a Pineapple Express which means flooding. Yay…not.
That’s about all the news I’ve got. My life…it is mundane.
The Scruffinator is now harnessed and labeled. I wrote her name and our phone number on her new harness, plus our phone number is on her rabies tag in Sharpie. And I’m going to write a thank-you note to our vet - he went into the office on Saturday evening just to call us. How great is that??
**FCD **and daughter have taken off for Puppy Playtime with Cozmo, with a stop at his office to pick up something, then to CVS to get me some drugs. (Lipitor - don’t get all excited… )
I’ve got a super-mega-giganto pot of sketty sauce simmering - 2+ pounds of ground beef, a pound of mushrooms, a big onion, and a big glug of burgundy, among other things. It’s a 5 meal batch at least. I’m thinking about doing some laundry. Maybe. Perhaps. Or not. Today or tomorrow I need to wash some clothes - they’ll get done eventually…
Home, lunched and deheathenated. We had a supply Priest from Calvary Episcopal Church in Americus, Jawja this mornin’. She is the Curate (translation, Assistant Priest) there and was wonderful. YP is at a conference on (I think) church music in Noo Yawk City. Did I ever mention he attended Seminary at General Seminary (gotta love that name!) in NYC? I talked with her before the service and she asked if YP ever chants the Eucharistic (translation Communion) Prayer because that’s the usual practice up at Calvary. I told her that he does in fact on occasion and that if she wished to, we were conditioned to follow right along with the appropriate responses bein’ as we’ve been trained so to do. She liked that. So she did and did a great job. Not every Priest should do that cause some, well, are musically challenged and just shouldn’t. We were fortunate with her this mornin’ and are fortunate with YP cause both can chant well. Unlike Ms Fingernailsonachalkboardvoice Priest from Thomasville that has subbed in the past. She makes me panic cause I’m afraid she’ll sing at me. Nice enough person, mind you, but she just should… not… ever… ever… ever… ever… chant. Just. Should. Not.
Hello! I am so glad the Scruffster is back fcm even if you had to get up early to let her pee. Fingers crossed for Bailey LiLi and Happy Birthday Gnat!
I was travelling all last week for work and I feel like I had my ass kicked I had forgotten how exhausting travelling for work is. A month off has made me soft. So this weekend has been lazy. It is almost noon on Sunday and I am only now headed to the shower. Then grocery shopping. mr ems is painting the outside trim on the new doors we had installed before Christmas. Kitchen renovation is ongoing also. Fun times at Casa de ems!
Happy Sunday! My life is so exciting. Taxes are done as of last night, and I just made a dress for my son’s stuffed dog. She apparently did not want to run around nekkid. Oi!
A) Is someone going to start us off in the morning? I thought someone had volunteered, but I can’t remember who…
B) My very favorite work of art is back at the art museum! Yay! It’s Lino Tagliapietra’s Endeavor, which, unfortunately, doesn’t translate well to 2D. Here’s a slightly better picture. You have to imagine this as the only thing in a room where you’re able to walk all the way around it and look at it from all different angles.
Also, they’re showing a video of the Complaints Choir of Columbus that is really fun. Here’s their performance. The video they’re showing at the museum has some background information that makes it that much more entertaining. Here’s the worldwide site. There’s a story about the Columbus choir in the middle of the page.
