It's Time! Chi-Town Dopefest, Anyone?

I have zero ability to make plans more than an hour in advance due to my having little if any control over my life. Don’t wait for me, I’ll just see what everyone else is into. If I can, I will make it.

Cats make the most interesting cushions!

Time: nothing specific, but the earlier the better for me.

I won’t be able to make it much before 5:30 or 6:00.

I will check with my roommates (read: husband and kids) tonight and see if they prefer I come home for a bit after class and then go back out, or if they’re cool with me popping over to Hazel’s after class (which is my preference.)

I was thinking that those of us who want to get together early can gather at my place around 4pm, hang out for a bit, and then we’d go to dinner at around 6pm. Those of us who’d rather hang out a bit later can come with for dinner and then drinks or whatever afterwards. Those of us who have nothing better to do can do the whole thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

I vote for this, and doing the whole thing.

So do I, early is good in case we (yeah, I’ll bring Wifey) decide to cut and run after dinner.

I work every Saturday till 4 in Highland Park so I’d be able to come down after that.

You better bring the wife! She’s an honorary Doper

Just realized I’ll have another paycheck in hand as of the 1st; so the second is looking all the better.

I was just throwing lunch out there as an alternative. I can do dinner on Feb 2 (at least I think I can). Cookies BEFORE dinner? How shocking.
Since that Groundhog Day and all, are we doomed to repeat these plans until all Chi-Dopers can make it?

Another Chicago doper here (recent re-transplant; apparently the first one didn’t take). I can do virtually any time on the 1st and 2nd.

Yay! So I think we’re going to end up settling on the 2nd as our date.

I’ll post stuff about how to get to my house and stuff next week, when we’re closer to the actual event.

I’m really looking forward to this…looks like we’ll have a nice big group.

Hazel…I’ve never been to Silver Seafood…is it the kind of place we need to have a reservation if we have a fairly large group?

<ears perk up> Did someone say seafood?

Hm, I dunno. I’ll stop by sometime and ask them.

Yes, rigs, glorious seafood. For those of you who don’t like seafood, though, they have other food too, so don’t be scared.

Yeah, I think it sounds settled with us meeting on the 2nd, at HazelNutCoffee’s house around 4pm, then a lovely seafood (and possibly other food) dinner, then jazz or something. We’ll see.

Thanks, HazelNutCoffee for checking out the reservation thing. Looks like we are going to have a large group.

Silver Seafood is well equipped to handle a large group. I’ve been there many many times. Looking forward to the fest!

I’m in for Haze’s and then dinner, but no jazz.

I will be driving. I need directions! PM me, somebody (preferably Haze, since she knows where she lives. I think.)
