it's snowing in north atlanta!

i see it on the security monitor (i am not allowed windows).!

snow!!!

ok, sorry, don’t get much snow here in the ATL…

We don’t get much here either but this is our third snow this season already . Of course it will probably all be melted by tomorrow or Friday but oh well. It’s not uncommon for us to go through a whole winter without a single flake.

Whoa, I might have underestimated this storm a bit. They were calling for 1-3" but there’s at least 3" on the ground right now and it’s still going strong. The high for tomorrow is only 25 so it might not all melt right away like usual.

Yeah…it was snowing here when I went to bed last night, and there’s mroe than I think they were calling for out there. Of course, the wind was blowing it around last night, so this side of my apartment might look like there’s more than on the front side.
Didn’t we just do this last Thursday?

It’s-a-snowin’ in little ol’ Dallas, Jawja too, and I gotta go to work tonight. What that usually means is that some lamer will call in about 6 am with “I cain’t get outta mah driveway!”. To which I reply: “You better get your lazy Arsch in here, or I’ll send the cops to pick you up.”
Just kidding, but as we are hospital employees, we don’t get to sleep in when there’s snow and ice on the streets and highways. If we have enough warning, some of us come prepared to sleep over in the hospital, but since I live only about 5 minutes away in the center of town, it’s never a problem for me to make it in. I can walk if I have to, and have done it.

It’s also great publicity for the local car dealerships to get out their 4-wheelers to pick us up if need be.

Seeing as how this is Super-Bowl weekend and it’s my weekend off, I might find it real easy to be a bastard if someone decides to wimp out on me Friday morning. Stay tuned!

Q

I saw on the weather today where Atlanta’s high was to be 32
degrees? I’m close the the Canadian border and our high isn’t
a whole lot lower than that.

Holy crap, it’s still supposed to go up to 42 today here (and is already 40)
All AtlantanDopers are welcome in our house, if you wanna escape the insanity

Meanwhile, there is no snow on the ground in Minneapolis.

Damn it’s cold in Atlanta today. I saw some snow last night, but none stuck… :frowning:

Mid-20’s… that’s just wrong… we’re too far south for that…

It’s gonna snow-ho-ho right here in Dixie…

Imagine my surprise. I get up at 5:00 AM ( never bother looking out the window since it’s still dark ), shower, dress, grab my coffee, and throw open the garage door
Snow in Atlanta!
Damn near gave me a heartattack.

Gee, today in Seattle is was a mild 55 degrees, partly sunny, with more sun predicted for tomorrow.

At 8:05pm it’s still only 19 in Atlanta, but we’ve also got over 20mph winds (the winds blow right through you). I don’t know what the windchill factor is and at this point I don’t care! It’s too dang cold for me!

Where are the Atlanta dopers? Frozen, I guess. The low this morning in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta (my home town) was 7 degrees.

It’s warmed up to a balmy 14 degrees now in Atlanta and here in Dallas we are at a sweltering 23 degrees.

Travel Agents: those who sent people to Florida are getting irate calls from their customers who are sitting down there in sub-freezing weather. Even as far south as Miami.

A local news piece in the Philly area featured a caller screaming at the agent, demanding cruise tickets!

Next time, go to the Carribean. Every 15 years or so the chill gets as far south as Florida. Live and Learn!

You know what this record-setting cold blast is:

It’s overflow from Hell’s just having frozen over–Tampa Bay is in the Super Bowl.

The funny thing is that as a resident of a popular county to the northeast of Atlanta, I have had no precipitation of any kind. The weather has been darn cold and the wind hasn’t helped, but in my travels from home to downtown I haven’t seen a single flake.

The weather did earn me some odd looks as I made a 9 PM trip to Publix while wearing shorts.

Here is my forcast:

We’ve received approx 2-1/2 feet since Sunday.
Gah!

Gwinnett, presumably. At least Gwinnett kept the schools open. Some other counties closed the schools so the kids wouldn’t have to wait in the cold for the bus.

You know how Tennessee is. The same forecast every day:

“Clear to partly cloudy with possibility of precipitation.”

But you know, they’re almost always right.
