It's snowing!

Snow early and often in those mountains makes me happy. Just keep it up there and out of Denver is all I ask.

I was up north in Bancroft, Ontario, this past weekend, and there was frost. Crunchy frozen water in the puddles and everything. Suddenly the leaves started to change colour.

Maybe I will have to stop thinking it’s summer.

Maybe.

We had frost Friday night – there was still some visible when I got up at about 9 Saturday. I picked the rest of the ripe tomatoes Friday afternoon.

It’s gonna be in the 80’s today and tomorrow.

It was a good summer. Only a couple of days that were really hot and humid. Lots of good thunderstorms. One rainy period with some flooding, and about two weeks of mosquitoes after that, but until late August, the weather was fine.

But I’m looking forward to fall. I like wearing socks, and I like the quality of sunlight in the fall.

Welcome! It’s in the low 60s for a high today and the leaves starting turning a couple of weeks ago. Perfect weather!

That’s what I wanted to hear, gigi! Thanks! Don’t know if we’ll make it that far north, but as long as I have to put a jacket on, I’ll be happy.

Geez. I live in the mountains in Idaho and it hasn’t even thought about snowing here yet! But you’re at twice the height I am. It’s getting chilly, at least at night, though, so I’m happy because fall is arriving. It’s supposed to get down to 29F tonight! It got up to around 60F earlier, but just for a few minutes I think. Yay!

And here I thought I’d have a really early “It’s snowing!” post. Darn it. g

Lemme know if you travel I-81 on your way through- I don’t eat meat but I know a legendary BBQ place that will make your whole trip worthwhile. (Well, maybe just a nibble if you put some sauce on it)

enipla, can you post pics? I haven’t seen a good snow since our Blizzard in 1996.

Heh. Getting excited about snow. I was looking forward to it the first few years I moved back to snow country. Now, after 5 years, we’re taking off for the snowiest months.

It’s nice for a while. 'Round April, it gets very, very old.

Exactly what he said, including the smiley.

My motto: If you can see snow, you’re too close.

I need to move back to LA.

enipla, I’m so sorry to hear that. You and your family will be in my thoughts as you struggle through this difficult time in your lives.

I hate winter.

I am pretty jealous. We just started getting fall weather - 40’s at night, 80’s in the day. Shorts and t-shirts are fine, as long as you aren’t out after dark. It’s supposed to be up near the 90’s again this week, but it almost frost this morning. I love Ohio…

I am excited about Christmas though, so winter is going to be welcomed. I also bought Halloween decorations today, which makes me smile…

Woooo, hooo!

We were just outside Breckeneidge, up in the mountains after a white water rafting thing, in AUGUST of 2001 when we got into a hailstorm so bad they had to pull the van over until it ended. Whole area turned white.

But, we LOVE your area! Looking to get back there sometimes.

It was gorgeous today for the first time in weeeeeks! 72 was the high, I sat next to an open window all day. It’s 57 here. It was like all of a sudden, fall arrived!
I cannot wait for our winter trips. (One to Denver)
Here’s to hoping that we find some weather. Some good old fashioned nasty blizzard type shit.
But I feel sorry for inconveniencing all of you with my wishes.

I’m at work now, without a camera.

These are two pics I took from my deck last January.

Mount Bross and Lincoln, two fourteeners

Another shot of Lincoln with the moon over the tree.

Ooo gorgeous! That’s the way I like winter – far, far away and in pictures.

– Ellen (in sandals again today)

Ooh, gorgeous! I can’t wait to see the winter scenery here with my own eyes, I’ve seen pictures (there’s just a few of Sun Valley around, obviously) but it’s not here yet.

Or is it? There’s supposed to be a small chance of us getting a bit of snow overnight. Nothing that’d stick, just a few flakes I assume, but it’s September! WTF? Almost everywhere I’ve lived it’s still summer, for the love of Og! This is weird.

I know. My apartment got down to about 65 last night (guess it’s about time to start turning the evap off at night?). I had to have a second light blanket (I’m not pulling out the heavy ones until/unless I have to).

Brrr indeed!

I live at 3500 feet, and I’m not all that excited. The corn’s just turning, cottonwoods are still green, and I have 3 acres of prairie grass to cut and 500 feet of snow fence to put up. I’d be perfectly happy if we didn’t see snow out here in the valley before December.

Tears to my eyes. Early season snow in Colorado always gets me ready for skiing. Thanks for the pics.
