It's Sleet! It's Freezing Rain! It's the MMP!

Well, at least it’s not Oobleck.

It’s 38 Merikan in my part of Orygun right now. they’re predicting 28 overnight, with some sort of moisture tomorrow. That’s all I know.

Does anyone in here get their health care from the VA? I think I’m eligible, being a veteran and all, and my insurance premiums are killing me.

Snow’s continuing and in a weird irony, the local grocery store has tons of bread, milk and eggs.

Everything else is in short supply. If you want any veggies other than bell peppers or potatos, you’re out of luck, and the meat section was down to a pile of chickens, hamburger and bratwurst.

But they had heaping piles of milk.

Tomorrow’s driving forecast is worse - everything that’s fallen today and been slightly melted will freeze overnight, covering the roads in a treacherous icy glaze.

I chaplain at a couple VA facilities for some of their regulars. It ranges from better than I get from UPMC and Blue Cross to “totally sucks”. You have to remember that its basically the military — if you can wade the paperwork the end product is damn fine. But there is that paperwork.

Chilly but nice and sunny here today. No more snow, but we got about a foot on Saturday that Gnat and I have been playing in, and sledding in, and generally having fun.

We’re back from his quarterly appointment, which went very well, and don’t have to go back until April 18th. Gnat’s doing fine, and his blood sugar numbers are generally okay. I love Sick Kids Hospital. They’re the best.

Mr. Lissar’s got a terrible headache and is lying down, Gnat’s napping, and Tom Kitten is eating paper beside me and grinning because he think I don’t know.

Depending upon which site you consult, we’re going to get a dusting, 1-2", 4" - take your pick. I’m hoping it’s either minimal or major storm so we stay home.

After 3 nights of decent sleep, I’m feeling human again. My voice is still raggedy, but mostly I’m over my nasty cold so yay! And today I started back on the treadmill at work. I’m starting at half an hour at 3MPH - we’ll see how soon and how fast I can build up my endurance. Other than that, nothing exciting.

Sketties for supper. Yep, that’s life here…

I’m too damned gung-ho for my own good.

Took the Foomobile to JD the Wrench to get the exhaust pipe fixed, and while we were there, there was a page for a single vehicle wreck with head injury about a mile away. Guess who was first on scene, and stuck around to assist in getting the guy out…

I’m a week out of the rescue squad, and I’m still showing up at wrecks. :smack:

Let’s see what happens after I quit the fire department tonight. Probably the county will burn down again, and I’ll be there helping put it out.

Hi ho folks! We’re supposed to get another whopper of a storm this Tuesday to Wednesday. I wouldn’t mind a kids day off of school. I have little planned for that day and I’ll run into work tomorrow and grab what I need to.

Have I mentioned lately that I hate ugly winter weather like the kind that Soapy described?

But it’s perfect PUMPKIN BREAD making weather…

Don’t you hate when you swallow something really hot and it burns all the way down your throat and into your chest?

Hate that. :frowning:

Yeah, and then, it’s still so hot, it burns right through your chest and makes a hole and dribbles down your stomach and into your bellybutton. I hate when that happens.
(blame this video for my silliness)

Apropos of absolutely nothing - can anyone watch this commercial without thinking of this parody?

I has a sad. One of the chorus gals passed away this morning. One of her requests was that the chorus sing at her wake - so that’s what I’ll be doing Thursday eve.

I’ll have what Rosie’s havin’.

Dindin tonight was jambalaya. NUM! Good on a cold night. Tomorrow we’ll have leftover ham/N.O.T. soup and Wednesday will be taco soup. The rest of the week it’ll be chili and beast stew from the freezer which I will thoughtfully heat up. It’s a cold week in south Jawja, so just right for stuff like jambalaya, soup, chili and stew.

The talk of everything refreezin’ overnight reminds me of skool daze at the University of Jawja and the annual January or February ice storm and refreeze in Athens. It would last a week. First the ice storm and the freezin’ up of everything. Then came the thaw durin’ the day and refreeze at night for the next four to five days. Fun times. I do not miss Athens, Jawja at all.

Ah, Rosie. I’m sorry. Sing well.

So sorry about your friend, rosie. :frowning:

I mostly look at it via Twitter; several of the people I follow will re-tweet the very best ones.

Whoa! Wouldn’t think it could get that cold in your neck of the woods.

Isn’t there somewhere you can call or visit to find out how it really works?

Glad you’re feeling better, FCM. Hope you feel better soon, BooFae.

Had lovely chicken parmigiana…on fries instead of spaghetti. (OK, so it was my nephew’s leftover chicken tenders and fries. And leftover marinara sauce. And some mozzarella. It was yummy.

Just finished watching 27 dresses (for a second time; I was watching in a kind of distracted way last night); cute movie.

Now, I’ma knit for a while and watch some back episodes of Psych, I think.

Hugs all.

Some neighbours a few blocks away have spotted our lost cat! Mr. Lissar’s been out two nights in a row trying to catch him but no luck. He did see Bailey, though, and it’s definitely our cat.

I’m not surprised kitty’s scared, though- he was a house cat, and was scared of the couch and the plants and other inanimate objects. I really hope we manage to corner him tomorrow night.
